The splitting Vigilante - Fraction

Chapter 19: Brawl

Summary:

Setsuna goes right into the jaws of the beast

Notes:

Well... Here's a 3k chapter for yall

Chapter Text

Setsuna knocked on the door at the end of the tunnel that the nice hunk of a receptionist told her to. She didn’t really care if this was dangerous, she needed to get to the bottom of this Yakuza fiasco, before it got out of hand. So delving deep into an illegal fighting ring felt like a good way to get started.

A little slide opened when two eyes appeared and looked at her. “You ain’t Mysterio,”

“Yeah, 'cause I knocked the fucker out. That receptionist changed the thing if he said it,”

“They… They’re they,” The guard huffed before their eyes faltered. “And it seems you're telling the truth… After all that helmet of yours is infamous round here,”

“I’m flattered, and I’d be more flattered if this stupid door opened,”

The sound of a lock opened and the metal door creaking filled her ears. “Come in,”

Setsuna did, but was always on edge, not backing down at all. Just looking around it was clear that many of these were hardened fighters, all of which had a lot more experience.  The visor around her eyes made it hard for everyone to grasp what the vigilante was feeling, all except fear.

“The man you k nocked out was a man from one of the main benefactors, a new one to pay off some debt,”

“Shit… well I guess he’ll have to use a kidney, and I'm guessing that this benefactor is that there is a private room?”

The guard snorted as he threw Setsuna some keys. “Room 7, to the left, good luck explaining it to Giran,”

“Hey, thanks for the name,” Setsuna soon began to walk through the waiting area.

It was filled with a variety of quirks from what she could see, all of which would be hard to fight in her base form. Emitters, Mutants, maybe even some transformation types like herself, these were the entrees before the main events. She kept an eye on all of them, making sure that no one tried anything on her.

She turned right and looked at the different doors, counting them.

“One, Three, Five, Here we are,” She put the key in. “Seven,”

Setsuna fiddled with the handle before she opened it, seeing it completely decked out like it was somewhere backstage.  It had a mirror, a small minifridge, a tv, a first aid kit, and a few chairs. One of which was being used by what Setsuna suspected to be her benefactor.

He had ashen hair, whiskers growing across his face, sunglasses across his eyes and a cigarette in hand. He also wore an indigo suit and a peach scarf, horrible fashion sense if you asked Setsuna. The man took a deep breath in and exhaled a large amount of smoke with a sigh.

“So you must be the replacement that beat up my Mysterio,”

“Yeah, sorry about that, you must be Giran,” She walked forward and stared at him.

“That I am… and you must be the hottest thing on the block right now. Fraction,”

“That a compliment?”

He hummed. “Half complement half threat,” He explained as he placed the cigarette to his mouth. “Come, sit, it would be best to get to know your benefactor since we will be working a little bit closer for the next half an hour at least,”

Setsuna did so, laying back in the chair and staring at the broker.

“You know… I had a lot riding on this fight to lose,” Another breath. “Sure Mysterio is a great man but he really isn’t a crowd pleaser in the sense of how his personality is horrible. So people like seeing him getting the shit beat out of him,”

Setsuna scoffed. “And like I’m any more loved than him,”

“That's fair, but you have something that my boy didn’t. Something which is going to make your first match with the training wheels SO much more interesting,”

“Fame? Power? A reputation?”

“All of those things but there was one other. Anonymity,” Giran took a huff of smoke. “The underground goes absolutely rabid for fresh meat no matter what it is… You could be All Might and they still see you as an outsider,”

“Meaning they’ll bet on my loss,”

“But that works for me, you see,” Giran took a smoke. “Unlike the rest of these idiots, I know of your skills and accomplishments,”

Setsuna snorted. “Listen here I don’t care about this, I just needed to get in. I fight some burly dude and then I stay for the rest,”

“Ohho!” Giran smiled. “And what is the rest may I ask?”

“I dunno, some info broker I know said that something Trigger related would go down, so I found this place. It really wasn’t that secretive and if a vigilante can find this place you wonder who else could,

“A broker you say?” Giran lit another cigarette. “Haven’t heard about a lot of ‘Brokers’ that would give out this with just a favour, especially to investments,”

“Look, I ain’t talking about much. I just to do what I want as soon as possible, which means I fight, you get your money and I wait for my tip to arrive. Kapish?”

“But I need to pay you! Say? How about… Three Million? As a down payment?”

Setstuna's eyes widened. “ Three Millions a down payment?” Meaning if she won, Setsuna would still get that money after losing.

“Yeah, it’s why I’m best of the best,” He took another deep breath. “But your little stunt and using the training wheels I’ll increase it even further if you want to,”

“I should say no,”

“You should, but not to me,” He laughed. “The great Giran,”

“I’ve actually heard of you before you know,” She actually said. “Nothing about Trigger but some users tried to buy me out by giving you my number, saying something like ‘That helmet doesn’t last forever which, yeah I know it will do, but today is not the day,”

Girans shifted his weight in on his chair. “Say, if your helmet is broken from today, I’ll commission you a new one, free of charge if you win this fight,”

Setsuna’s eyes widened. “Maybe some villains aren’t all bad after all,”

“Heard that one before,” Giran rummaged through his pocket and pulled out a remote. “Now how about we watch this instead now?”

<--->

“Now onto our next no-training wheels matchup, you all know them, and you all know how this will go!” The crowd cheered as they began to hear the doors to the ring open. When the first one began to walk they began to cheer as the man began to loosen up his shoulders.

“Standing at eight foot two and having nothing to lose except for a tooth! We have! THE RAPPER!”

A man with a white shirt with a ripped-up luchador mask with tendrils of hair poking out jumped into the ring and began to scream, pounding his chest during that time. He began to hit his fists together before cheering and walking to the centre of the arena.

“And the quirk that looks like it hurts! The Six limbed menace of Mustafu! The muscular stand from the same man! GIVE IT UP FOR! Scapulus!”

A hunched-over man, standing at around seven feet in height walked into the stage. The only thing keeping his identity a secret was a very small face mask. As the crowd began to cheer his back began to spasm and cramp.

"NOW! Everyone knows that these two always like a good brawl so just wait for the bell!” The bell dinged. “Let the match begin!”

The moment the judge said it, Scapulus's spine quickly ripped itself out of his body as he got on all fours, watching him change. The spine began to grow an entire skeleton from the ground up, as his hands turned to that similar to claws.

The forming skeleton quickly formed across, as nerves, muscles and skin finally formed over. The nails, eyes, ears and mouth quickly made themselves known, as Scapulus’s entire top of his body had been replicated all except for his hair.

By then The Rapper began to scream as he ran forward, his quirk Strongarm activating. His fist quickly met Scapulus’s own arms, who retaliated with his own attack. The sudden force caused the two to stop for a moment. The rapper looked down to Scapulus’s regular face, his enemy looked up and smirked.

Scapulus pushed the Rapper away before screaming as the two began to punch each other with full force.

Strongarm was The Rapper’s quirk and it allows the user to move their shoulder blades at breakneck speeds in order to dish out many attacks. He constantly itched for a fight, but most of his fighters couldn’t give up, which was why when Scapulus was in the ring with him, he could go all out.

Scapulus’s quirk was called Top-replication. His spine could protrude from his body and basically grow into a new person. With that came a case of hysterical strength, meaning Scapulus could punch as hard as The Rapper at a much slower pace, but it took longer for rhythm to tire them out.

The two kept screaming as they exchanged blows. The moment one landed a good hit, the other would land a stronger one. And if one blocked their attack, their cycle began anew, as they started to punch even stronger.

Every punch, spit and hit was greeted by a wave of cheers from the crowd, who were clearly enjoying the entire thing.

The Rapper screamed as he aimed for Scapulus's right elbow, tearing it off and causing it to fly above the ring and into the crowd. Scapulus’s remaining muscle arm swung at The Rapper and hit him square in the jaw.

He went flying back and hit the cage surrounding the ring, with a very loud crack being brought up by the microphones.

“OOOH! That has gotta hurt! But what's this? The Rapper is getting back up! What a gentlemanly move from Scapulus! WILL THIS COST HIM THE BATTLE!?”

The Rapper began slowly getting up, using the chain link fence as support. He quickly spat out a tooth and smiled at Scapular, whose new face was smiling back at him.

By that mount, the muscular body of his quirk had regrown his missing arm. By that point the Rapper finally got up and screamed as he ran towards Scapulus, using his quirk to start to warm up his arms. The two immediately began to trade blows even faster than before. The Rapper screamed as his fist connected to the Muscle’s collar bone, pummeling through it and ripping it off.

At that point Scapulus’s normal body which was on all fours quickly lost its balance for a moment which gave The Rapper used his quirk again, this time pummeling the second arm which got lobbed off.

This sudden force caused Scapulu’s body to start to get flipped over, leaving his stomach for a full pummeling. The Rapper screamed as his arms sent shockwaves through Salpulu’s body before it flew away and hit the chainlink fence.

The extra body on Scapulu’s back slowly began to shrink and shrivel, indicating that he had lost.

“AND THERE WE HAVE IT FOLKS! THE WINNER OF THIS MATCH IS… THE RAPPER!”

<--->

Setsuna looked at her arms after the match, wondering if they could imitate Rapeprs quirks if she tried.

“I do have to say, what's your quirk?” Giran asked.

“Not telling,” She replied.

“Hmmm, shame. But then again you shouldn’t tell me, after all the quirk registry is a little bit rash if I do say so myself,”

“I say my name and you can search me up,”

“You got it,” Giran took a deep breath. “Oh watch they’re about to tell your name to the crowd,” He got the remote and put it a bit higher.

“NOW FOR THE NEXT MATCH-UP! A LITTLE THING HAS CHANGED! Yes, Mamarean is still going to compete! And we all love our big burly grey man! But Mysterio decided to pick a fight with someone and got his ass beat! So our Mysterious-Assbeater will take his place. And I may ask who is this mysterious assbeater? A first in the underground, one that has already made a name for itself in the alleyways of JAPAN! Taking on drugged-up quirks from dusk till dawn! OUR MYSTERIOUS Man that our mysteries Mysterio IS… FRACTION!”

There was a sudden increase in cheers in the crowd which made Setsuna jump. Looking to her side she saw Giran laughing away.

“Wow, kid that's quite a racket you have going on there, and those chants," Giran smiled.

“Shut up,” Setsuna sighed. “I can take on drugged criminals for hours on end but something like that scares me?”

“We all have our ups and downs, our firsts and lasts. Hey, if you need any help with the audience just imagine them in their underwear,” A sudden pound to the door drew the two's attention. “Guess it's time,”

Setsuna took a deep breath. “Yeah, I guess it is,"

<--->

“LAAAAADIES AND GENETLEMEN! AH Who I’m kidding none of you are ever gentle,” Cheers from the audience. “May I welcome you to our final fight of the night! To our right! We have the Pacyderm menace of the underground! The horn of judgement, the impaler of Wretched! May I give you Mamerean!”

The door opened and a large grey man came running out, jumping and shaking the entire cage. He stood even higher than the rapper, being much bulkier than the rapper, and also having more muscle. He had two horns to show that he had a rhinoceros quirk, he roared before quieting down and listening.

“AND NOW! NEW TO THE UNDERGROUND BUT THAT DOESN’T STOP THEIR MENACING GAZE OVER THE DRUGS OF Mustafu! You may know of them one way or another BUT DON’T LET THAT HOLD THAT AGAINST YOU! SHE DOESN’T DO HUGS AND SHE DEFINITELY DOESN’T DO DRUGS! IT’S FRACTION!”

The other door opened and a much smaller person walked out. There was no applause and the surrounding crowd just looked at the newbie. A grey singlet, black pants, and a motorcycle helmet covered their face.

“NOW! YOU KNOW THE RULES! AND EVEN FOR A NEWBIE! THERE'S NO HOLDS BARRED!” Cheers came out. “READY! STEADY! FIGHT!”

Mamaeran immediately charged at Setsuna, yelling as he pulled back a punch and aimed it right at Fraction. He screamed and ran as Fraction stood still and pointed one finger in front of them.

“Bang,” A finger was released from their hand and it hit right into Mamaeran’s eye. It was then when Fraction moved out of the way as Mamaeran lost their balance and rammed right into the fence.

“OH! DIDN’T SEE THAT BUT WHATEVER FRACTIONS QUIRK IT CERTAINLY IS REFRESHING TO SEE!” Mamaeran at that time stood up and stared.

“You bitch,” He dented one of the arena pillars. “I’ll KILL YOU!”

“COME ON AND TRY! I’LL KICK YOUR ASS!” Fraction screamed back.”Or are you as dumb as a Rhino as well!”

“Don’t you underestimate me!” Mamaeran began to run right towards Fraction again only for the vigilante to dodge.

“OH AND ANOTHER GRACIOUS DODGE FROM FRACTION!” The announcer announced.

They had backed away and grabbed the chain link fence, climbing higher. Before Mamaeran could react Fraction dropped from the sky as the villain looked up. He opened his mouth, which was the worst mistake that he could make.

Fraction unlodged their left hand and sent it racing into the gaping home of the person. Mamaeran immeadietly locked his mouth as Fraction's hand clogged their throat. He tried to bite at the bases, even breaking the flesh, but that proved no sort of injury for the vigilante.

“OH, WHAT’S THIS? I’VE NEVER SEEN THIS FOLK! Fraction is riding Mamaeran like a horse! BUT WHERE IS THEIR HAND? DOWN THEIR THROAT!”

Fraction winced at how Mamaeran was able to bite at her palms, letting out blood, which was horrible for him.

“You know certain kinds of lizards have paralytic body fluids. You ever wonder if my blood has that, don't you?” Just like that Mamaeran’s eyes widened as his mouth slowly began to become numb. “TAP OUT AND MAYBE YOU CAN SURVIVE!”

Mamaeran looked up at Fraction right before his eyes dilated and he fell on the floor face forward. The moment they did Fraction got up, and slowly took their hand out of Mamaeran’s mouth before stepping out and kneeling down, checking his pulse.

“AND JUST LIKE THAT FRACTION TAKES OUT MAMAERA BY SHOVING THEIR HAND DOWN HIS THROAT! EVERYONE GIVE IT UP FOR... FRACTION!”

<--->

“Well, I did not expect that,” Giran took another breath.

“Yeah well, choking him out seemed like the quickest way. The bigger they are the harder they fall you know,”

Giran tapped his phone and chuckled. “Yeah, I know, well done Fraction your a millionaire,”

Setsuna stopped for a moment “How much?” She was then suddenly thrown a bag towards her, which she graciously caught.

“Seven million to be exact. After-tax and whatnot,” Giran took a look at his cigarette and put it out.

“Wow,” Setsuna said. “That's a lot of money,”

“Trust me I should know,” He pulled out another cigarette while looking at his watch.  “You know your fighting style sorta reminds me of-"

A sudden loud thud of the door broke the sentence Giran was about to say. The broker and vigilante immediately turned around right in time to hear another three loud bangs. A small amount of silence before the door immediately came tumbling down with a massive thud.

Setsuna immediately balled her fists and stood in front of Giran ready to fight. But it wasn’t a fight she was going to get.

The Rapper walked over to the massive metal door and simply just pointed at Setsuna. “Why did no one tell me Rumi had a kid!?”

Setsuna just turned her head. “Eh?”
