Mario had made a bet with Luigi, its premise was simple. Who could flirt better, him or Luigi? Its purpose was even simpler, to set Luigi up with someone he liked. Mario wasn't a fool, he knew his brother was lonely in this new world. His little brother, being sad, was not going to stand as long as he breathed.
So the bet was made with two rules in mind. Rule one: they needed to see the other flirting. It wouldn't be either of them to flirt without the other there to judge. And Two: they could only flirt with people they had feelings for already.
It seemed that the second rule was causing a bit of an issue. Luigi wasn't flirting with anyone, least of all his expected candidates. And then to top it off Bowser inserted himself into their friendly competition, therefore turning on Mario's serious mode.
Right now the pair of them were flirt-arguing with each other over Peach, who for her part wasn't bothered by it at all. Mario and Bowser were getting more and more heated, it looked like they both were about to come to blows with one another when suddenly a voice suddenly called out.
"Armore!" They both turned and Luigi walked up to them. For a brief moment Moment Mario worried that Luigi was going for Peach, but then to his shock Luigi grabbed Bowser's scaled hand with his own.
"ti ho detto quanto sei bella oggi?" He spoke in a romantic tone that got Mario and Bowser both blushing. "What?" Bowser asked, sounding slightly annoyed at being interrupted.
"Oh Sorry, let me tell you again." He smiled and tugged unexpectedly onto Bowser's arm, pulling him close. They were nose to nose, Bowser too shocked to move and Luigi spoke again. This time locking eyes with the Koopa King. "I said, " Did I tell you how beautiful you are today? Because today, like everyone before caro mio, eclissi il sole. You outshine the sun." He gave a deep bow to Bowser and let go of his hand, leaving a single red rose in his hand.
"I hope that one day I can see you up close every morning. But for now, mi accontenterò di questa distanza. I'll settle for this distance, good evening, my love." Blowing a kiss Luigi turns away from the group and walks away from the group as though the interaction was normal.
Mario and Peach both turn to look at Bowser at the same time, watching as the king's face gets redder and redder with an emotion they can't distinguish.
Finally after Bowser's face reaches a shade of crimson darker than Mario's current outfit there's a loud pop! And the giant turtle disappears inside his shell where it falls to the ground unmoving.
At the same time, Mario has a realization of his own. The first rules of the bet.
"Wait! Bro does this mean you like-a Bowser!" Mario shouts as he sprints after his brother.
"Not so fun when the shoe's on the other foot, huh?" Peach said into the blackened void where Bowser's head was. "Shut up peach,” he snapped back voice echoing throughout his shell
