Chapter Text
The weight of Sirius' family's name felt heavier than it ever had before. He had hoped that this would be a chance to forge his own identity, but now he found himself trapped in the same legacy he had wanted to escape.
Juliet, sitting beside him, could see the devastation in his eyes and leaned closer. "Sirius, the house doesn't define you," she whispered. "We can make our own choices, be who we want to be."
He looked at her, pain etching his features. "You don't understand, Juliet. I'm a Black. This is what's expected of me."
"So what ," she insisted, whispering fiercely. "Look at me, I'm a Potter and I used to be the heiress, now I'm a Slytherin like you and Evan"
Sirius nodded, though his heart felt heavy. Evan and another student were animatedly discussing their future plans and ambitions. Peter attempted to join the conversation, but everything felt overshadowed by Sirius's own turmoil.
As the feast began, he forced himself to eat, but he couldn't shake the feeling of hopelessness. He watched the other houses, particularly Gryffindor, where students laughed and cheered with a freedom he longed for. He caught sight of a few familiar faces and felt a pang of longing. Frank was getting comfortable with other students while he was stuck with the Slytherin and his family
Juliet nudged him, breaking through his thoughts. "We're together in this," she reassured him. "We'll make our mark on Slytherin. You'll see."
"And now, before we go to bed, let us sing the school song!" cried Dumbledore.
Dumbledore gave his wand a little flick, as if he was trying to get a fly off the end, and a long golden ribbon flew out of it, which rose high above the tables and twisted itself, snakelike, into words.
"Everyone pick their favorite tune," said Dumbledore, "and off we go!"
And the school bellowed:
"Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts,
Teach us something please,
Whether we be old and bald
Or young with scabby knees,
Our heads could do with filling
With some interesting stuff,
For now they're bare and full of air,
Dead flied and bits of fluff,
So teach us things worth knowing,
Bring back what we've forgot,
Just do your best, we'll do the rest,
And learn until our brains all rot."
The Gryffindor first years followed Molly Prewett and Arthur Weasley through the chattering crowds, out of the Great Hall, while the Slytherins followed Vulcan black and Adrienne Flint. up the marble staircase. Gryffindor climbed so many staircases, yawning and dragging their feet, and Frank was just wondering how much farther they had to go when they came to a sudden halt. The dormitories were reached by climbing the winding mahogany staircase, decorated with crimson and gold
"There are a hundred and forty-two staircases at Hogwarts: wide, sweeping ones; narrow, rickety ones; some that led somewhere different on a Friday; some with a vanishing step halfway up that students had to remember to jump. Some doors that won't open unless you asked politely, or tickled them in exactly the right place, and some doors that aren't really doors at all, but solid walls just pretending to be doors" instructed Arthur Weasley

The ten first-year Slytherin students walked through the entrance of their common room, the heavy wooden door sliding open with a soft creak. Evan led the way, followed by Juliet, then Sirius, and finally Peter brought up the rear, gazing around the room with a mixture of awe and trepidation. The warm, golden light of the candles within spilled out into the corridor, drawing the eye of the passersby, they were heading to the cold dark dungeons
As they stepped into the common room, the group was immediately struck by its The Slytherin common room was a long, low underground room with rough stone walls and ceiling, from which round, greenish lamps were hanging on chains. A fire was crackling under an elaborately carved mantelpiece ahead of them, and several Slytherins were silhouetted around it in carved chairs."
Sirius's eyes roamed over the room, his gaze lingering on the portraits of esteemed Slytherin alumni hanging on the walls. "I feel like I'm in my family's manor," he mused, his voice laced with a mix of unease and excitement.
Juliet, noticing his reaction, placed a reassuring hand on his arm. "Don't worry, Sirius. It's not all about the Blacks here."
Evan, meanwhile, was exploring the room with a sense of wonder. "This place is incredible. I had no idea it was so beautiful," he said, marveling at the intricate carvings decorating the walls.
The tension dissipated, and the four first-year Slytherins made their way to the table, where their classmates were gathered, chatting and laughing.
An older student with long blond hair , perched on the throne alike chair, watched the newcomers with a disinterested gaze. "Ah, the Blacks and the Rosiers. A lovely pair of bloodlines. Though I suppose your... enthusiasm is... intriguing, but I must confess ," he got up from his chair and bowed greeting to Juliet "miss potter, your surprise is the most beautiful. He took her hand in his and pressed a kiss on her knuckles
"Thank you, heir Yaxley," Juliet replied with a bright smile, and curtsied
Evan shook Yaxley'd hand firmly, a hint of a challenge lurking behind his pleasant facade. "We're looking forward to making our mark in Slytherin."
"As you might have heard Slytherin has royalty and I, am the king" he said with pride as he sat back on the throne and gestured for the blonde seventh year girl next to him "miss Clarissa Layla Avery, is the queen who is also the Slytherin head girl. Until last year miss Elara Nora Black was the queen while miss Avery was the princess. The Slytherin prince is heir Brandon Augustus Burke. The princess position is open. The select the princess starts on the second week who wishes to be on the royal may audition"

After what seemed like an hours the Gryffindor first years arrived inside Gryffindor Tower, they stood in front of a portrait of a fat woman who looked so elegant
"This is the fat woman portrait" said Molly "she will not let in without saying the password each time"
"Password?" the fat woman said in a motherly tone
"Wattlebird" said Arthur and the portrait moved to the side opening the gate like door
They walked inside and be welcomed by the roaring fire, stuffed armchairs, and the great view from the windows. The students found themselves a cozy, round Ioom, filled with squashy armchairs. "the top of a SPIRAL STAIRCASE, are two DOORS.
Girls' dormitory to the left. Boys to the right. You'll find your belongings have already been brought up. Any questions?" Said Molly
"When should we wake up? and how? because we have no alarm clocks?" Asked one of the girls
"Breakfast is from seven o'clock until eight, there is an alarm clock in every dorm room. Now you don't need to unpack everything tonight but forget. Before retiring, please place all
living potion ingredients in your cupboards. This includes slugs, fire beetles and cutworms. Sweet dreams."

The slytherin girls followed Clarissa to their side of the common room. She turned to them and spoke in high ironic and tongue-in-cheek with an obvious authoritative and superiority tone "well first years, this is our dorm" she said with a wave of hand "your queen and head girl is on the end where the NEWT students who are adults sleep away from you children. Have a good night"
Juliet looked and saw their names craved on the door
Al Carrow
Am Bones
K Shachelbolt
J Potter
D Umbridge
The dorm doors opened suddenly and some gasps were heard. The girls looked at each other sharing a look of confusion and startle. One of them looked around
"The older girls are going inside, we should too" said the red haired girl. The girls looked nervously not sure who to go first until Juliet took the first step inside and it was magnificent
Five four poster beds with green curtains. The walls were green and there were two main dressers with silver craving on the elegant wood. They slowly entered one by one and looked around with an owe
"Look" the small one said in an excited voice pointing "they got our trunks ready"
"They even placed each trunk in front of a bed" said the dark skinned one with Afro hair she then curtsied "I, miss Katarina Laura Shachelbolt, greet my roommates"
Juliet chuckled and curtsied back "I, miss Juliet Charlotte Potter, greet my roommates"
The red haired girl with freckles curtsied "I, miss Amelia Daisy Bones, greet my roommates"
The other red haired curtsied "I, miss Alecto Casttele Carrow, greet my roommates"
The last smallest girl curtsied "I, miss Dolores Sarah Umbridge, greet my roommates"
........
There was plenty of gold around the tower. The four-posters are covered with thick scarlet blankets and are embroidered with gold. Gold chandeliers cast warm glows all around.
"Wow" said the red head boy like a prayer
"It's amazing!" Said the dark skinned boy with long neck "look! There's a bookshelf"
"It has five shelves, probably for us. I, heir Franklin Harfang Longbottom, greet my roommates" he bowed
"I, mister Edmund Jack Thomas greet my roommates" the dark skinned replied and bowed
"I, mister Bilius Ron Weasley, greet my roommates" bowed the red haired boy
"I, mister Fabian Fredric Prewett greet my roommates" he bowed and giggled
"I, mister Gideon George Prewett greet my roommates" the twins burst into laughter
The other boys stared at them dumbfounded, they looked at each other trying to understand
"We're joking, I'm Fabian"
"And I'm Gideon"

At Firle Place , Hartfield, Surrey The green flames ignited the fireplace then turned down two witches stepped out of the chimney
"You smell what I smell?" Cassiopeia said excitedly
"Venison and vegetable soup with pasta" Dorea replied more excited
The house elf pupped out of nowhere and bowed to them "mistress lady potter and mistress lady Rosier. Welcome, should I inform my master?"
"No need to, Tilly" said Dorea "we will go to him"
They walked into their comfy childhood home.
"Where's mama?" Cassiopeia asked, glancing around for their mother, who was usually bustling about the house.
"She left for a family visit in New York ," their father's voice "suddenly decided to take the portky to there"
Dorea smiled and hugged him "papa"
He hugged her back "my little Dorea"
"What about me?" Grumbled Cassiopeia like a child earning a chuckle and hug from their father. After checking on their younger children who were asleep, they enjoyed their meals, the atmosphere was vibrant, filled with laughter and stories. Dorea felt a wave of nostalgia wash over her
Suddenly, a flash of light illuminated the room, and they all turned to see the familiar glow of the enchanted mirror hanging on the wall. The magic mirror had long been a family heirloom, capable of connecting them with other witches and wizards.
"Looks like something important is happening," Cassiopeia noted, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Dorea wiped her hands on a handkerchief and stood slowly, moving towards the mirror. "Let's see what it is!"
As she touched the surface of the mirror, the image rippled, revealing the enchanting outline of her excited husband , who was his messy hair glowing softly in the candlelight.
"Dorea!" His voice rang out cheerfully. "I have news! The owl have arrived!"
A collective gasp filled the dining room. Although they all knew the kids were starting their Hogwarts journey, hearing this news made it feel real.
Dorea felt her heart race. "Already? Have they arrived safely? Which houses were they sorted into?"
He nodded eagerly, his eyes glinting with excitement. "Yes!" He began reading out loud then came the part "and I was successfully sorted into..." he trailed off
"What is it?" Her voice became worried within a second
"is she alright?" Asked castor
"Slytherin?" Charlus read in disbelief
"Slytherin!?" The three of them echoed dumbfounded
After swallowing he continued "I was successfully sorted into Slytherin so was Evan and Sirius"
Cassiopeia jumped clapping "yes! I knew she would be a Slytherin! and my Evan is a Slytherin like us! it will be the best journey!"
"Oh congratulations girls" their father said warmly and hugged Cassiopeia who hugged him back then he processed to hug the still stunned Dorea

The alarm clock on the wall of Gryffindor First Year Girls' dormitory let out a loud, shrill ring, echoing through the room as the sun peeked through the windows. The girls, still groggy from their first night at Hogwarts, slowly came to life.
Alice, with her striking features and fiery spirit, was one of the first to stir, throwing off the covers and swinging her legs over the side of her bunk. "Ugh, what time is it?" she groggily asked, rubbing her eyes.
Prerose rubbed her eyes and removed a bit of her curtains to peek "it's five and half" she said in her sleepy voice
"Ugh, five thirty? Really?" Lily said with her hair in two messy braids
Mary, her long, curly hair a mess, stretched her arms and yawned, sitting up with a sheepish grin. "I think we've got a bit of a schedule to keep, don't we?" She nodded towards the large, ornate clock ticking away on the wall.
Slowly the alarm went off, the other girls were starting to stir, Remus' petite frame folding itself out of her bunk with a quiet murmur, while Prerose, ever the optimist, bounced out of bed with a radiant smile. "Good morning, everyone! Isn't it just the most exciting day ever?"
Mary, still rubbing the sleep from her eyes, yawned and sat up, her short, spiky hair sticking out in every direction. "Remind me, again, how do the schedules work here?" she asked Prerose
"It's a bell system," Prerose explained, swinging her legs off the bed. "The Great Hall's got a massive clock on one wall, and there are these huge bells that chime every hour. We have to be places for meals and classes, so keep an ear out for the bells and the professors' lessons will be announced. Every morning the bell rings three times at 5:30 , 6 o'clock, at 6:30 , seven o'clock and at 7:30"
Lily yawned and covered herself with the blanket "I'll take the next alarm"
"Me too" said Mary
"I'm not getting up" Alice said while Remus quietly went back to sleep
Prerose opened her trunk and pulled out her bathroom products, she stepped into the bathroom attached to the room, the sound of the shower echoing against the tiled walls. The warm water cascaded over her, washing away the remnants of sleep and the excitement of the previous day's events. She lost herself for a few moments in the soothing warmth and the steam rising around her, her mind drifting through thoughts of the new friends she was making, the castle's wonders, and what the day held in store for them.
After her shower, she turned off the water and stepped out, wrapping herself in a soft, plush towel. She took a moment to gather her thoughts in front of the mirror, steam fogging the glass. After giving her hair a quick towel dry, she proceeded to the sink to brush her teeth. The strawberry flavor invigorated her, and she felt the excitement bubbling inside her as she thought about the day ahead.
Once she had finished, she opened her trunk again and sifted through the contents until she found her carefully folded lace and cotton undergarments a trimmed chemise with matching pair of bloomers. She took her uniform and walked behind the red and gold room divider
She slipped into the delicate garments, feeling their soft fabric against her skin. She tied up her short stays, the same way her mother taught her, then put on the bloomers before adding another shift. Next came the standard Gryffindor uniform, which she pulled on with care. The crisp white blouse was tucked neatly into a pleated burgundy skirt, the fabric swaying gently as she moved. Lastly, she donned her black robe emblazoned with the Gryffindor crest—a lion roaring proudly—over her uniform. She glanced at herself in the mirror, feeling a sense of satisfaction in her reflection with her hair in soft twirls and a golden ribbon on top
She paused in front of a frame on the wall and read it
Points frame for first year Gryffindor girls
A.F R.L L.E P.P M.M
Her eyes widened "girls!" She called "girls look!"
They groan trying to get her to stop but she wouldn't "ugh, what now?" Said Mary
"Look at this!" She pointed eagerly
"What is it?" Asked Lily yawning
"It's our points frame "
"What?"
"It's a points frame, it's it's a frame made for points and our points will appear as stars here individually, the big frame is in the great hall that takes the whole house's points" she explained using her body language and gestures to make it clearer to the girls who are now fully awake and walking to the wall

Sirius was in half sleep when he felt something hitting his head with pressure. He gasped for air, then the pressure was lifted only to be slapping him again "what the.!" He muttered
"Wake up! Wake,up, you, idiot!" Evan said slapping Sirius with a pillow
Sirius jumped awake and pushed Evan off "what in Merlin's name this!"
"Oh finally" Evan sneered sarcastically"good morning"
Sirius rubbing his face tiredly "ugh what time is it?"
"It's 6:10"
"6:10?" His eyes widened "Are you serious right now?"
"How can I be serious if you're Sirius" he smirked
Sirius rolled his eyes then laid again only to be grabbed by the arm "come on" Evan said
"What!" Sirius snapped "what do you want!"
"The hell is going on!" Snapped groggy Amycus
"Nothing of your concern, Carrow"
"Then you better lower your voices!" he buried his head under the pillow
Sirius grumbled, rolling over and burying his face in his pillow. "Ugh, do we have to?" he mumbled, his voice muffled. "Can't we just sleep in? It's not like I've been waiting for this my whole life. What a wonderful thing to be stuck in the same dorm with all my cousins" he said sarcastically
"Stop complaining!", Evan shaking his head. "Come on! We're Slytherins now! It's time to show what we're made of. Plus, you've got to at least try the pumpkin pastries. They're legendary!"
Sirius sighed heavily, lifting his head only slightly to glare at Evan. "Legendary or not, I've never been a morning person, and the idea of sitting in a hall full of people judging me... it's not my idea of a great time."
Evan crossed his arms, trying not to smile at Sirius' dramatic demeanor. "Judging you? It's just breakfast! Everyone is probably just as nervous as we are. Besides, we're supposed to look out for each other, remember? You'd be doing the same for me."
With a reluctant groan, Sirius finally sat up, running a hand through his disheveled hair. "Fine, fine. Just give me five minutes," he muttered, swinging his legs over the side of the bed. He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees as he tried to gather his thoughts.
Evan knew this was progress. "I'll go get washed up, then," he said, grinning as he moved toward the bathroom. "I'll see you downstairs in a few!"
After a quick wash and a splash of cold water to wake himself up, Evan returned to find Sirius still sitting on his bed, now half-heartedly pulling on his emerald green robes, his expression a mixture of annoyance and resignation.
"Look, I promise it won't be that bad," Evan encouraged while adjusting his own robes. "Once we get in with the other first-years and start meeting people, you might actually have some fun. Besides we can still have friends from other houses"
Sirius rolled his eyes but couldn't suppress a small smirk. "You really believe that, huh?"
"I do!" Evan replied, his enthusiasm shining through. "We're Slytherins! We're a family, and soon you'll see—there's power in that."
After a moment, Sirius shrugged and stood up, his posture shifting ever so slightly toward determination. "Alright then. Let's get this over with," he said, allowing a hint of a smile to creep onto his face. "Lead the way."
As they made their way out of the dormitory, the anticipation in the air seemed palpable. Convincing himself that today would hold new possibilities, Sirius took a deep breath, ready to embrace his first day at Hogwarts, even if it meant struggling through the morning light
