Work Text:

The orange glow of the late afternoon sun filtered through the thin curtains, and into the kitchen where Julie was currently busying herself with preparing breakfast. There was a half stacked plate of pancakes beside the cooktop, and the sink was cluttered with dirty bowls and plates.

She didn’t try to be quiet as she placed the bowl into the kitchen sink, the sound ricocheting with a clatter through their cramped kitchen. The boys had gone out last night, to a party or something, and they hadn’t come back just yet. And Suzie? She slept like the dead, so she wasn’t overly concerned.

She heard the door open, and soft footsteps coming from down the hallway. Suzie finally woke up, probably lured out of their bed by the promise of food. Julie didn’t turn as she heard Suzie shuffle towards her and yawn, before a warm body slumped itself against her back.

‘You makin’ breakfast?’ Suzie mumbled into her shoulder, squeezing her arms tight around Julie's middle. She was wearing one of her hoodies, and it was easily a size too big for her, giving her these big sweater paws that made Julie’s heart clench in her chest. What did she do to deserve this?

Julie reached around to tuck Suzie under her arm, placing a chaste kiss to her temple, snaking her arm under her shirt.

‘Yeah, you hungry? They’re nearly done, won’t be long.’

Suzie nodded her head. ‘Are the boys home? I thought they’d be awake by now.’

‘Ha, no they stayed out last night. Joey texted me that they were crashing at whoever’s house the party was at. Apparently, it got pretty wild.’

Suzie hummed noncommittally, resting her head on Julie’s shoulder. She shut her eyes, arms still wrapped tightly around her waist as she began to sway gently. Julie flipped the final pancake, before putting the spatula down.

‘Kiss?’ Suzie asked, not that she had to. But it was sweet anyway, and with a face like that, how could Julie refuse?

The kiss was slow and lazy, and they eased into each other with practised familiarity. Her lips were soft, and tasted like her bubblegum chapstick. Julie always hated the stuff, it stank and always tasted so artificial, oh, but on Suzie? It was divine. She swiped her tongue over Suzie’s lower lip, before biting gently, just the way she knew she liked. Being this close to her, the gentle swell of her hips under her hands made her dizzy. She felt Suzie’s hands wander her body slowly, contrasting the intensity of the kiss.

She gripped the back of Julie’s shirt as she gasped, pulling back for breath. They both stayed like that, in each other’s arms, sucking in lungfuls of air.

‘Good morning to you too.’ Suzie said finally, her lips plump and glossy as she grinned up at her. The grin suddenly dropped, and she sniffed once, and then twice. ‘I think your pancakes are burning.’

‘Fuck!’ Julie pulled away, frantically turning off the stove top and flipping the pancake to reveal one very charred side.

Suzie just laughed. ‘Nothing a shit load of syrup won’t fix.’

They both had collected their breakfasts and were sitting at the tiny, round dining room table that they had managed to shoved into the corner of their small kitchen dining room.

This flat wasn’t Julie's first choice when they had been apartment hunting, to be honest. It was cramped, the kitchen cupboards were painted this horrible ‘off-white’ that looked more akin to baby vomit, and their bathroom had more mould than tiles. But in the last year they had lived here, it had grown on her. This was her home, down to the rickety wooden dining table they had scratched their initials into, to the worn couch they had found on an ad listing from some old couple down the street.

And they were her family, as unconventional as their little group was. The day after they graduated, they packed up all their things into Frank’s old 1990’s Honda Accord (the real ones know) and had set off for their new life, Ormond fading quickly in the rearview mirror.

‘Did you end up getting an interview for that job you applied for?’ Suzie asked as she poured an obscene amount of syrup onto her pile of pancakes. And the floaty feeling that Julie had the whole morning was suddenly gone, as if someone had just pulled out the rug from beneath her.

‘Uh, no. I haven’t heard back.’

‘Maybe they’re just taking their time reviewing applications?’

‘Yeah, maybe.’ Julie said, trying not to sound too dejected. She pushed a piece of burnt pancake around her plate.

It was something that she had been struggling with recently. The rest of them had their thing, what they liked and could make money from. Suzie had been selling her art commissions, and became a mini influencer on an art website, and Joey had become serious about his music, whilst also keeping a part time job on the side. Hell, even Frank had already established himself as a drug dealer in the underground community in the city. And Julie, well… she had been flitting from job to job, just floating around without really finding her purpose.

Sometimes, it felt like she had never really left Ormond.

‘You could become a chef.’ Suzie offered, trying to lighten the mood with a joke and grin.

Julie looked down at her plate of pancakes, wonky and on the side of just too burnt. Yeah, sounds good.

‘Yeah, i’ll open a restaurant and everything. My specialty: wonky pancakes with a side of char. Mmm mmm.’ Julie took another bite for emphasis, before almost choking it. ‘Fuck, that’s actually really burnt, oh my god.’

She took the syrup bottle from Suzie’s side of the table, and drowned her pancakes in them. There, that’ll fix it. Suzie just hummed her reply, taking another large mouthful and chewing it as her eyes wandered around their dining room kitchen.

‘So, when are the boys supposed to get home?’ She asked.

‘I don’t know, Joey didn’t say.’ She replied, chewing slowly as she shot Suzie a suspicious look. ‘Why?’

‘No reason, just asking. Ya know.’ Suzie offered her a certain look, almost unreadable to the untrained eye, but anyone who knew the pink-haired girl had come to quickly learn the mischievous glint in her eye.

Julie raised an eyebrow at her.

And that’s how they ended up here.

The way Suzie perched on the couch, staring up at her with those big, doe-eyes and a devilish smile on her face. Julie stood in front of her, and let Suzie trail her hands up and down her body as she shed her top, leaving her chest completely bare. Small hands cupped them, squeezing gently.

Her lips were parted, her tongue darting out to wet them as she rose to her knees on the couch, and tugged one of Julie’s nipples into her mouth, roughly nipping and licking at her, while her other hand entertained the other.

Julie could feel the heat rise to her face, her nipples hardening easily under the cold air of the room and the merciless attention alike. Suzie loved playing with her tits, grabbing, pinching and mouthing whenever she could. Not like Julie would complain though. All she could do was watch as Suzie squeezed her legs together impatiently, looking up at her from under those thick lashes, heat coiling in her gut.

Julie pushed her back gently, guiding her down until she was lying on her back against the couch, and Julie was settled between her legs. She peppered open-mouthed kisses down the column of Suzie’s neck, nipping and licking the way as she went, no expanse of skin left untouched by her affection. God, she could spend eternity worshipping her like this, she was beautiful. With her pink hair fanning out behind her like a halo, her lips glossy and parted, with soft sounds falling from them so easily, her face red with flush. She was perfect, and she was hers.

She snaked her hands under the oversized hoodie, and found that Suzie was already wearing nothing underneath.

‘What’s this? I can’t believe you sometimes, Suzie.’

Suzie's face reddened even further, stuttering as Julie pushed the hoodie up to her waist, hands delicately tracing her sensitive expanse of her lower stomach. ‘It’s called easy access. If you’re done teasing me, can we get to it.’

‘It’s called foreplay.’ Julie mimicked Suzie’s tone.

‘It’s called I’m gonna kick your ass if you don’t hurry up.’ Suzie huffed in frustration, using one arm to cover her face as she lay back.

Julie just laughed, pushing Suzie’s arm away from her face, and pinning it above her head. She hovered her face above Suzie’s for a moment, the intensity in her eyes matching just how she felt. There was this energy between them that was palpable in the air, like nothing existed in the world but the other.

Hot breath stuttered, ghosting her face as one hand trailed down between Suzie’s soft thighs. Suzie let out a sound that was akin to a mewl.

And that’s when the front door opened.

The pair of them snapped their necks, horror in their expressions as Joey and Frank walked into a topless Julie and a bottomless Suzie.

‘Oh my god,’ Frank averted his eyes, physically cringing as he slammed the door shut behind him, ‘Can’t you two get a fucking room? Is this what you do while we’re gone?’

He all but grabbed and dragged Joey, whom of which was now a bright shade of red, through the living room and down the hall into their room. Once they heard the thump of the door shutting, the girls looked at each other, before promptly bursting into a fit of giggles.

Julie loved their little fucked up family.
