smoke

Summary:

Sirius has a headache.

Written for @padfootmicrofics, smoke, prompt.

Work Text:

Sirius felt terrible, to say the least. Almost every other day, if not every, he was waking up with bad headaches. A few of the days he’s had to stay in bed and tried to sleep it off. He was lucky when something worked and relieved him of his pain. Today was one of those days where nothing seemed to work. Not the pain relief he took nor did sleeping again for a few hours.

He was in the living room laying on the couch with a blanket pulled pretty much over his entire head. Remus had gone out and bought him a candle that was supposed to help relieve headaches. Mainly as a last ditch effort. Sirius was desperate to try anything at this point.

On the coffee table sat the candle. It was small and smelled like lavender. The scent wasn’t too strong, thankfully. Smells for some reason would make him gag when his head was pounding. He wasn’t sure why, but was sure of one thing. He wanted this headache to go away. Remus was out for the day, so it was  just him. The house was at least quiet.

Sirius must have fallen asleep at some point, again, for the second that day. He had been listening to the sound of the rain falling, and drifted off. He had only woken up when Remus loudly said his name, startling him and pulling him from his sleep. Sirius’s eyes shot open, with how loud Remus’s voice was and how much it scared him, he could have sworn the house was on fire or something. But there was no smoke.

“Sorry,” Remus said and walked and crouched in front of Sirius. Sirius tiredly looked at him, hardly able to keep his eyes open. “I tried tapping you, but you didn’t wake up.”

Sirius nodded and pushed his hair out of his face. He noticed then that behind Remus, the small trail of smoke leaving the recently blown out candle. Oh, he fell asleep with it still lit. “I fell asleep with it lit?” He mumbled and leaned forward onto Remus.

Remus helped him sit back on the couch and sat beside him. Sirius leaned into Remus and Remus wrapped his arm around the other. “Yeah, you did again.” Remus chuckled and Sirius mumbled sorry, and was asleep once again.
