Somehow, Batley had managed to ease his way between them. He took Watson’s arm and looked up at Holmes. “It’s true that we have ten years to fill in,” he said with a smile, then he winked. “But since you and Jacky here are such good friends, wouldn’t you like to know what he got up to in his army days?”
“Bats, old man, Holmes won’t want to—”
