Chapter Text
Tubbo was working on his trains when a familiar worker came rounding the corner. “Oh! Tubbo, I’ve been looking for you.” Fred says approaching Tubbo. Tubbo came from under the train he was working on and sat up. He was covered in oil and coal stains. He had a working apron with tools in it and had goggles covering his eyes that were all fogged up. His hands were really dirty and he looked kinda tired. “Fred! Hey how are you doing? You’ve been looking for me? I’m sorry I’ve been working all day on this train it won’t start up for some reason. Anyway your not here to hear me blabber about trains.” Tubbo says while getting up from his sitting position and pulling his goggles on top of his head. Fred just laughed. Tubbo had a habit to ask to many things at once and go off rambling. It had never bothered Fred though. Fred enjoyed his joyful care free personality. He always looked forward to hearing him ramble about his machines, the other islanders, or the federation. “I’m doing okay Tubbo and Yeah, I was looking. Umm… I don’t mind listening to you talk about your trains. I always wondered how they worked anyway. You’re so smart it seems to come so easy for you.” Fred complemented. Tubbo’s face lit up. A slight light pink dusting his cheeks. “Really you wanna hear me rambling about trains!” Fred nodded. Tubbo immediately went off about the basic of making trains. Tubbo also decided to continue working on the train he was working on before Fred got there. Fred just sat down in the grass watching and listening in amusement. He knew he would get an ear load from Cucurucho if he was caught but he didn’t care. Cucurucho had favorites on the island and Tubbo was NOT one of them, but he was Fred’s favorite.
Cucurucho as well as many other workers knew that much. I mean Fred didn’t try to hide it at all. He liked Tubbo a lot. They went on a date for heck sake. Fred liked Tubbo a lot.
“AH! I fixed it!… I think. Wanna take it for a test drive Fred?” Fred was brought out of his day dream and looked at Tubbo, “I’m sorry Tubbo what did you say I didn’t quite catch it?” Tubbo laughed. “I knew you didn’t want to learn about trains. Anyway, I asked if you wanted to go for a ride in the train I just fixed.” Fred nodded and walked over to Tubbo. “I’m sorry I just really wanted to hang out with you Tubbo. I enjoy hanging out with you.” Tubbo smiled widely and held the door open. He did a cheesy bowl and held out his hand for Fred to take “welcome,sir- or I don’t know how to say it non-binary… umm anyway welcome aboard!” Fred took Tubbo’s hand and got into the train. “Thank you kind, sit.” Fred joked back giggling towards the beginning.
Tubbo joined Fred in the train and started it up. The train picked up pace slowly till it hit full speed. Tubbo explained how it did that and what was happening to Fred. Fred just smiled and listened to Tubbo go off. Tubbo was super fascinated by Mechanics, that was common knowledge. After they went the full length of the island they got off and by then Tubbo had finished ranting and they were just getting off the train. It was late at night. “Oh, it pretty late I should be heading back now Tubbo, Cucurucho will be mad if I don’t.” Fred said sadly. He walked over to Tubbo and gave him a hug “Thanks for the great day Tubbo, I enjoyed hanging out with you, see you tomorrow.” Fred the warped away without another word. Tubbo stood awe struck for a while before screaming back way to late, “ BYE FRED SEE YOU TOMORROW!”
