Work Text:
A painter sits at the edge of his seat not knowing which way the bristles will go next, he seems to be painting a simple landscape of the things infront of him. It was grass, windwheel asters, and a statue. He felt like something was missing, could he have missed a few flowers and not noticed? No, it must be the shade of the grass! But what If that wasn't it. The painter put his head in his hands and tried to think about what was missing from his painting. While he let out a sigh of defeat he heard foot steps approaching him. He quickly took his hands away from his sorrowed face and stood up from his seat to hold his painting still. "Don't walk infront please." Not even looking up to see who or what it was, he protected his painting, like it was the most important thing in the world right now. "Calm down 'bedo, it's just me!" The voice was deep, yet so smooth and comforting. Albedo's eyes widened "Sir Keaya." He looked over to Keaya and his eyes immediately retracted to a softened gaze when he saw Keaya’s ridiculous smirk and he could tell, Kaeya had done something dumb. "Hey, 'Bedo, I told you to just call me Kaeya." He says with a slight chuckle. "And I told you to call me Albedo." He says, tone laced with a slight sternness. Albedo begins to walk over to Keaya at the same time Keaya was walking over to him, perfectly stopping them in the middle. "Whatcha' painting over there?" He peeked and pointed over Albedo's shoulder and locked his gaze onto at his painting. Albedo debated whether to show Kaeya but the thought made him blush. "It's nothing." He attempted to distract Kaeya by creating a crystal fly from thin air, and upon hearing the noise, Kaeya focused on the newly born crystal.
While Kaeya was distracted, Albedo tried his best to slowly go and turn his painting from Kaeya’s view without making it too obvious. "Shall we head back to the nights of favonius?" If Kaeya had suspected Albedo was hiding something, that thought was quickly thrown out the window as Albedo tried to place the conversation on him. And he knew Kaeya was meant to be at work. "I came here to get away from them, it's too soon to go back, let me rest here.” He begged dramatically as he fell backwards onto the soft grass, causing fluff from dandelions to gust up and he lands on the ground. Albedo sighed and sat down on the grass next to Keaya. It was silent, and awkward. "So-" "I-" they both interrupted eachother causing them both to blush and turn their heads away from eachother. "So, 'Be- Albedo, how long have you been out here? It's so quiet, I don't get how you could just sit alone with your thoughts." He tilted his head up so he could watch Albedo as he laid, yet Albedo seemed to still be flustered as he averted his gaze. "Personally I think being alone with one's thoughts is scary, what if you spiral into a dangerous thought and have no one to help you out." He kept ranting, trying to fill the awkward silence, not sure if Albedo would reply. As Kaeya began to open his mouth, Albedo stopped him. "I understand. But, I’ve learned that I have myself to pull myself out of those thoughts, it's interesting to listen to what your thoughts have to say." Kaeya laid his head back on the grass and squeezed his eyes as the sun hit his face, he let out a sigh of defeat realizing that he didn’t get the advice he wanted. Albedo watched him with no expression.
"Kaeya? Kaeya!?" A feminine voice was calling out his name, it was Jean. "Albedo we have to go! If Jean sees I'm here-" "She already knows you left the headquarters, so what's the point of running?" Kaeya grabbed Albedo's shoulders and looked into his eyes. " 'Bedo please, just this once can you let me run away from my responsibilities?" He said it like his life depended on it, as if he got caught by Jean she would kill him, and knowing Jean it wasn't entirely impossible. "Fine, but only if you stop calling me 'Bedo" Albedo was blushing like crazy, someone like Kaeya was holding onto his shoulders and staring at him. Once he felt his face get hot he looked away and stood up. "We can go to my camp in dragonspine." Kaeya started to run off once he heard the order from Albedo. "Kaeya wait!"
Kaeya and Albedo made it to the camp without Jean seeing them and Kaeya was severely out of breath. "I- huff haven't done that much running since I was a kid. cough" Albedo just laughed at him. "Do you not have any seats in here?" Kaeya looked around then laid on the dirty ground. "Kaeya you may sit on a crate if you'd like" As Albedo offered him a seat he took some time to think about how he didn't have any chairs, he just didn't have many guests. "Kaeya I'm going to work on some experiments so you can stick around if you'd lik-" "*SNOREEEE*"He jumped at the loud snore that came from the floor, he really was a lazy knight.
After a few hours of working he decided it was probably time to stop and get Kaeya back to the knights. He tried his hardest to lift him up but he was obviously too weak so he sat on the the floor next to Kaeya and poked his face. “Mr Kaeya, wake up.” Kaeya was half asleep and had no thoughts in his empty brain so he grabbed Albedos hand hoping the poking would stop, it did but it made Albedo feel flustered, he covered his face with his other hand but it just felt like he kept getting more and more flustered even though no red was appearing on his face. He pushed his feelings for Kaeya far into the back of his mind, they were co workers, friends, nothing more than just that, a relationship that shouldn’t be ruined. But what if he wanted it to be ruined, he wanted to hold Kaeya’s hand, he wanted to be held in Kaeya’s arms, he wanted to kiss Kaeya, everything was so confusing, and the reaction he had to holding Kaeya’s hand made it worse. He pulled his hand away from Kaeya’s which made him wake up from the abrupt loss of contact. “H-huh? Everything alright ‘bedo? You look a bit red, did something go wrong? Ah shit did Jean find us?” He quickly got off the ground and looked around for Jean and he sighed when he realized she was nowhere to be found. “U-uh no but I was thinking that we should probably head back to the knights.” Albedo looked to the floor, he didn’t want him to go, he wanted him to stay and do experiments or even just sleep again, he wanted to stay with Kaeya but he knew people would come looking for him anyways. “‘Bedo..” Kaeya walked over to Albedo and took his hand. “Are you sure you want me to leave? You don’t look alright, something must be on your mind” Albedo felt the feeling again but this time his eyes started to tear up, he didn’t understand what he was feeling, why he was feeling like this, he knew he liked Kaeya but he didn’t know he liked him this much. “Kaeya I, truly don’t understand what’s going on, I’ve never felt this way about anyone and this feeling, it makes my stomach hurt, but in a good way. That must make no sense to you but whenever I see you I get this feeling, like I can’t stop looking at you and I start to smile and it won’t stop. I’m sorry that I said this out of nowhere but I felt like it must be said.” A few tears fell from his eyes but Kaeya wiped them from his face. “Hah ‘Bedo I know how you feel because I feel the same way, you are so smart and I thought that someone like you would hate me, but I really really like you, I always have, you’re the smartest person I know and you always save my ass when I need you. Plus you’re pretty cute” Albedo smiled at his comments and looked to the floor again but Kaeya stopped him halfway by putting his finger on his chin and lifting his face up to look into his eyes. Kaeya then pulled Albedo closer and kissed him. He shut his eyes while Albedos shot open, Kaeya’s lips were soft and his fingers were cold. His body felt hot and he couldn’t control his thoughts. Kaeya pulled away and smiled at Albedo. “I’ve been waiting so long to do that for so long you don’t understand.” He pulled him back in for another kiss, then another, then another until Albedo finally pulled Kaeya off him. “Shouldn’t we- establish a title for us before we continue, kissing?” He hesitated while saying kissing as if it was a bad thing. “You’re so cute Albedo, I’d love to date you and call you my boyfriend, how does that sound?” Albedo hesitated again. “That sounds good, I like that.” Kaeya kissed him again as soon as he finished his sentence but this time he pulled him closer and held onto his hips. “Oh yeah ‘Bedo, weird question but what were you painting earlier?” Albedo looked at him confused, but he answered anyways. “It was a painting of you, I was just about to sketch you when you came over to me.” Albedo smirked and kissed Kaeya.
