Chapter Text
It was a normal day in the Port Mafia. Everyone was either doing their own thing or out on a mission. It was nice and quiet for the people who were doing their own thing. Well, that’s if you can block out the occasional yelling from Chuuya Nakahara and Osmau Dazai.
Even though Chuuya had only joined the Port Mafia around a year ago, Dazai and him were practically attached by the hip. It was very rare to see one of them alone without the other being there. Now, Mori didn’t mind this because after all ‘a diamond can only be polished with another diamond.’ he likes to say. After a while, Mori had started to send Dazai and Chuuya together on missions.
One day, Mori had sent them out on a mission together. The mission was to take out an enemy organization. What Mori didn’t expect is for the two of them to take out said enemy organization overnight.
Ever since that mission the two of them have been referred to as Soukoku or Double black…
During one of Chuuya and Dazai arguments on whether Chuuya's fashion was tacky, Dazai’s phone had started to ring. “Great, who’s calling me?” Dazai mumbled, shuffling his hands in his pockets looking for his phone. “I’m surprised anyone would want to call you.” Chuuya said with a snark in his voice. Once Dazai had found his phone he saw that his boss, Mori, was the one calling him. He rolled his eyes and groaned as he stared at his phone. He was debting on answering the phone or watch it ring. The latter seemed like the better option to Dazai. Although, he had a gut feeling that might be just a tad bit important so unfortunately he had to go for the former option.
“What do you want, Mori?” Dazai asked, unenthusiastically. Chuuya tilted his head to the side a bit, “What could the boss need?” He had thought. Dazai groaned again, “Yeah yeah, we’ll be there in a bit.” Dazai responded before hanging up on Mori. “Well? What did the Boss need?” Chuuya asked, trailing a bit behind Dazai as he started to walk off without Chuuya. “Mori needs us in his office. Probably another boring mission he wants to assign us.” Dazai explained as he waved his hands around a bit. Chuuya hummed, “I wonder what kind of mission it’ll be this time.” He thought.
The last couple of missions Dazai and Chuuya had been sent on were easy. They didn’t understand why Mori would send both of them on the mission. One of the other Port Mafia members could do it. Hell, Dazai and Chuuya could’ve done it alone if they wanted too! Nonetheless, Chuuya hadn’t questioned the Boss unlike Dazai who would constantly ask him questions such as, “Why would you send us both out to such an easy mission?”, which was the only question Chuuya could think at the top of his head. Mainly because that question is always asked by Dazai even if they had found it a tiny bit difficult. Which has been very rare recently.
Once Chuuya stopped whatever he was thinking about, he realized he was only a couple feet away from the Boss’s office.
When the two got in front of the door, Chuuya had lifted his hand up to knock on the door so he would not come off as disrespectful. Before he could, Dazai opened the door and barged into Mori’s office. Chuuya rolled his eyes and kicked Dazai in the back of his ankle, “You’re so fucking rude Dazai.” He mumbled even though Mori could probably hear him. “Ow! You’re so mean Chuuya!” Dazai said dramatically.
Mori knew that this is how the boys always acted around each other. It’s rare for anyone to see the two of them not yelling and fighting with each other. “Chuuya, Dazai! Please come take a seat!” Mori said a bit too happy. The two boys looked at each other for a brief second before going to take a seat in front of Mori. Mori gave them a small smile, “I’m sure the two of you can guess on what I’m going to say.” Dazai sighed, “You’re assigning us on another boring mission.” Dazai said, not even skipping a beat. “Well, I hope this mission is enough to satisfy both your own tastes.” Mori said, still having a creepy smile on his face.
Dazai knew that Mori really couldn’t care if it satisfied Chuuya’s and his taste. Dazai is sure that Chuuya knew that too.
Dazai sighed, “Can you just give us the mission details? I don’t want to be here any longer. It’s annoying enough that I have to sit here and listen to your voice.” He remarked to Mori. Dazai had seen in the corner of his eye that Chuuya wasn’t happy with him by disrespecting Mori. Truthfully, Dazai could care less if he disrespected Mori. Chuuya being unhappy with him won’t change that. “Oh Dazai, don’t be like that. It’s not like this mission can be completed in a day anyway.” Mori said, moving his hand around a bit. “What do you mean, Boss?” Chuuya questioned. Dazai would have answered the question for Chuuya but he was too busy trying to look for Elise who was nowhere in sight. “Probably in a different room.” Dazai could only assume. “It means this mission will be a long-term mission.” Mori explained, “This mission could take weeks, months, or even years.” Chuuya’s eyes shot open but quickly regained his composure. “What’s so important about this mission that it could take that long?” Chuuya question. “It’s an infiltration mission, isn’t it?” Dazai asked, his boredom being shown on his face. “An infiltration mission? It wouldn’t be our first one but why would it take months or years to do?” Chuuya thought to himself.
Mori saw the expression on Chuuya’s face. “You seem to be in deep thought Chuuya. In that case, I will be explaining the details to the mission now,” Mori said, snapping Chuuya out of his thoughts immediately when he said that. Dazai sighed, “This could’ve been such a long time ago if Chuuya didn’t ask so many questions!” he thought.
Mori opened a drawer and grabbed a file out of it before closing it, “Have you two ever heard of the school called UA?” Mori asked, placing the file in front of him. Chuuya shook his head, Dazai doing the same before he had put two and two together. “Don’t tell me that UA is some type of hero school.” Dazai said.
Dazai had thought Mori had said the Japanese word ‘Yuuei’ which means hero. It took Dazai a couple of seconds before realizing that Mori had just meant the letters U and A. It was only another couple seconds later that Dazai had put the puzzle pieces together that Mori was talking about a hero school.
“I knew I could count on you to figure it out Dazai!” Mori said happily. Dazai rolled his eyes. “As Dazai had said. UA is a hero school.” Mori said. “With all due respect Boss but why are you sending us to a hero school? We’re in the mafia, sending us to a hero school seems dumb.” Chuuya said, trying not to sound disrespectful to Mori. “I’m repaying a favor to an old friend.” Is all that Mori had said. “He requested that I send my two best people to UA.” Mori said, pushing the file closer to Dazai and Chuuya. “Everything you need to know about every student and the school is here.” Mori said, putting his hand under his chin.
Chuuya and Dazai looked at each other before Dazai grabbed the file. Once Dazai grabbed the file they both got up and were ready to leave Mori’s office. “I forgot to mention.” Mori said before the two boys could walk out of his office. “Don’t tell anyone you’re from Yokohama. It could screw up this whole mission. You will be leaving tomorrow in the morning so get packing. I would recommend packing the most casual clothes you have. Either way some clothes will be given to you in the morning. As for your transportation, Hirotsu will be driving you two to the train station.” Mori said, his eyes now open. “You may leave now.” Dazai opened the door and left Mori’s office, Chuuya trailing behind him.
“This is so stupid. I can’t believe we have to go to a hero school!” Chuuya said, his tone a bit loud. “You should be complaining about that to Mori, not me.” Dazai said, waving his left hand in front of Chuuya. “I tried! All he said is that he was repaying a favor!” Chuuya exclaimed, throwing his arms up. “I know, I was there.” Dazai replied.
As Chuuya continued to walk to his apartment he realized that Dazai was still following him, “Why the hell are you following me still?” Chuuya said, tilting his head up a bit so he could look at Dazai. “My clothes are at your apartment. Either way, don't you want to look at the file together, Chibi?” Dazai said, waving the file around. “I told you to stop calling me that asshole!” Chuuya said, pissed off with the nickname Dazai called him. “It’s not my fault you’re so small like a chibi!” Dazai said, pissing Chuuya off even more.
Chuuya tried to punch Dazai but Dazai had run a bit in front of Chuuya, barely missing his punch. This ultimately led Chuuya to chase Dazai all the way to his apartment. By the time the two of them got to Chuuya’s apartment they were both out of breath. Chuuya grabbed his keys out of his pocket, opening the door to his apartment. Dazai went in before Chuuya could and closed and locked the door on him. “What the hell asshole!?” Chuuya yelled, unlocking his door again. Although, every time Chuuya tried to unlock the door Dazai would just lock it again. This had gone on for around five minutes before Dazai got bored doing it over and over again.
Finally, Chuuya was able to enter his own apartment. When Chuuya walked in he noticed Dazai sitting on his couch, “Get the hell off of my couch!” Chuuya said, walking over to the kitchen. “But Chuuya! My legs are so tired they need a break!” Dazai exclaimed. “If you are going to be sitting on my couch, go take a shower! You smell like shit!” Chuuya said, making Dazai get off his couch. After Chuuya made sure Dazai got in the shower he threw some clothes in there for him to sleep in.
When Chuuya looked at the time he saw that it was 7:30PM, “I guess I should make dinner.” He thought, grabbing a pan and several different ingredients. “I was in the mood for rice curry. Dazai is here though and it’s like the only thing he eats is crab.” Chuuya's thoughts continued as he turned on the stove. “I suppose I can still make rice curry with some crab in it.” Chuuya decided, going to his pantry to see if he had any crab, “I suppose canned crab can work.” He closed the door to his pantry and started to make the food.
Thirty minutes later Dazai had finally got done with his shower. He turned off the water and grabbed a towel Chuuya had given him. As he was trying to dry off his hair, he smelled Chuuya’s cooking, “I wonder what Chuuya is making.” He thought, grabbing the clothes that Chuuya had so nicely put on the counter for Dazai.
Once Dazai finished changing he put his clothes in a basket that Chuuya had in there. Dazai then started to look under the sink for any bandages Chuuya might have. “Here we go.” Dazai thought as he found a couple rolls of bandages Chuuya had in the back corner. It took Dazai around five-ish minutes to finish putting the bandages on. Once Dazai was done with everything he put it away and turned off the light to Chuuya’s bathroom and left to go see what food Chuuya was making.
“Chuuya~!” Dazai said, walking over to the kitchen. Once Dazai walked in the kitchen he saw Chuuya putting food in two bowls. “Oh good, you’re out. Here’s your food.” Chuuya said, putting chopsticks on top of Dazai’s serving of food and gave it to him. “What is it?” Dazai asked, mixing the food around to try to figure out what it is. “It’s rice curry but it has some crab in it.” Chuuya said as he turned off the rice cooker he had left on and grabbed his serving of food. “I added some soy sauce but you can add more if you want.” Chuuya told Dazai as he walked over to the dining table. Dazai put his serving of food on the table before he went back over to the couch to grab the file.
Dazai put the file on the dining table and opened it, “How about we discuss our mission over food?” Dazai said, grabbing the first thing he saw. It was a picture of the school, “That’s a huge ass school.” Chuuya said, bringing more food to his mouth. “You can say that again.” Dazai said, grabbing more papers that were labeled ‘Student’s Information.’ Dazai smiled a bit, “Now this can be useful.” He thought, taking the paper clip off. Chuuya grabbed the papers from Dazai, “I’ll read it to you. You’ve barely eaten.” Chuuya said, grabbing a student’s paper that was named ‘Yuga Aoyama.’ Chuuya looked at the paper with a weird expression, “Why did they order this so weird?” He thought. “Aww! Chuuya cares about me!” Dazai said, taking small bites out of his food. Chuuya’s head shot up, “What?! I don’t care for you! I just don’t want my cooking to go to waste” He exclaimed. Dazai smiled, “Whatever you say Chibi.” taking another bite out of his food. Chuuya rolled his eyes, “Just shut up and listen.” Chuuya put the paper in one of his hands and held his chopsticks in his other hand.
Chuuya cleared his throat before he started talking, “Yuga Aoyama, 15 years old, born on May 30th, he is 5 '6 or 168 centimeters. His quirk is Navel Laser.” Chuuya paused and looked up at Dazai, “What the hell is a quirk?” Chuuya got up from his seat to grab something to drink as Dazai thought about his question. “I assume it’s a power. Maybe like our abilities but not as strong.” Dazai answered as Chuuya came back with a bottle of wine and a glass. “Should you really be drinking Chibi?” Dazai said. Chuuya shrugged, “It’s gonna be my last time for a while before I get to drink wine again. I might as well drink before the mission tomorrow.” Chuuya said, pouring himself a glass and grabbed the paper again. “His quirk allows him to shoot a powerful sparkling laser cannon from his navel. Apparently, it is so powerful it can blast through two meters of solid concrete. Although, if he fires a laser for more than one second at a time, he will suffer from intestinal disease.” Chuuya said, finishing one paper. Chuuya gave Dazai a picture of Aoyama, “Here’s what he looks like.” Chuuya said, taking a sip out of his wine. “He seems like he likes the attention on him.” Dazai said, almost done with his curry. Chuuya shrugged as he grabbed another student's file, “This is gonna take longer than I expected.” Chuuya thought as he looked to see how many students there were.
Around an hour later Chuuya had read all of the students' files as Dazai listened. Chuuya’s throat felt dry, “Well? Did you notice anything?” Chuuya asked as grabbed both his and Dazai’s empty bowls along with the empty glass of wine and the bottle. “None of the other student’s files said anything about the age they got their quirk, correct?” Dazai said, getting up from his chair and following Chuuya to the kitchen. Chuuya thought about it for a bit, “I don’t believe so. I think the only person that said the age they got their quick was that Midoriya kid.” Chuuya said, placing the bowls and glass in the sink. Dazai hummed, “That’s what I thought. I wonder why it mentioned his age.” Dazai said, leaning a bit on the counter. Chuuya put the wine bottle in the cabinet before he jumped on the counter and sat down, sitting across from Dazai, “You think somethings off with him?” Chuuya asked. “Maybe, it’s weird to say the age a single kid got their quirk and not the rest of them.” Dazai reasoned with Chuuya.
After talking a bit more about the mission Chuuya realized it was almost 10PM. Chuuya stretched, “I’m gonna go take a shower now.” He said, hopping off the counter and walking to his room. “Make sure to trip in the shower!” Dazai yelled and Chuuya just responded with his middle finger.
Dazai walked over to a guest room that Chuuya lets him use whenever he’s over at his apartment. “We didn’t argue as much as I thought we would’ve.” Dazai thought as he opened the door to the guest room. “Were Chuuya and I actually getting along for once?” Dazai closed the door behind him and turned on the light. “No, why would the slug and I get along? It was probably just because we were talking about the mission the whole time.” Was the conclusion Dazai came too.
Dazai was about to turn off the light to the room before he realized he hadn’t packed. Dazai groaned, “Packing is so much work! I don’t even have a suitcase!” He thought. He started to think, “Chuuya probably has extra suitcases. Where would he keep them though?” He asked himself. “In his closet most likely.” Dazai thought that was a reasonable answer.
He left the guest room and went over to Chuuya’s room. Dazai tried to open the door to Chuuya’s room but he had locked it. Dazai groaned, “Great! Now I have to wait for him to get out of the shower!” He thought, now walking to the living room to wait for Chuuya.
Now, Dazai could’ve picked the lock to Chuuya’s room if he really wanted to but he didn’t want to deal with Chuuya’s yelling when he wanted to actually try to get some sleep.
Forty-five minutes later Dazai had finally heard Chuuya turn off the shower, “About time!” He exclaimed in his head. It took Chuuya ten more minutes to finish getting changed and to dry off his hair.
When Chuuya came out of his room he saw Dazai sitting on the couch, “What the hell are you doing?” He asked, confused on why Dazai wasn’t in his room. “Finally! I’ve been waiting here forever!” Dazai exclaimed, getting up from the couch. “Why were you even waiting in the first place?” Chuuya questioned Dazai, putting one hand on his hip. “I was about to go to sleep but then I realized that I needed to pack. Then, I realized that I didn’t have a suitcase!” Dazai said, explaining to Chuuya. “Okay? What do you want me to do about it?” Chuuya asked. “Isn’t it obvious Chibi? I was wondering if you had an extra one!” Dazai said as if Chuuya should’ve known that’s what Dazai had wanted. Chuuya sighed, “I might have one.” He said as he walked back into his room, Dazai following behind him. “I’m surprised you just didn’t pick my lock.” Chuuya said as he walked into his closet. “I was but I decided I didn’t want to deal with your yelling.” Dazai said. “Why is your closet so big?” He questioned as he looked around Chuuya’s closet. Chuuya shrugged his shoulders, “I don’t know.” Chuuya answered as he looked around for a suitcase.
After looking around his closet Chuuya had found a spare suitcase on the top. “There’s one up there.” He pointed to the extra suitcase. Dazai looked at the suitcase and Chuuya, “Aren’t you gonna get it for me?” Dazai said, knowing full well that Chuuya couldn’t reach it. Chuuya gave him an unimpressed look, Dazai laughed a bit, “I’m just kidding Chibi!” Dazai said as he tried to reach for the suitcase. As tall as Dazai may be, he could barely grab the suitcase. Chuuya let out a small chuckle, “I thought you were so tall Dazai?” Dazai looked at Chuuya, “Shut up. How do I get it?” He asked Chuuya. Chuuya shrugged his shoulders, “How am I supposed to know? Aren’t you supposed to be the genius?” Chuuya asked rhetorically.
Dazai thought about it for a bit, “Get on my shoulders.” He said as he knelt down so Chuuya could get on his shoulders. “What! No way!” Chuuya said, not wanting to get on his shoulders. “C’mon Chu! It’s either you help me get the suitcase or we both have to deal with Mori in the morning.” Dazai said, making a good point to Chuuya. Chuuya groaned, “Your nicknames suck, don’t call me that again. I can’t even use my ability.” Chuuya said, mumbling the last sentence.
Chuuya gave in and climbed on Dazai’s shoulders. When Dazai stood up it was unstable to say the least. “Stop moving around so much! I’m gonna fall!” Chuuya said, pulling on Dazai’s hair. “Ow, ow, ow! Stop pulling on my hair! Just grab the suitcase before you fall!” Dazai said, shaking his head a bit trying to make the pain go away. Chuuya reached for the suitcase and grabbed it. Although, the weight of the suitcase made it even more unstable, “I got it!” Chuuya said. Once Chuuya got the suitcase Dazai started to tumble a bit: Dazai wasn’t the strongest person so it was a surprise he was able to carry Chuuya. When Dazai tried to kneel back down he had fallen over, dragging Chuuya and the suitcase down with him.
Both of the teenagers groaned in pain, “I told you to stop moving around so much!” Chuuya said, grabbing the side of his head. “It’s not my fault! The suitcase just made it really unstable!” Dazai said, trying to defend himself.
After a couple of seconds of silence, Chuuya and Dazai started to laugh. All the laughter started to make their stomach hurt, “Stop laughing!” Chuuya said in between laughs. “You stop laughing!” Dazai said, trying to calm himself down.
After a couple minutes of more laughing the two of them had finally stopped laughing. Both of them had gotten up from the floor and Chuuya had grabbed the extra suitcase. “Here’s your stupid suitcase.” Chuuya said, giving the suitcase to Dazai. “Now, get out of my room. I still need to pack as well.” Chuuya told Dazai, pushing him out of his closet. “Okay! Okay! I’m going!” Dazai remarked to Chuuya, walking out of his room. “Night Mackerel.” Is the last thing Chuuya had said to Dazai.
Dazai looked at Chuuya’s door for a bit before going off to the guest room. Dazai went back into the guest room and put the suitcase on the floor, “Casual clothes?” He thought. “Do I even have anything casual?” He mumbled as he looked in different drawers. He didn’t have anything that was casual. He just had some white shirts and black pants so he just packed multiple pairs of those. Along with the pair of black shoes. “It’s fine. We were told clothes were going to be given to us in the morning.” Dazai thought, closing the suitcase.
After Dazai had packed whatever he thought was casual, he threw the suitcase to another side of the room. Dazai got into the bed he regularly used. Once he got comfortable in the bed; he closed his eyes.
He is just hoping he can get some sleep tonight.
IN THE MORNING
Dazai stretched as he got up from the bed. He was honestly hoping to get some sleep last night but ended up getting at least 30 minutes to an hour of sleep. Dazai was never able to sleep well at night, at least when he wanted to sleep at night. Whenever he doesn’t want to sleep at night he sleeps like a baby. Although, it might be because he sleeps during the day sometimes, “Looks like I won’t be able to sleep during the day as much.” Dazai thought, draping his legs over the bed, his feet touching the wooden floor.
Dazai stared at the wall for a while until he heard a knock on the door, “Get up Dazai! I made breakfast!” Dazai heard Chuuya say as he walked away from the door. “I don’t really want breakfast.” He thought, “It never settles in my stomach right.” Dazai got up from the bed, putting on a pair of slippers he had next to the bed.
Dazai opened the door and walked over to the kitchen. Chuuya had a bowl in one hand and poured a liquid in it with the other hand, “He made soup? An odd choice for breakfast if you ask me. I was expecting something a bit more solid, not liquid.” Dazai thought as he sat down at the dinner table. Chuuya brought two bowls to the table, one for Dazai and one for himself. “Here it's Miso Soup.” Chuuya said, placing the bowl down in front of Dazai with a spoon already in the bowl. “Miso Soup is a weird choice for breakfast don’t you think? Isn’t something solid better?” Dazai asked, taking a sip out of the soup, “Not bad.” He thought. “I was gonna make like omelets or something but I noticed that solid foods for breakfast doesn’t sit right with you. I figured soup was the better option. Plus, it’s easy to make” Chuuya said, occasionally taking small sips out of his soup as well.
Dazai smiled, “Y’know Chibi,” He started, Chuuya glared at him when he heard the nickname, “For some who claims they don’t care about me; you really seem to notice small things about me.” Dazai said, taking another sip of his soup. Chuuya rolled his eyes, “I just don’t want to be the one responsible for you when you pass out because you didn’t eat breakfast.” Chuuya responded, not telling the full truth.
Chuuya is sure that Dazai knew he wasn’t telling the full truth.
Although, Dazai didn’t push any further and continued to eat his soup. Chuuya sighed in relief.
Dazai didn’t check the clock when he woke up but he’s assuming it’s around 6:30 AM. Dazai had come to the conclusion that Chuuya had woken them up early so they could eat breakfast and get ready, “He’s also probably waiting for the clothes.” Dazai thought, taking more sips of his soup, only halfway done with his soup. Unlike Dazai, Chuuya had finished his soup pretty quickly because he ate a good amount before he woke up Dazai. Chuuya had got up from the dinner table to go put the dirty bowl in the sink. As Dazai was staring at the chair Chuuya was previously sitting at; he heard someone knock on the door.
Dazai saw Chuuya walk over to the front door and look through the peephole. Dazai laughed silently when he saw Chuuya go on his tippy-toes just to reach the height of the peephole. “It’s probably someone bringing our clothes.” Dazai thought as he ate his soup; watching the door the whole time.
Dazai watched as Chuuya opened the door, “Hey Hirotsu.” Chuuya said as he opened the door. “I guess I should’ve expected Hirotsu to bring our clothes.” Dazai said, almost done with his soup, now looking away from the door. “Greetings Chuuya. I hope I didn’t bother you.” Hirotsu said, his voice sounding a bit raspy due to all the cigarettes he smokes. Chuuya shook his head, “You didn’t. Would you like to come in?” Chuuya said, moving a bit to the side so Hirotsu could come in. “If you wouldn’t mind.” He said walking into Chuuya’s apartment; two bags in each hand.
As Hirotsu walked in the apartment he saw Dazai at the dinner table, who was almost done with his soup. “Greetings Dazai. I wasn’t expecting you to be here of all places.” Hirotsu said, looking back at Chuuya who rolled his eyes, “You can place the bags on the counter.” Chuuya said. “Thank you Chuuya” Hirotsu said, placing the bags on the counter as Chuuya said he could.
Chuuya took a glance at Dazai who was done with his food. “Would you like some food Hirotsu? It’s Miso Soup.” Chuuya said. Hirotsu simply just shook his head, “No thank you Chuuya. I’m not hungry as of right now.” He said, kindly declining his offer. Chuuya shrugged his shoulders, “Would you like to stay here until we have to leave then?” Chuuya asked as he walked over to Dazai to grab his bowl.
Dazai didn’t even realize he finished his soup until Chuuya took the bowl away from him. “If it doesn’t bother you.” Hirotsu responded. “It’s fine with me. You can take a seat on the couch.” Chuuya said as he walked into the kitchen.
Dazai got up from the table to look at the bags. They both had tags with their names on it. Dazai opened his bag and looked at what was inside of it.
When he opened his bag he saw a couple of plain colored jackets that had both light and dark colors. He moved some of the clothes around and saw mainly black pants. Dazai moved the clothes around some more in search of shirts. Dazai had finally found some at the bottom of the bag; both long and short sleeved shirts. “This is gonna have to work. We’re probably going to have to buy more though since both of ours are probably dark colored clothes. We might stand out if we wear dark clothes.” Dazai thought as he closed the bag.
Chuuya walked over to the counter where Dazai was and grabbed his bag. “Did your clothes look decent?” He asked as he opened his bag. Dazai shrugged his shoulders, “For me there are mainly dark clothes. I won’t be surprised if the same is for you.” Dazai responded as he walked over to the couch where Hirotsu was sitting.
When Chuuya opened his bag the first thing he saw were a couple of tank tops which were mainly white and black, “Not too out of the ordinary.” Chuuya thought as he moved the tank tops out of the way to find pants. Chuuya found multiple pairs of cargo pants and a pair of ripped jeans. Chuuya also found some cropped shirts, “What the hell?” He thought. He grabbed one of the cropped shirts and looked at it for a bit, “I guess I can wear this to sleep.” He thought, stuffing the shirt to the bottom of the bag. Once Chuuya was sure he saw everything he closed the bag.
When Chuuya was walking over to the couch he heard Dazai talking to Hirotsu. “Hirotsu, how far away is the school from here?” Chuuya asked, the bag in one of his hands. Hirotsu thought about it, “I would estimate it to be around 4-5 hours from here.” He answered.
Both Chuuya and Dazai groaned, “No way I have to be on a train for that long with a slug!” Dazai said, throwing himself back on the couch. “Like if I wanna be on a train with you for that long!” Chuuya remarked back to Dazai. “Speaking of the train. We should be taking off soon.” Hirotsu said as he got up from the couch. “Are you bringing the bag with you Dazai?” Chuuya asked before Dazai went off to his room, “Eh i’m gonna try to stuff it into the suitcase. It’ll be too much work trying to hold two things at the same time!” Dazai exclaimed as he walked off into his room. Chuuya sighed, he should've expected that answer from Dazai.
Chuuya walked to his own room and closed the door. Chuuya went over to his closet and looked at the choices he had. After a couple of minutes Chuuya grabbed a leather jacket, a gray jacket he hadn’t used in a while, some black pants that had a chain hanging from it, and some black shoes. Once Chuuya got everything on he grabbed his suitcase he left by his bed and grabbed the bag. He looked at his room one last time before he left the room.
When Chuuya entered the living room he saw Hirotsu and Dazai waiting for him. “God, I knew there was another reason I called you a slug.” Dazai said, loudly, his suitcase and the bag that had the clothes Hirotsu brought next to his side. “Hah!? Shut up Dazai!” Chuuya said, nearly dropping his bags in blind rage. As Dazai was about to say something back to Chuuya, Hirotsu stepped in, “Let’s go boys.” Stopping the meaningless argument between them.
Dazai grabbed his bags and stuck his tongue out at Chuuya as he ran out of Chuuya’s apartment. “Damn you!” Chuuya said, chasing Dazai out of his apartment. Hirotsu slowly walked behind the two of them, closing the door to Chuuya’s apartment.
When Hirotsu walked out of the apartment to his car he saw the two boys running around it, yelling back and forth at each other, “Children.” He thought with a smile on his face. Hirotsu opened the car and walked over to the driver’s seat. When Chuuya and Dazai saw Hirotsu get into the car they both stopped arguing, Dazai sticking his tongue out at Chuuya again while Chuuya flipped Dazai off. Dazai opened the trunk of Hirotsu’s car and put his suitcase and bag in. When Chuuya was going to put his stuff in the trunk, Dazai closed the trunk and ran into the car. Chuuya groaned out of annoyance and opened the trunk again to put his stuff in. Hirotsu put the keys in the car, “You boys got everything you need?” He asked as he turned the keys. “I think so. “Yeah.” They both responded at the same time.
Dazai was sure he got everything he needed. Chuuya wasn’t as sure as Dazai was but he thinks he got everything.
Once Hirotsu got confirmation from Chuuya and Dazai, he started to drive to the train station. Hirotsu knew that the drive to the station wasn’t going to be peaceful since it was Chuuya and Dazai he was driving there and he was right. Dazai immediately started to make fun of Chuuya for his height and how he could barely reach the floor. Chuuya defended himself with his classic, ‘I’m only fifteen! I’m still growing!” defense. Hirotsu laughed quietly as the boys argued. In the corner of his eye, he saw a bag Mori gave them. Hirotsu grabbed the bag and held it out for one of the boys to grab, “What is this?” Chuuya asked as he grabbed the bag before Dazai could. Dazai tried to grab the bag from Chuuya but Chuuya was practically kicking Dazai away from him. “There’s four phones in there.” Hirotsu started to explain, “Two for the each of you. One will be used to contact us, the port mafia, and the other will basically be a burner phone. It will be used for ‘family’ only and for whatever friends you make at UA.” Hirotsu finished explaining as the boys continued to fight. “What’s the point of having a burner phone?”Chuuya asked as he tried his best to keep Dazai away from the bag. “It’s so if they want to go through our phones they won’t see all the mafia contacts! I would say use that brain of yours but it is so small even the smallest amount of thinking would hurt your head!” Dazai said, still not giving up on trying to get the phone from Chuuya.
Chuuya ended up kicking him in the gut at some point which made Dazai lay off of trying to steal the bag from him. Although, that didn’t stop Dazai from making small comments about Chuuya. Hirotsu didn’t know how they had so much energy for it being 7:00 in the morning. At some point it had gotten a bit too quiet for Hirotsu’s liking. He had thought one of them had actually successfully killed each other. When Hirotsu looked in his rearview mirror it turned out both of them had actually fallen asleep.
Dazai had his head against the window, his hand holding onto Chuuya’s head as if to make sure he was still there with him. Chuuya was laying on Dazai’s legs, sleeping peacefully. Hirotsu smiled as he looked back on the road. “At least the rest of the car ride will be quiet.” He thought as he turned the song on the radio up a bit.
Thirty minutes later, they had finally arrived at the train station. Hirotsu put the car in park and turned around to slightly shake one of the boys. He decided to wake up Chuuya first, “Chuuya,” Hirotsu whispered, “Wake up. We’re here.” After shaking Chuuya a couple more times, Chuuya slowly started to get up. Chuuya rubbed his eyes to get the drowsiness out of him. He then started to look around his location, then he spotted himself on Dazai. Chuuya scrambled to get up from Dazai. “Is he awake?!” Chuuya whispered to Hirotsu. Hirotsu shook his head and Chuuya sighed in relief. He wouldn’t hear the end of it from Dazai if he was awake.
Chuuya then started to violently shake Dazai to get him awake. Dazai immediately woke up, “No need to shake me so violently Chuuya!” Dazai said. Chuuya rolled his eyes, “Get up. We’re here.” Is all Chuuya said before getting out of the car, “Not like I couldn’t tell.” Dazai mumbled as he got out of the car.
Hirotsu opened the trunk for the two boys and got their stuff out for them. “Would you like me to escort you to the train platform or will you boys be alright?” Hirotsu asked, closing the trunk to the car. “We’ll be fine. Thank you for driving us here, Hirotsu.” Chuuya answered, draping the bag over his shoulders. Hirotsu nodded, “You two be safe on this mission. I’ll be taking my leave now.” Hirotsu said, waving goodbye to the two boys.
Chuuya and Dazai watched as Hirotsu drove off from the airport. “Here Chibi! Hold my bag!” Dazai said, shoving his bag in Chuuya’s hand. “What the hell! I’m not gonna hold your shit!” Chuuya said as he threw the bag on the ground. “C’mon Chuuya~! Please just do this one thing for me! My arms are so tired!” Dazai complained. “He hasn’t even done anything!” Chuuya thought. Although Chuuya knew Dazai, he knew if he didn’t carry Dazai’s bag Dazai would just be bothering Chuuya the whole time; not letting him get any sleep. Chuuya gave in and used his ability to hold Dazai’s bag. “Good dog.” Dazai said, petting Chuuya’s head as if he really were a dog. “I’m not your fucking dog!” Chuuya yelled as he followed Dazai. “Ah! But you follow my orders and follow me around just like a dog would!” Dazai said with a smile on his face. Chuuya tried to get Dazai but he had dodged it, “You shouldn’t be trying to hurt your owner, Chuuya!” Dazai said, fake hurt being shown on his face. “I said I'm not your dog, damn it!” Chuuya yelled.
It took a couple of minutes to calm down, “Where’s the ticket booth?” He asked as he looked around for one. Dazai looked around for a bit before finding one, “Over here.” Dazai and Chuuya then started to walk over to the ticket booth. Luckily, there weren't any people at the ticket booth they found so they didn’t have to deal with anyone.
“Where are you two heading?” The ticket master asked. “Musutafu, two tickets please.” Dazai asked, his fake smile on his face. “Of course.” The ticket master said as he printed out two tickets. “What do you boys plan on doing there?” The ticker master asked, the first ticket almost done printing. Dazai and Chuuya looked at each other before Dazai answered, “We’re just traveling around Japan.” Was the answer Dazai gave.
They didn't know if they should be telling anyone if they’re going to UA. Dazai is sure people from outside of Musutafu go there to try to become a hero. However, Mori told them to not tell anyone they’re from Yokohama. They don’t think they should be telling people from Yokohama that they are going to UA.
The ticket master smiled, “Well you two have safe travels.” He said as he handed Dazai both of the tickets. “Your train is going to be leaving in ten minutes.” He said as the two boys took off trying to find their train.
Dazai looked at the tickets and then at the screen that was hanging from the ceiling. There was a part that said ‘Musutafu train’ with an arrow pointing right so that’s the direction they headed.
With only two minutes to spare, the boys had made it to their train. Dazai showed the ticket collector both of their tickets. The ticket collector looked at the tickers closely before handing the tickets back to Dazai and giving him a small bow, “Enjoy your train ride, gentlemen.” Dazai and Chuuya boarded the train. “This is Ryan, the conductor of this train, please sit down and enjoy the train ride.” Dazai and Chuuya looked around to find an empty seat booth.
Finally, they found one in the back of the train. Chuuya groaned as threw all his stuff in the seat in front of them. “That was way too close for my liking,” Chuuya said as he sat next to the window. “I hate to agree with you Chibi.” Dazai said as he put his stuff down with Chuuya’s. Chuuya looked out the window, the train was slowly starting to move. “How long till we get there?” Chuuya asked, looking back at Dazai. “The train should take around four hours to get there .The train is barely taking off at,” Dazai trailed off as he grabbed one of the phones Hirotsu gave them, “7:45 AM so we should get there at like 11:30ish maybe.” Dazai said he wasn’t the best at calculating time since he is still tired from having to run but he thinks his answer is close enough.
Chuuya seemed to accept it because he put his head back against the window. Dazai grabbed the files for the entrance exam. There was going to be a written test, a practical test, and an interview at the end. Dazai is positive he will do amazing in the written test. “Chuuya should be able to barely pass it.” Dazai thought.
Dazai has always been the brain of the two of them while Chuuya has always been the fighter and the more physical person.
Which is why Dazai is sure Chuuya is going to be better than him in the practical test. It is something to do with fighting after all.
Dazai sighed, “Have you read the files for the entrance exam, Chibi?” He asked. He knew that Chuuya hadn’t since he was more focused on the students than the exam. Chuuya tensed up, “There’s an entrance exam?” He asked, turning his head to Dazai. “Of course he didn’t know.” Dazai thought. He sighed once again, “So irresponsible Chuuya! Of course there’s an entrance exam!” Dazai said, pushing the file into Chuuya’s hand. Chuuya grabbed the file from Dazai, “There’s going to be a written test, a practical test, and an interview to top it all off!” Dazai exclaimed. Chuuya groaned, “This is just great!” He said, annoyed as he looked through the file. “We have to write the history of Musutafu?” Chuuya asked, looking back up at Dazai, “I don’t know jack shit about the history of that place!” Chuuya slightly yelled, throwing the file on the seat.
Dazai didn’t know he could sigh so much in such a short amount of time because he sighed once again, “I suppose I can help you.” Dazai mumbled, annoyed. Chuuya gave him a look of suspicion, “There’s gotta be a catch with that.” He said. Dazai smiled at him, “You know me so well Chuuya! I want you to wear this!” Dazai said as he grabbed his back to start digging through it. Chuuya raised one of his eyebrows; what could Dazai possibly want him to wear?
Dazai grabbed a rectangular box from his bag. He gave the box to Chuuya, “Go on! Open it!” Dazai said enthusiastically. Chuuya looked at Dazai and back at the box for a couple of minutes before he opened it. When Chuuya opened the box he was met with a collar, well, it’s supposed to be a choker but Chuuya knew the true intentions behind the gift. “What the hell, Dazai?! A fucking collar?! I’m not gonna wear this shit!” Chuuya said, taking the gift out of the box and shoving it in Dazai's face. Dazai laughed at Chuuya’s reaction, it was the exact way Dazai expected him to react. “C’mon Chuuya~! You know you really need help with that written exam! It’s either you wear this and I help you or you don’t and you fail it! We can’t risk the possibility of you not getting in UA, y’know! Mori wouldn’t be very happy!” Dazai said. Chuuya groaned, he knew Dazai was right.
Chuuya couldn’t risk failing the written test and the possibility of not getting into UA. He also definitely does not want to get Mori pissed off; it was the last thing on his to do list.
Finally, Chuuya gave in and put the ‘collar’ around his neck. “Now everyone will know that you have an owner!” Dazai said, way too happy with Chuuya putting on the choker. Chuuya just flipped Dazai off, “You better help me you fucking bastard.” Chuuya said, trying to sound threatening. Dazai just smiled at Chuuya, “Of course I will Chuuya.” Chuuya rolled his eyes as he looked back out the window.
Dazai decided he would put the files back for now and look at them later. For now, he wanted to get as much sleep as he could so he could stay up all night reading those files.
Chuuya looked out the window, the train speeding by fast, barely able to look at the places he was seeing. Chuuya then started to mess with the choker around his neck. Chuuya smiled a bit as he messed with it. Chuuya almost felt happy that Dazai had gotten him something. Although, he got rid of the idea of being happy that Dazai got him something almost immediately. Chuuya leaned his head against the window and started to drift off to sleep.
Four hours later, Dazai woke up to the train conductor speaking, “Passengers, we are around 5 minutes away from our destination. Please start collecting your stuff and get ready to leave the train.” Dazai groaned while he stretched. Dazai looked over to Chuuya who curled himself into a ball. Dazai laughed a bit before shaking Chuuya awake, “Go away…” Chuuya mumbled. “Wake up Chuuya! We’re basically there!” Dazai said, still trying to wake Chuuya up. Chuuya mumbled as he got up and stretched. “What time is it?” He asked as he rubbed his eye. “11:26!” Dazai responded, Chuuya tried to shake his head to get himself away but it just led him to feel dizzy. Dazai laughed, “You really are a dog, Slug!” Dazai laughed a bit. Chuuya glared at him, “Make up your mind, am I a dog or a slug?” Chuuya asked, grabbing his stuff. “Oh but they’re both so accurate! I can’t possibly make up my mind!” Dazai said.
As the two boys were arguing, they heard the speaker turn on, “Alright folks! We have arrived! Please get off the train accordingly and have a safe trip!” Dazai and Chuuya looked around to make sure they didn’t leave anything. When they confirmed they didn't, they got off the train.
The boys were in awe, Musutafu was nothing like Yokohama. It seemed so lively. Chuuya and Dazai looked around before Dazai’s eye landed on someone with very long arms, “Chuuya! Look at that quirk!” Dazai said, not trying to hide the fact that he was pointing at someone. Chuuya looked at where Dazai was pointing and bursted out laughing, “What kind of shit quirk is that!?” Chuuya asked rhetorically.
After they had stopped laughing at every quirk they could make fun of; they finally got themselves together and looked at the address Mori had sent Dazai. “I'm going to assume that’s going to be our apartment?” Chuuya said as looked away from the phone. “So where the hell is that place?” Chuuya asked, looking around again. “Isn’t there supposed to be a GPS on this thing or whatever it’s called?” Dazai said, messing around with the phone a bit. As Dazai was messing with the phone he had clicked something that gave him directions. “Oh! Here we go!” Dazai said as he started to follow the directions that were on the phone.
Chuuya had gotten tired of carrying the bags so he was just using his ability to carry his bags. Along with Dazai’s bag of course after Dazai convinced him too.
A little while later, the boys finally reached their apartment. It was on the fourth floor so it was a bit tiring to walk up the stairs but they got through it.
Dazai opened the door to the place they will be staying for who knows how long. Chuuya looked around and grimaced a bit, his apartment back in Yokohama was definitely better than the one he’s currently looking at. “This is gonna have to work.” Dazai said as he walked around the apartment. Chuuya turned off his ability and pushed the bags somewhere in the living room. Luckily for them, the apartment was fully furnished so they didn’t have to worry about buying furniture; just utensils and other things.
Chuuya ended up finding a room he was gonna sleep in, “I dibs this room!” Chuuya yelled out to Dazai who was in another room. When Chuuya got no response from Dazai, he started to search around. It wasn’t a long search though since Dazai was just in the room across from him. It turns out that Dazai had fallen asleep in the bed. Chuuya just stared at him for a bit, he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He was debating on if he should wake up Dazai or let him sleep. Chuuya decided to go with the former option and let him sleep. Only because he was tired! Not because he cared for Dazai or anything! Is what Chuuya told himself.
Chuuya went back to the room to what he called his own and got comfy.
He supposed a small nap wouldn’t hurt. It’s not like they needed to do anything the moment they got to Mustafa.
