Chapter Text

You sigh, the transport vehicle was especially boring today, you were being transferred to another force. Going from your home base to 141? You had never even heard of them, and now you were one of them. Your leg bounced and the zipper on your boots clicked with every tap on the floor, completely fed up with the agonizing boredom you laid your head back and forced yourself to think about something else.

The empty ATV stopped finally and you heard the driver door open, you stood up instantly, thank the gods you were finally getting out of this torturous metal box, you hopped out as fast as possible, you felt like your mind was going to explode, you needed something to do, you were definitely going to run some laps later, your energy was seeping in every inch of your body, you were so jumpy, attentively waiting for any kind of stimulation.

With your P90 snugly secured at your thigh, you quickly thanked the driver and rushed inside of the unassuming base. You didn't know what to expect, you just hoped none of them would be too overwhelming, you didn't like to talk to people, instead, you liked to train, keep yourself in shape, sometimes you'd draw or do something else to consume your endless energy.

"Hello there" a kind warm voice greeted you as a man with a bucket hat and a strange style of facial hair approached. "I'm John Price, you must be the newbie"

You didn't answer, you just stared into his eyes, hoping he would just leave. He didn't.

"If you follow me I'll  introduce you to everyone" and so you did, following them through the hallways and eventually entering a common room, a couple people scattered around just talking. Most didn't seem to care about your presence, but unfortunately, some did.

"Hi, so you're the newbie we've heard so much about" a man with a Mohawk said, extending his hand, you cautiously took it.
"My name's Soap heh" he smiled at you, a type of expression that could mealt any heart. "This grump is Ghost" he said pointing to a very unhappy masked man next to him. "Don't worry, he's like that to everyone" Ghost's arms did not uncrowded to greet you, he just returned your sharp gaze, as if you two were having a war. From Soap's heart warming smile to Ghost's soul crushing expressionless eyes, you almost laughed at the complete opposites.

There were many interesting characters in 141, but the one that piqued your interest the most was a hooded figure sticking to the corners of the room. He looked anxious with your arrival, which you understood, meeting new people might have been your least favorite thing.

After not speaking a word to your new team, you left, wanting to find your barrack and settle in, you changed into sweatpants and a tanktop, fixing your boots onto your feet again, you went out to the gym and ran, you always had to exercise before bed, usually you'd shower too. Hygiene and health are very important, they keep you in peak condition for combat. After you had enough, you went back to your room and cleaned up, then fell asleep.

It might have not been the best sleep of your life but you couldn't complain. It's not like they would just give you silk sheets and feather pillows if you asked nicely. You quickly got dressed and headed down to the mess hall, eager to start the day, though you didn't plan on talking to anyone, sometimes it felt like everything you said was just wrong. You picked up some food and scanned for a spot to sit, most of the tables had enough people that you would be right next to someone if you sat anywhere. But, in the far corner you spotted a familiar, anxious figure. They were sitting at the end of the table. It was the only spot farthest from another person, you just hoped they wouldn't mind.

When your tray clacked against the table you saw him jump a little, but just barely. You were about five seats away, and you were on opposite sides but it felt like you were right next to each other. You tried to ignore the tension in the air as you ate, you could feel him staring at you occasionally, mostly when he lifted his hood to take a bite, he obviously was anxious about you seeing his face. You made a conscious effort not to stare, he was a peculiar character, you couldn't see yourself ever talking to them, but you could observe.

You only knew where he was from by the arm band pronouncing his Nationality, your own bearing the black, red and yellow stripes of your homeland. It was good to know you weren't surrounded by only English men, the comfort of his flag made you stick to him when there were too many people in the room. You were careful not to crowd him though, you would hate to make him uncomfortable, or even anger him.

Only two days after you arrival, Price called everyone down to the conference room.

"Alright listen up, in a week exactly we are going to be clearing out an enemy base, it's not going to be easy but I have faith in all of you" he looked around at everyone's faces, then continued "until then we are going to be doing multiple recon missions" he moved markers around the map as he explained, "you will be paired in groups of four, these will only be for intel, do not engage unless in self defense, all right, now let's group up" he started saying names, your attention was only caught when he said yours "Blitz" he said, your callsign, given to you for your speed and ruthlessness, your specialty was charging into battle and never letting go of the trigger, preferring SMGs or semi auto weapons instead of shotguns or snipers. "Ghost, König and Soap" he listed the other people going on your team, you were a little confused, you only knew two of those people, curious to who this "king" was, you looked around and locked eyes with the masked man behind you, towering over you and staring down at you.

Now if anyone was a king, it was him, suddenly all of your nervous, fidgety energy was squashed down, his size made your heart sink, your head only just reaching about his shoulder height, you had never seen him standing, let alone this close. You turned back around and took a few nervous steps forward, a little uncomfortable with the fact he was so close.

After the briefing, you had to train with your team, per request of Price, you hated this part, preferring to just do whatever the others say, a leader will speak up and you'll follow, not daring to speak up, no matter how perfect your ideas sounded in your head, the broken English you spoke just made you sound like an idiot. You also weren't going to just tell them to König either, you only just learned his name, you aren't friends enough to chat.

The leader to step up was obviously Ghost, he had an aura about him, a terrifying one that forced you to pay attention. He ordered you around, picking out every mistake you could make, no matter how small. By the end of the day, the pressure of being perfect was crushing you, no energy to run today, or shower, straight to bed with an exasperated sigh.
