Work Text:
“If I were turned into a worm, would you still love me, Viktor?”
The Czech man looked up from his book, brain short circuiting at the frankly ridiculous question. He blinked twice at his partner who was lounging on his stomach on the bed beside him. It was obvious Jayce was exhausted. Countless council meetings, parties, working in the lab, even more meetings. It seemed like the poor Piltovan just couldn’t catch a break.
“What kind of a question is that?” Viktor asked after a brief pause.
“A question I want you to answer honestly.” Jayce mumbled as he moved to set his head on Viktor’s stomach. His left arm cradled the underside of the other’s legs as he smushed his face against the bare skin, warmed by the blanket that had been covering him.
Sighing softly, Viktor carded his fingers through his lover’s hair. He looked back down at his book and then closed it, setting it on the nightstand.
“Why were you turned into a worm in the first place? I need to know who is at fault.” He replied, fingernails lightly scratching at the other’s scalp.
Jayce shrugged. “Maybe there’s a rune out there that turns people into worms.”
A snort of a laugh left Viktor. “Maybe.”
Pulling his face up from Viktor’s stomach, Jayce looked up at the other man with those large, hazel, puppy dog eyes. He looked so utterly tired and somehow heartbroken that his question hadn’t been answered yet.
“Alright, alright…” Viktor sighed, cupping his lover’s face. “If you were turned into a worm, no matter whose fault it was, you would be the most spoiled worm in all of Runeterra.” He gave Jayce’s cheek a gentle pat as he spoke. “And yes, Jayce, I would still love you. Very much.”
The Piltovan hummed and nuzzled into Viktor’s hand, savoring the touch like he’d never get it again. Slowly, Jayce moved up so his ear rested right above Viktor’s heart, listening to the steady thump of it. His eyes slid shut as he felt the same hand move through his hair once more.
“I’d love you if you turned into a worm too…” Jayce mumbled sleepily. “I’d-” he yawned and draped an arm over his lover’s stomach. “I’d make you a tiny Hex Claw so you could keep working in the lab. And I’d brush your tiny worm hair…”
“Worms have hair now?”
“Mmhmm… you would.”
“I think it’s time for you to sleep, Jayce.” Viktor chuckled fondly.
All he got in response was a hum before gentle snoring filled the room. Jayce could always fall asleep at the drop of a hat. It was fascinating. Reaching over without disturbing Jayce, Viktor turned the lamp off and carefully shimmied down so he was flat on the bed with Jayce’s head on his chest.
He closed his eyes and dreamt of a world where the two of them were worms. It was a strange dream, but who knows.
Maybe there was a timeline out there where it was a reality.
