Jongho nearly chokes on nothing, eyes wide as he stares at his sister. His character dies in the video game that he was currently playing, but he hardly pays any mind to the screen as he turns to Seyoung. Yunho, who was sitting next to him, has to bite down on his lip to keep his laughter from spilling out.
“Oh, hi Yunho! Didn't realize you were here… Never mind, then!” Seyoung turns to leave, but Jongho stops her.
“No no no, you get your butt back here,” Jongho huffs. Seyoung groans, turning to face the two again. “Seyoung, he’s about to be twenty. You’re sixteen,” Jongho says pointedly.
“And? He’s cute,” Seyoung huffs, crossing her arms.
“He is, right?” Yunho giggles. Jongho looks over at the elder, his eyes practically screaming at Yunho shut up, you’re not helping. Yunho just smiles, not sparing Jongho a glance as he continues to play the video game.
Jongho groans, rubbing his face as he swivels his chair around to face Seyoung again. “First of all, please never date anyone older than 18 until you’re older than 18. And if any older guy tries to make a move on you, you tell me, okay? I don’t fuck with that shit. You’re still a minor, that’s disgusting and inappropriate.”
“Ugh, you sound just like dad.” Jongho huffs out a laugh at that. His sister had been in her rebellious teenage phase lately, and of course, Jongho has had to step in one too many times to ensure the teenager doesn’t actually end up making the wrong decisions. Honestly, maybe he did sound like his father sometimes, but he was always thinking about his sister’s wellbeing. Always.
“I’m serious. And second of all,” he chuckles, “Mingi is in fact taken, so save yourself the embarrassment and pretend you don’t know him from now on.”
“Well damn, could’ve led with that,” Seyoung huffs.
“Oh, and he also doesn't like women.”
“I can confirm,” Yunho chimes in, laughing as Jongho nudges him in the stomach with his elbow.
Seyoung deflates. “Oh. So I never had a chance.”
“You really didn’t,” Jongho laughs, turning back to his television now that Yunho has claimed the victory for the round and started a new one, waiting for Jongho to join. “Now, thank you for letting me know I have to keep my boyfriend as far away from you as possible.”
Seyoung’s expression morphs into confusion. “Wait, you’re dating him?”
“Mhm,” Jongho hums, focused on the game now.
Seyoung falters, mentally backtracking. “But I thought you were dating Yeosang .”
Jongho nods, still not taking his eyes off the screen. “Mhm.”
“So… You have two boyfriends?”
“Five. Including this one here.” Jongho flicks his head towards Yunho, who just glances back at Seyoung with a shy smile.
“What the-”
“Ah ah,” he smiles smugly, looking back at Seyoung. “Language.”
Seyoung rolls her eyes, leaning against the doorframe with her arms crossed. “Shut up, shithead. How?”
Jongho snorts, shrugging. “I’m just that good.”
Disgusted with the suggestive response but even more confused, Seyoung continues with her questions. “Do they all know?”
“Mhm.”
Even with Jongho’s response, Seyoung still looks over at Yunho, who nods his confirmation. “We do.”
“And they’re fine with it?”
“Well, considering that they’re also dating each other, I would say more than fine,” Jongho laughs.
Seyoung’s flabbergasted at this point. “Dude, I am so lost.”
“Oh, I got you,” Jongho smugly grins. “Door’s right behind you, need a map to get back to your room?”
Ignoring Jongho’s remarks and Yunho’s sudden boisterous laughter, Seyoung huffs, eyeing her brother. “How the fuck does that even work?”
“It’s called polyamory, look it up,” Jongho smirks. “And watch your language.”
Seyoung digs her nails into her arms, fighting the urge to smack Jongho. “You watch yours. How do you even have time?”
Jongho spins around in his chair, smiling smugly at the younger. “I’m an adult unlike you, I can say whatever I want. And like any relationship, you make the time.”
“Well… Are you happy?”
Jongho pauses, not having expected that question. He sits back in his chair, looking over at Yunho with a soft smile. “I am,” he looks back at Seyoung. “I really, really am. Happiest I’ve ever been.”
“Good. I’m glad,” Seyoung smiles softly. “Well, I’ll leave you two to… Whatever the fuck y’all are doing.”
“We’re… Never mind, you wouldn't understand,” Jongho laughs, sitting back in his chair.
Seyoung chuckles, turning to leave the room. She pauses though, turning back to the two. “So if I wanted to, I could have more than one boyfriend?”
“How about you try getting a boyfriend first? And preferably none of mine, please,” Jongho snorts. Seyoung exclaims, shocked and in disbelief, rolling her eyes before turning to stomp off.
“And nobody older than 18!” He shouts after his sister had already gone down the hall, laughing to himself as he sat back in his chair.
“Oh, I am so telling Mingi,” Yunho laughs. “He’s gonna freak out.”
“Nope, we are never speaking about that ever again.” Jongho huffs. “This stays between you and me.”

While he’s waiting for Yeosang’s reply, Hongjoong spots movement out of the corner of his eye, turning to see Seonghwa. Immediately he’s smiling, but his smile slowly fades when he notices the look the elder is giving him.

After glancing down at his phone, Hongjoong internally curses at himself. “Babe-”
“Why did you lie?”
Hongjoong falters. Okay, they’re definitely pissed . “Hwa, it’s been months, it’s really all in the past-”
“I don’t care how long ago it was,” Seonghwa crosses their arms, a frown on their face. “You lied to me, Hongjoong. I was concerned for your wellbeing, and you lied to me. I asked if you were keeping something from me that day, and you lied. And not just to me, but to the others as well I’m assuming. So if you lied to me about this, then what else have you lied about?”
“Nothing, I swear-”
“Can I know that for sure?”
Hongjoong falters, mouth opening and closing as he tries to find the words to say to pacify the other. But only one comes to mind. “No.”
Seonghwa sighs, rubbing their forehead. “Hongjoong,” they look up at the other, “we worked too damn hard on this relationship for you to go back to your old ways. Lying to each other was the main reason we constantly fought in the first place.”
“I haven't been lying! I’ve just…” They lock eyes, and Hongjoong deflates, feeling disappointed in himself. “Been keeping a few secrets,” he mumbles.
Seonghwa sighs heavily, tense. They pinch the bridge of their nose, and Hongjoong feels his heart sink the longer the silence went on.
“We will talk about this later,” they finally say, not looking in Hongjoong’s direction. “I have to get started on dinner, but don’t think I’m letting you off the hook that easily.”
Hongjoong frowns, not wanting Seonghwa to walk away just yet. But he nods anyway, mumbling. “Yes sir.”

The younger six of the group exchange looks with each other, all trying their best to hide their shock at Seonghwa’s tone. Hongjoong only shrinks in on himself, knowing he’s the reason behind Seonghwa’s bad mood. He pokes at his food, suddenly not feeling very hungry anymore.
Wooyoung stands first, quickly and abruptly. “Actually, I gotta pee,” is all he says before he bolts off.
Yeosang’s next to stand, looking between them with a comically nervous expression. “Are you guys thirsty? Lemme go get some drinks from the fridge.”
Jongho stands just after Yeosang darts out, looking sheepish. “I should call my sister, she’s going through it right now.”
And when Jongho leaves, San is next to bolt. “I should help Yeosang!”
Hongjoong and Seonghwa look between Yunho and Mingi confused. Mingi barely pays the two any attention, more focused on filling his stomach up with Seonghwa’s delicious food. Yunho, on the other hand…
“I gotta um… Water the dog.”
Seonghwa watches him scramble to leave with a confused look on their face, looking over at Mingi with questioning eyes.
“Don’t look at me,” Mingi snorts, “I don’t know what they’re on.” He says before shoving another bite in his mouth, sneakily placing his phone on his lap.

Seonghwa gapes at the five as they return to their seats, their excuses overlapping so much they couldn't even pinpoint one out. “I’m… Not even gonna ask, just eat please,” they chuckle, going back to finishing up their own plate in silence.
After dinner, the group split up to do their own things. Wooyoung, Yunho, and Jongho were in the backyard, gleefully chasing and shooting at each other with water guns with Zia running around with them. San and Mingi decided to watch a movie in the living room together, Yeosang reading a book curled up on the recliner adjacent to them. Seonghwa was feeling a bit overwhelmed, so they retreated to their room, choosing to decompress by playing Animal Crossing on their Switch.
And Hongjoong? Well, he was currently standing outside Seonghwa’s open door, mentally hyping himself up to get enough courage to step inside.
He sighs, nervous, fidgeting with his fingers as he heads inside and approaches the elder. “Can we talk?”
Seonghwa sets their Switch aside after pausing their game, looking up at Hongjoong and nodding. Hongjoong hesitates, but when Seonghwa pats the spot next to them with a small smile, he feels a little bit of the anxiety fade away, and he takes a seat.
He’s anxious, quiet as he keeps his gaze fixed on the ground. Seonghwa is patient, waiting for Hongjoong to speak first. “Look,” he finally says, “I’m sorry I lied to you that day. I didn't want you to be mad at me again, but I ended up making you mad anyway.” He looks up at Seonghwa, locking eyes with them. “So I’m sorry. Can you just… Forgive me? At least for the next two weeks? We’re about to go on a vacation, and I just… I wanna have fun with you. I wanna make memories with you, not spend the entire time having you mad at me.”
Seonghwa sighs, resting their hand on top of Hongjoong’s. “Hongjoong, I’m not mad. Well, I was, but honestly after thinking about it, I’m just more upset than anything. I just…” They sit up straighter, turning their whole body to face the other. “Why didn't you just tell me the truth? I mean, we were doing so well, we were opening up to each other and not keeping any secrets, especially not secrets of this scale. And also, you said I was overthinking, and that really upset me, Joong. It upset me then, and it still upsets me now. It makes me feel like you don’t trust me.”
“I do trust you,” Hongjoong quickly says. “God Seonghwa, I trust you more than anybody else on this planet.” He sighs, looking down at their hands. “Look, the main reason I lied was because I… I didn’t want to admit that I fucked up, and that I didn't exactly have a clean streak anymore.”
“But why did that scare you so much?” Seonghwa frowns. “Why couldn't you just come to me? I would've understood, and I would've helped you with whatever you needed.”
“It’s the same reason I freaked out when Wooyoung left after our fight. I was scared that I would get too much for you, and that…” Hongjoong sniffles, quickly blinking away the tears forming in his eyes. “That I would lose you,” he croaks out.
“Hongjoong…” Seonghwa lets out a wet laugh, shaking their head. “You’re forgetting what we went through when we first met. I didn't leave you then, I’m not gonna leave you ever,” Seonghwa sniffles, bringing their hand up to rest on Hongjoong’s face, meeting his eyes. “You’re stuck with me, I don’t give a fuck what you say or do. Whatever problems you, I, or the both of us have, we can always work it out. Together. I love you, Hongjoong. Like so much that it hurts sometimes, I can’t even stand the thought of leaving you.”
Hongjoong leans into the touch, watery eyes glistening up at Seonghwa. “Really?”
“God, yes,” the elder sniffles, wiping away Hongjoong’s tears. “Being away from you hurts. Fighting with you hurts. Even being with you hurts, because in the back of my mind, I know this isn’t forever,” Seonghwa smiles weakly. “We’re gonna grow old and die, and then I won’t be able to be with you anymore, and that hurts a whole fucking lot,” they say, their voice cracking at the end.
The younger’s silent for a moment, before he looks up with a shy smile. “You wanna grow old with me?”
Seonghwa chuckles softly, nodding quickly as they wipe their own tears away. “There’s nothing I want more in the universe.”
Hongjoong laughs, the sound thick with how hard he’s trying to hold in his tears. “Fuck, don’t make me propose to you right now,” he sniffles, intertwining their hands.
Seonghwa smiles softly, bringing their hands up to plant a kiss to Hongjoong’s knuckles. “I wouldn't say no. But let’s wait a little, yeah?”
The smile on Hongjoong’s face grows impossibly wider. “You wouldn’t say no?”
“Down, boy,” Seonghwa laughs as Hongjoong wraps his arms around their waist, pulling them close and onto his lap to nuzzle his head in their neck.
“You’d marry me?” He whispers against their skin, placing a trail of soft kisses up their neck.
“Is this you proposing?” Seonghwa smiles, tangling their fingers in the younger’s hair.
“Nah,” Hongjoong grins, pulling away to look up at them. “You deserve a proper proposal.”
“Shut up,” Seonghwa laughs, pressing a kiss to Hongjoong’s lips. “Don’t lie to me again,” they murmur, resting their foreheads together.
“I wouldn't dream of it,” Hongjoong looks up, getting lost in the other’s eyes. Seonghwa smiles, closing the small gap between them with a passionate kiss.
