The talks about the upcoming battle and the tactics were long. Much too long if anyone bothered to ask Anakin about it. Nobody did so here they were, the fourth hour into the strategy meeting. Ahsoka was dozing slightly, leaning against his shoulder, and Anakin himself had trouble keeping his eyes open and his mind focused. Obi-Wan, Cody, and Rex seemed to be in the middle of the lively discussion when Obi-Wan looked at him and he suddenly stopped mid-sentence, smiling lightly.
"I think it's time to break the meeting, gentlemen," he said looking at Cody and Rex. "Kids are sleepy."
"I'm not a kid!" Anakin protested loudly, waking Ahsoka.
"I can be the if that means I can go to sleep," she said, yawning. Obi-Wan chuckled, shaking his head.
"I guess I'm tired as well," he admitted. "I'm just better at hiding it."
"Yes, because you're used to not sleeping because the Force will sustain you and then we realize you weren't sleeping for the last three days," Cody answered, rolling his eyes.
Obi-Wan sent him a sleepy smile. And it was when the most unexpected happened. Obi-wan pulled Cody closer by the waist and kissed him sweetly on the lips. Cody wasn't surprised by that and it looked so natural like it wasn't their first kiss. But it was! It had to be, right?
Obi-Wan moved back with a dreamy smile.
"Don't stay up late, my dear," he said to Cody. "We'll be in the hyperspace for two more days."
"I'll try." Cody returned the smile. "Good night, Captain. Don't stay up late, too," Obi-Wan said looking at Rex, who tried his best not to look too surprised. "Goodnight Anakin, Ahsoka. Get some rest while you still can. It won't be an easy campaign."
"Yes, master," they both answered back, still dumbfounded.
Obi-Wan left the room and Cody turned to Rex.
"You're going to need this data?" he asked, gesturing to the holo map they were analyzing earlier.
"No, take it if you want to," Rex answered absent-mindedly.
"Thanks, vod. Sleep well. You too, general, commander," he added looking at Ahsoka and Anakin, and then he left the room, datastick in his hand.
"What the kriff was that," Anakin said as soon as the door closed behind the commander. "You saw that too, right?"
"Yeah, although I'd rather I didn't." Rex shook his head. "It's still my brother."
"Was it their first kiss? And they probably won't remember it because they were half asleep!" Ahsoka complained.
"I have it recorded," Rex admitted.
"Why?"
"When the strategy meetings get longer, I'm starting the recording, so I can review them again if I miss something."
"Good, so we have this one covered."
"Wait, is no one going to say anything about the kiss itself? It was Obi-Wan!" Anakin looked surprised.
"And?" Ahsoka looked at him frowning slightly.
"He is like a perfect Jedi? And now he has attachments?"
"Like you didn't, Skyguy."
"Yeah, but I always sucked in living by the Jedi code! And Obi-Wan?"
"All right, because I feel like this conversation is starting to get pointless,” Rex said, cutting the discussion short. "It is really late and the next time you will be able to sleep peacefully might happen in a month. Go to sleep, kids."
"I'm older than you!" Anakin argued and Rex shook his head with a fond smile.
"And you outrank me, I know, I remember. But I can still worry about you and offer you a piece of advice. And my advice, for now, is to go the kriff to sleep. Respectfully, general, commander."
Anakin snorted.
"You're right. Goodnight, Rex. I hope you'll take your own advice."
"Oh, I'm planning to." Rex grinned.

"Obi-Wan? Can we talk?" Anakin asked entering Obi-Wan's quarters on Negotiator. His old master raised his head from the datapad and smiled.
"Of course. You know you can always come to me." Obi-Wan put the datapad away. "What's on your mind?"
"It's... About yesterday," Anakin said slowly. "The strategy meeting."
"Oh. Do you want to go over it again? Any new insight?"
"No. It's... About what happened after the meeting? Before you left?"
Obi-Wan nodded. He wasn't smiling anymore.
"Ah. That."
"You know, you don't have to worry, I'm not going to tell the council! Ahsoka isn't going to do either, I promise!"
Obi-Wan blinked slowly.
"But... The council knows."
"Seriously? It happened yesterday and you managed to tell the council? You don't have to be so perfect every time!"
"I think I'm not following, Anakin."
"I'm talking about the kiss? It's fine, it happens, you both were tired..."
"Anakin," Obi-Wan cut him off. "It happened before. It happens regularly. That's why the council knows."
"WHAT?!" Anakin stood up, the chair falling on the floor. "But it was your first kiss with Cody? It had to be?"
Obi-Wan snorted.
"I can assure you it wasn't. We, me and Cody are... Close. We were for some time already but never really announced it..." Obi-Wan sighed. "When our relationship started getting more serious, I sought guidance from the Council to make sure I was not losing myself, and that I can still be a Jedi. But, back to the topic." Obi-Wan smiled. "The kiss you, unfortunately, witnessed, might be called a first one if we're talking about the first kiss in front of you. Or anyone, really."
"Why didn't you tell me? That you and Cody are together?" Anakin's voice sounded slightly accusing.
"Why didn't you tell me about you and Padme?"
"Wait, you know?!"
"Anakin. The whole Jedi Council holds a betting pool about when you two go public."
Anakin opened his mouth and closed them, falling silent for a moment.
"It's different," he finally murmured.
"Different how?" Obi-Wan seemed amused.
"Well, I, for one, I'm not in a relationship with my officer!"
"It's a good thing, poor captain could get traumatized if you were."
"Hey!" Anakin exclaimed, barely refraining himself from laughing. "I'm not that bad!"
"No, you're worse." Obi-Wan grinned. "You know, I'm glad you found out about me and Cody. I never talked about it because we, me and Cody, are both rather private people, but at the same moment I didn't want to start this topic with you so you didn't feel pressured to tell me about you and Padme."
Anakin couldn't answer because the door opened and Cody came in.
"Cyare, I wanted..." he stopped when he realized Obi-Wan wasn't alone. "I'm sorry, I wasn't aware you weren't alone, general."
"Drop the act, Cody, I already saw you kissing, it's not like I can bleach my mind and forget about it," Anakin joked. "Listen, everything is cool if you don't hurt my master. But if you do... You will have to deal with me."
"Anakin!" Obi-Wan shook his head. "You're impossible."
Cody smirked and moved around Obi-Wan's desk, leaning to kiss him quickly on the lips. Anakin groaned.
“Can you not do it in front of me?”
“Can you announce publicly your relationship with Senator Amidala?” Cody asked, raising one eyebrow.
“No.”
“Then my answer will be the same.”
Obi-Wan swatted his arm disapprovingly.
“All right, lovebirds, I’ll leave you two alone for now,” Anakin said, standing up. “Just don’t forget about the strategy meeting in two hours. There is something we need to revise.”
When the doors closed behind him, Cody unceremoniously sat on Obi-Wan’s lap.
“So. Did you tell him we are married or…”
“One shock at a time, cyare.” Obi-Wan chuckled. “One shock at a time.”
Unfortunately, Anakin didn’t walk away too far and he heard Cody’s question. So of course he came right back.
“MARRIED?!”
Obi-Wan hid his face in Cody’s shoulder.
