Nigel's Big Bang Theory

Summary:

Nigel reads an article that's loosely based in fact and wants to share it with Adam.

Work Text:

“I think we’re soulmates,” Nigel blurted out. Adam looked up from where he was stirring the macaroni on the stove. He had gotten used to how energetic Nigel is. He no longer flinches at his sudden movement or loud outbursts. Instead, he found himself enjoying them. Nigel was chaos incarnate and he was a nice balance to Adam’s slow and steady.

When Nigel doesn’t elaborate further, Adam prompts him. “There is no scientific evidence that supports the existence of soulmates, Nigel.”

Nigel perks up from the couch, making his way to the kitchen to stand on the other side of the island. “See, that’s where you’re wrong, Gorgeous. You know about the Big Bang,” when Adam’s face remained blank Nigel continued, “of course you do. Well, remember how you said matter can never be destroyed?” Adam nodded, continuing to stir the noodles so they didn’t stick to the pot or each other. “So all the shit, the matter stuff, that was there then is here now, right? Making up all of this,” he motioned around to the room and then pointed at each of them. “Us.”

“Yes,” Adam agreed, nodding along, happy that Nigel seemed to retain some of the information he told him while they stargaze.

“So,” Nigel started back up, voice pitched slightly higher in his excitement, “when the Big Bang happened and everything went fucking everywhere,” he brought his fists together and when they touched he threw them back out, expanding his fingers, “I think, some of the pieces that were together in the beginning are inside of us now. It’s inevitable. We had to find each other. We’re each other’s home.”

Adam shook his head. “The chances of matter particles that were close to each other before the Big Bang, when the universe was roughly the size of a volleyball, before the rapid expansion and the void that was created, a void that is so large and constantly expanding that we still do not know the size of it. The odds of those particles being anywhere near each other now is astronomical.”

Unperturbed Nigel nodded excitedly. “And we found each other. Isn’t that fucking incredible, Gorgeous?”

Adam looked towards Nigel and then he understood. “You’re being romantic.” He took the pot off the stove and drained the noodles into a colander in the sink, before continuing the steps for his mac and cheese. “Did you read this somewhere? Where did you hear about this ‘theory’?”

Nigel puffed out his chest. “I read it in a magazine.”

“Which one,” Adam pressed.

A slight blush colored Nigel’s tanned skin, spreading across his cheeks and making its way to the tips of his ears. “Darko’s girl left it in the office. I flipped through it during setup hours.” He shuffled his weight a bit, self conscious. Adam placed the finished mac and cheese on a pot holder on the counter before looking back towards Nigel to find him pointing a large finger in his direction. “And you haven’t seemed to mind the other things I’ve learned from that magazine.”

“What do you mean?”

Nigel leaned forward to leer at the smaller man, “You know that thing I do with my tongue? The way I twist it just so inside you? The way it makes your thighs shake? The way you tangle your delicate fingers in my hair and beg me so pretty?” Adam was panting slightly now, subconsciously trying to close the distance between them. Nigel took the hint and pushed his hands against the counter, boosting himself up to press his lips to Adam’s feeling more than hearing his little whimper against his slightly opened mouth. Right as Adam’s tongue darted out to trace Nigel’s upper lip, he pulled away. “Page 14. Top 10 Tricks to Drive Him Wild.”

The timer on the stove went off just then, startling Adam. “It’s time for me to eat dinner,” he looked towards the stove and then back to Nigel. “I don’t want to throw off my schedule, but I’m very aroused.”

“Why don’t you go ahead and eat, darling, and after you're finished, meet me in the bedroom and we will try the other 9.”

Adam nodded quickly, rushing to get his plate as Nigel headed to the bedroom to get ready for their own Big Bang.
