As always my bingo card can be found on my tumblr under the same name, link here Michaelaariadne . And I think for now my card doesn't really look like I'm going to have bingo but I'm getting there!
I hope you'll enjoy another of my fills.

Work Text:

Cody made sure to be on the shuttle with his general when he was getting to the Resolute.

When they found out that General Skywalker got almost lethally injured, Cody's general looked terrified. Truly terrified, not battle-like, when they all feared for their lives, just purely scared for someone he cared about so much.

After getting the dreadful news, and saying the Jedi Council 'no' while they tried to get them another mission, General Kenobi immediately informed everyone that he was taking a shuttle to get to the Resolute, leaving the command to Cody, who swiftly passed it to Waxer to keep Obi-Wan company. His general didn't complain but didn't vocally announce his approval. Just walked towards the hangar, Cody by his side as if it was a normal occurrence.

Obi-Wan was pacing around the small ship the whole way to the Resolute, one hand stroking the beard while the other was clenching and unclenching almost instinctively. As soon as they boarded the Venator, he made his way to the medbay.

"General," Cody spoke for the first time since they left the Negotiator. "Slow down. I don't think they will even let you in."

"I don't care. I need to..." Obi-Wan's voice was shaking. "I need to see him. To make sure he is... He isn't dead."

Cody thought that maybe he was dead but the news didn't reach them yet, but he prayed to Manda for Skywalker to survive.

In the medbay there was chaos. A few clone troopers were lying on the medical cots, IVs next to them, but General Skywalker was nowhere to be seen.

"Kix," Obi-Wan spoke to the trooper. "Where is..."

"Surgery. I need to go, we're doing  everything we can to save him but I can't promise you anything." He just dropped a bomb and walked away without waiting for an answer.

"We'll be waiting here, vod!" Cody shouted after him and Kix looked at him for a second before nodding and disappearing in the other room.

Obi-Wan visibly deflated. His usually steady posture seemed shaken and he looked so lost Cody acted instinctively.

"Obi-Wan. Let's sit at the back, it may take some time," he said quietly. He rarely called him by his name, trying to keep their relationship professional. But now he felt that he'd rather not be general so he treated him accordingly. Obi-Wan looked at him and nodded letting himself be led to the back of medbay where he just sat down on the floor hanging his head.

And Cody just embraced him, one arm sneaking around his back, joining their hands. For the first time, he truly saw a man in his general. Of course, he knew Obi-Wan wasn't like other nat-borns, he was compassionate and empathetic (and beautiful but it wasn't something Cody was going to tell him now). But until that dreadful moment in Resolute's medbay, he always treated Obi-Wan just like a general. Composed, serious, rarely showing emotions, even if he liked to sometimes joke with troopers. But before he never saw him to behave like a human being. So terrified for his padawan, scared to even let Anakin out of his sight. He felt sorry for Obi-Wan, not like before, because he did feel sorry for him just like he felt sorry for his brothers, that they all had to fight in this war. It was the first time he had seen the general deny something to the council (and he did agree for himself to be fake-killed in the past so that meant something). Without hesitation, just telling them no and disconnecting. He felt Obi-Wan shake in his embrace and without second thought he pressed his lips against Obi-Wan’s temple in a soothing gesture.

And for the first time in years Obi-Wan let himself be comforted instead of comforting someone else. He let himself be held, his mind a bit quieter in Cody's warm embrace, and the dark thoughts almost disappeared when Cody pressed his lips against Obi-Wan’s temple. Warm fingers intertwined with his own, squeezing lightly to make sure he was okay.

He wasn't. But with, Cody for the first time he could.

Neither of them knew when they fell asleep but they both woke up when Kix shook Obi-Wan's shoulder.

"General?" he said, waiting for Obi-Wan to blink a few times before he fully focused on the medic's face. "The surgery went well and he will be waking up soon." Kix smiled lightly before leaving them alone again. Cody definitely wasn't really awake at the beginning but he certainly was now, when the general hugged him, hiding his face in Cody's shoulder.

"Thank you," he whispered. "Thank you for being with me, Cody."

"Always, Obi-Wan." Cody hugged him back. "Always."
