Chapter Text
It was a normal weekend. Or, it would be, if Saiki wasn’t the one trying to enjoy it. It truly seemed as if the world hated him.
So, on this ‘normal weekend’, Saiki had decided that he would attempt to relax at home. Keyword here attempt. Saiki knew things were wrong when no one tried to bother him after school. He made it home in record time. He haft expected his parents to pull something dumb on him when he walked through the door but–
Nothing. They were out on a vacation.
His house was weirdly quiet. Well other than the fact that he still heard the thoughts of people nearby, but things were going smoothly.
Perhaps it was his brother scheming something? No, he couldn’t sense anything bad going to happen. Does this mean that he was free from pesky people from school?
That was incredibly unbelievable for Saiki. This had quite literally never happened before.
So, Saiki decided to test the waters.
He made his way back outside onto the streets. Everything seemed to be normal, kids playing around, some dude walking his dog, even a woman taking a quick jog. Now he was starting to feel as if he were the one that was out of place here.
He took a moment to focus on what people were thinking. Just a bunch of normal thoughts. Stuff like, ‘Wow, I wonder what mom has cooked for dinner!’ and ‘Aw, look at those cute kids playing.’.
Nothing particularly weird. Not even a person thinking about word domantation.
Well, since this seemed to prove enough to Saiki that nothing weird was going on, he quickly made his way back inside. He didn’t want a day like this to go to waste, it was far too rare to not have someone banging on his door, begging him to go somewhere he didn’t really want to be to do something he didn’t want to do.
That brought up the next question in Saiki’s mind, What should I do? He would usually spend his entire day doing something dumb with Nendo, or thinking of a plan to escape the school without anyone seeing him, but now he had all the time in the world.
He could even stay up all night, considering he didn’t have school tomorrow. Saiki decided that he would use this oddly normal day to get some much needed relaxation.
And that’s exactly what Saiki did. Reading manga and eating leftovers for dinner, Saiki spent the entire night doing exactly what he wished for most. Relaxation.
So when he woke up in the morning to loud knocking on the door, it was safe to say that his lucky streak was over.
Saiki woke up to an unbearably loud knocking to his front door. He tried to ignore the noise and just sleep through it, but quickly found that the person knocking at his door had no intention of stopping anytime soon.
He sighed, wishing that the peacefulness could have lasted one more day, before walking down the stairs. At this point in the story, you may be wondering who it is that was knocking so aggressively at his door. Well luckily for you, Kusuo was a telepath and knew exactly who it was.
It was no other Toritsuka Reita, one of the only other psychics that Saiki knew. His mind was blaring about something that Saiki would rather not deal with.
‘Oh gosh, I really hope Saiki hurry’s up, I’ve been knocking at this door for the past hour and I think the lady across the street is about to call the cops…’
Good, that little perv should probably get the cops called on him. But Saiki didn’t exactly want the police to show up to his house and give him some very unwanted attention.
Saiki sighed, then used his powers to unlock the door while he quickly got changed in his room. By the time he made it downstairs, he expected to see Reita looking for him but-
He wasn’t there? Did that lady actually call the cops on him? No, that's not possible Saiki would have heard something.
Saiki walked to the front door, only to see that it was left wide open. So Reita did come in? But where was he?
Had he gone outside? Even though Saiki would have been able to hear his thoughts, it seemed like the most logical explanation.
So Saiki walked through the door.
The scenery changed completely. He could no longer hear the lady’s thoughts across the street. Instead he heard what seemed to be busy streets.
His hands flew up to his head immediately, to check if his antanas were still there. Thank god. Things would have been much worse if they weren't there.
It had seemed as if Saiki had teleported…somewhere. Yea, he couldn’t tell where he was at. Wait, what about Reita? Guess he’ll have to fend for himself for now.
Saiki decided that rather than standing around and doing nothing, he should probably take a look around. He started walking down the unfamiliar city street, thinking about what the hell he was going to do.
He could teleport home. But what if Reita was here? Eh, he probably deserves it. Well, Saiki will just have to find a more secluded area so that he could teleport without anyone seeing him.
Speaking of people here, they seemed to be giving him weird looks. Wonder what that’s abou-
Ow.
He ran into some kid with a weird looking bowl-cut.
The kid looked at him strangely too, ‘Huh? What's up with that guy? Green glasses and…are those antanas? Strange.’
Oh, that’s why everyone was looking at him strangely. Now that he thought about it no one ever really brought those up-
‘I guess I shouldn’t judge… Maybe he’s a psychic or something…’
What. Did–did this kid just?
Suddenly a loud scream could be heard, the bowl-cut kid jumped a little. A voice that sounded an awful lot like Reita’s screamed out, “SAIKIIII!”
Saiki turned around, only to dodge a running Toritsuka Reita. Reita almost fell but caught himself and turned to Saiki.
“Saiki I think I messed something up…” He was sniffing when he spoke.
Great, now he had to-
Aaaand the kid was gone. Fantastic. Saiki heard something like, ‘If I don’t hurry I’ll be late, I hope master doesn't mind.’ going through the kid's mind, fading away slowly.
Saiki grabbed Reita’s sleeve and started to drag him into an alleyway. ‘What are you talking about?’ Reita still looked upset. Saiki rolled his eyes. ‘You said you messed up? Messed up what, exactly?’
Reita didn’t say anything but it didn’t really matter as Saiki knew what happened just by reading his thoughts.
Apparently, Reita had found a book lying in the middle of nowhere. Like the idiot he is, he picked it up and brought it home. The book was about universe hopping. Reita thought it would be a good idea to stop by Saiki’s to see if the book was real or not.
Considering their current situation, Saiki would bet that it's real. Great. ‘So, where’s the book?’ Saiki asked. Or, thought.
Reita wiped a crocodile tear from his eye, “Yea, that's the problem… sniff … I don’t know.”
This… was a problem.
For Reita anyways. Saiki could now teleport now that there were no eyes on him.
Saiki used his powers to teleport and—
‘…’
He was still in the alleyway.
Shit.
