Giggling drunkenly, you leaned into Zayne's shoulder as he helped you walk up the sidewalk into your apartment building. Keeping a steadying hand on the small of your back, Zayne didn't even bother looking down at you as he spoke. "Who let you drink this much?" The question was given as if he were asking you the weather, yet the slight narrowing of his eyes spoke clearly of his underlying concern.
"Hmmm? Who? Good question..." You hummed out, tilting your head and tapping your finger against your lip as you walked beside him. Narrowing your eyes as you looked up at him in thought, your eyes suddenly lit up as you gasped softly. "Ah~! I was with Taraaa...we kept doing those super yummy jell-o shots. You know them, right?" You chirped excitedly, softly hiccupping in the middle of your sentence as you gave Zayne a lopsided smile.
All he did beside you was sigh, giving an imperceptible shake of his head as he put his palm out towards you. Pouting at his hand, you put your hand on top of his before hearing him stifle a cough. Or maybe that was a chuckle. He moved his hand to gently hold onto your thumb, guiding it with his own to the fingerprint scanner at the entrance of the building.
"You could have just asssked~" You cooed drunkenly, giggling softly as he just silently raised a brow before shaking his head and turning away before you could see the small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. Dropping your hand gently, Zayne opened the door to your apartment complex for you before closing it behind you as well. You slurred out a soft 'thank you', and he just made an affirmative noise.
Walking down the hallway with you, Zayne finally glanced back at you. "And where is Tara now?" He questioned, a crease appearing between his brows as he watched your fingers deftly play with his tie as you walked. "Ehh~? Tara?" You repeated, humming as you tilted your head once more. "Ehhh..." You trailed off, looking blankly at the carpet before slowly stopping. "Huh....oh! Sheeee went with Miss Jenna~! But I told them someone was already getting mee~.." You giggled out, nudging his side even as Zayne tightened his jaw to suppress the amusement rising in his chest.
Without saying another word, Zayne hoisted you over his shoulder as you let out a surprised squeak, your cheek lightly thumping against the back of his shoulder. As you tried to protest, his smooth voice calmly interrupted your slurred one. “You stopped walking, and I have work to do.” Grumbling quietly in defeat against his shirt, you let your eyes close as Zayne’s movements were almost relaxing. Feeling yourself suddenly placed on your feet once more, you whined quietly, pressing your face into Zayne’s shoulder. He just let out another lighthearted sigh, one arm lightly around your waist as the other gently guided your hand to once more unlock your own apartment this time.
Humming quietly, you glanced back as you heard the affirming beep of the scanner before the door clicked open. Narrowing your eyes, you pouted up at Zayne and softly tugged on his tie. “Are you gonna leave me here all by myself?” You whined, glaring up at him despite your inebriated state. He let his head tilt, raising a brow down at you as his eyes flickered between your face and your hand holding onto his tie. Gently guiding your hand away from the fabric, he sighed once more before nodding his head towards your living room.
“Come on.” He muttered, and you giggled happily as you spun around and happily walked inside. You heard the door close behind you, and you set your purse down on the entryway table before walking towards your couch and falling back onto it with a little huff.
Zayne continued walking forward into your kitchen, and you sat up to peer over the back of your couch with your head resting against the back of it. “What’cha doin’?” You asked, blinking as he casually grabbed a glass and filled it with water. “Getting you water. It’ll help clear your head.” He replied smoothly, as if it wasn’t an issue that he knew exactly where to find everything in your house.
Well, it wasn’t like he hadn’t been here before.
You continued watching him over the back of the couch, a small smile growing on your face as you quietly admired him. The way you could see his muscles on his back flex and tighten with every movement through his black shirt..how his arms looked with those sleeves cuffed at the elbows..
“Are you done ogling me yet? Truly shameless.” Zayne softly tsked, a small smirk tugging at his lips as he turned and set the glass down on the counter. He leaned against the doorway from the kitchen to the living room, his hands resting on the supporting beam above his head.
Only further accentuating all those features you were admiring.
You felt your face heat up as you quickly turned around, burying your face in one of the pillows on your couch as you heard him quietly chuckle. “I-I wasn’t doing anything!!” You drawled out dramatically into the pillow, tightening your hold on the down pillow. After a few moments of silence, you slowly peeked over the edge of the pillow to see Zayne silently watching you with raised brows, as if waiting for a child to finish throwing their tantrum. He was now simply leaning against the bar, his arms crossed over his chest.
“Better?” He asked easily, that same small smirk so rarely seen on his lips still present. You nodded, brushing a hand back through your hair before standing, holding your arms out momentarily to steady yourself. You then walked towards him, narrowing your eyes as you stood in front of him now.
Reaching up, you lightly tugged on his tie, watching him let you pull him forward with a look of feigned shock even as he tilted his head. “Yes?” Zayne hummed, his eyes closely examining your face before lightly chuckling once more.
“You~...! You know exaaaaactly what you’re doing, Zaynie!” You huffed out, tightening your grip on his tie as he casually put a hand in his pocket. “Uh huh. And what was it that I was doing exactly?” He cooly asked, causing you to pout.
“You….you were..” You murmured, losing your train of thought as he leaned closer to your face, his head still tilted to the side. “Well?” Zayne repeated, that smirk on his lips growing more pronounced. Feeling your face heat up, you let go of his tie and leaned back, glaring at him. “...I don’t know! Ugh!” You groaned, biting your lip as you blinked before you leaned over and reached around him for the glass of water he had poured.
As you raised the glass of water towards your lips, Zayne looked down at you with a little chuckle. “That was for me.” He hummed, a twinge of dry amusement in his voice as you had already pressed the glass to your lips. You stubbornly glared up at him, taking a drink regardless.
“Well, it’s mine now~! It’s my water from my house and from my cup!” You protested, setting the glass down once more before leaning away from him. Yet as you leaned back, he captured your wrist in his hand and gently pulled you closer, his lips brushing against the pulsepoint of your wrist as he silently raised a brow. "So stubborn. Even when you're intoxicated." He whispered, quietly shaking his head before lowering your hand.
Your cheeks were darkly flushed, a little pout still on your lips. "See if I call you again when I'm drunk. You're so meannn~!" You whined, and he quietly gave a rare smile. "..I'm sure you will, sweetheart."
