An smiled happily as she wrapped her arm over Kohane’s shoulder, bringing the girl in closer to her as her eyes began to close from the alcohol.
After all this time, Kohane still couldn’t hold her liquor well.
“An, take her home,” Akito grumbled. He had grown fond of the girl after he had gotten to know her and not judged her. After he had joined a group with her. After she had helped him improve and speak to Toya about his... feelings.
“As soon as it becomes midnight, I will,” she justified, thumbing Kohane’s cheek. “Besides, apparently there should be some... huge news.”
“Where’d you hear that from?” Rui asked, his troupe following behind as Akito frowned and nearly groaned aloud stopping as Toya glared at him softly.
“Mizuki.”
“Is this about those two?” Tsukasa interrupted as everyone looked at him.
“Which two?” An asked, taking a beer bottle Rui offered her.
“Psyche and Cupid,” Tsukasa stated to which An nodded.
“Who the fuck are they?” Akito questioned as Nene frowned.
“Greek mythology,” she explained, “Are you an idiot?”
“I knew that,” Akito snapped. “But, I mean, who are they in reference to our college.”
“Do we know them?” Emu asked excitedly, sitting on the arm of the bench.
“Yes,” Tsukasa answered as Nene furrowed her brows together. Toya also paused lost in thought, slowly intertwining his hands with Akito.
“Are Airi and Shizuku getting back together?” Emu mentioned, buzzing at the notion to which Akito scoffed.
“Airi? Never. She’s done with her, according to Ena. Besides, she likes being more free to party and be whoever she is now,” Akito explained.
“Was their break up that bad?” Rui asked to which Kohane nodded on An’s chest, she was too short to reach her shoulder.
“From what Minori stated,” she slurred out, her eyes bleary. “It was a long time coming. She mentioned something about fairy-tales I believe.”
“Shirashi-“
“I know, I know, but there’s only half an hour until midnight,” she justified ignoring Akito’s attempt to chastise her. “I’ll take her home I promise.”
“I’ll make sure you do,” he grunted.
“What’s with the frown lil’ bro?” Mizuki asked dramatically, jumping onto his back. Their pink hair wafting over his face as everyone began to laugh, Ena trailing behind languishly, hiding her giggles at their interaction.
“Get off my fucking back,” Akito seethed as Mizuki jumped down, laughing loudly before leaning back into Ena’s embrace.
“It’s new years eve, come on~~~ why do you all look so serious?” Mizuki teased.
“Because someone knows something yet won’t tell anyone,” Rui teased as Mizuki laughed.
“That’s not my secret to tell, An was just there when I found out. Same for Tsukasa,” Mizuki justified as Ena looking to them suspiciously. “Sun and moon,” they stated to Ena before she nodded and kissed them briefly.
“They’re cute,” Ena stated bitterly. “But don’t have this conversation around Airi. Let’s start the new yeat in a good way.”
“Stop being upset, I like them,” Mizuki countered. “I think they work well.”
“Of course you would.”
“Now, what’s that supposed to mean?”
“Nothing.”
“It clearly means something-“
“There’s twenty minutes until new year’s, why do you insist on fighting me?”
“It’s not my fault you as my wife are, in fact, a cruel mistress,” they teased causing laughter to break out among everyone.
“That’s insane to think that Kohane and An got together,” Toya began, “Then you two finally tied the knot before we started a new year.”
“And then,” An added, drawing out the syllables. “You two finally stopped eye fucking one another and got together. And now its the new years. I wonder who’s next?”
“You already know who’s next,” Rui pouted.
“Okay, but after them...”
“I say its someone from leo/need,” Emu spoke up. “Or that one student who’s chronically online. Worse than Nene-chan.”
“Who?”
“Yoisake Kanade.”
No one failed to see the laughter Mizuki struggled to contain as they nodded along to the accusations being thrown about. Ena was laughing internally too. After all that time for that name to comeback.
Why.
It must have been fate.
“Hey, guys, there’s only a minute left!” Minori squealed, Airi and Haruka in tow. The pink haired girl being absolutely hammered as she swayed back and forth with Leo/Need following to gather outside and await the bells ringing and the celebrations.
Each one of them eager at the new year.
“Ten!”
“Nine!”
“Eight!”
“Seven!”
“Six!”
“Five!”
“Four!”
“Three!”
“Two!”
“One!”
And everyone gasped as they spotted Asahina Mafuyu and Hinomori Shizuku kiss as the bell sounded for the new year. A bright grin on Mizuki and Ena’s face as a round of applause went off.
A new year.
A new couple indeed.
