Chapter Text

Kim Dokja was excited to say the least. Yoo Joonghyuk offered to let him stay over his house for the first time. He couldn't stop smiling as he changed into his pyjamas. It was such a mundane thing but he couldn't wait to be cuddled by Yoo Joonghyuk for an entire night and his face being the first thing he sees when he wakes up-

Those thoughts were immediately cut short when the lights went out.

"Aren't you going to join me?" Yoo Joonghyuk asked tiredly, patting the empty space on the bed. Kim Dokja nodded anxiously and laid next to him.

It was pitch black, he couldn't even see what was in front of him. So when Yoo Joonghyuk's arms suddenly wrapped around him, he yelped.

"...Are you okay? Do you not like it-"

He snuggled close to him before he could withdraw his arms. "I-I'm fine!"

"You're a terrible liar."

"...Don't laugh." He asked quietly.

"I'll try." Yoo Joonghyuk teased, not knowing where this was going. Kim Dokja struggled to hold back a smile at that.

"Can you ummm turn on the lamp?"

He did as told, filling a portion of the room with a warm, gentle light. Kim Dokja relaxed in his arms. Yoo Joonghyuk waited, assuming he only wanted the light on to discuss something with him and turn it off when they were done, until he realised that was the end of the discussion.

"You're scared of the dark?" Yoo Joonghyuk realised.

"No."

"Dokja."

"...Maybe."

"Why?"

"What? I don't know... why is that your only comment..."

"Did you never get over the fear as a kid?"

"I'm not scared of the dark I just don't like it-"

He held him close to his chest to stop his bickering. Kim Dokja gave out muffled complaints but relaxed very quickly.

"I'll keep the lamp on."

Kim Dokja tightened his grip on his arms. "Ok."

"Every time you stay over."

He blushed. That meant this'll happen again. "O-ok."

He went quiet and Yoo Joonghyuk was sure he fell asleep until he added,

"Thank you. I love you."

"I love you too."

The next morning Kim Dokja woke up and smiled to see Yoo Joonghyuk's face as expected. He trailed his hand across his features until his eyes fluttered open.

Before Kim Dokja could say good morning he was cut off.

"I turned off the lamp."

Kim Dokja blinked confused. "Huh?"

"After you fell asleep I turned off the lamp. It was too bright."

He chuckled. "Did you hold that thought for the entire night?" He kissed his cheek. "You don't have to keep it on if it bothers you-"

"I do. And you fell asleep fast anyway."

"I usually don't..."

Yoo Joonghyuk stared at him until he elaborated.

"I guess it's easier when I'm with you..."

"Then you should stay over more often."

Kim Dokja blushed.

"It's like you want me to move in or something." He teased to shift the embarrassment but that quickly backfired on him.

"Maybe I do-"

And before Yoo Joonghyuk could discuss it further, Kim Dokja suddenly fell off the bed.

"I-I need to get ready for work-!"

"It's still early." He said, grabbing his arm.

"I need to get home-"

"Why? I'll drive you to work."

Kim Dokja blushed. "Really?"

"Get back here." He pulled him back in the bed, tightly holding onto him so he wouldn't leave.

"So we'll eat breakfast together and you'll drive me off to work and kiss me goodbye?"

"I'll do all of that and pick you up from work for dinner."

He blushed. The plans were extremely domestic, like if they were to live together-

He shook his head, trying to get rid of the thoughts.

"I'd have to invest in some candles and flashlights then." Yoo Joonghyuk said suddenly.

He looked up confused. "What?"

"The power goes out here a lot."

Kim Dokja blushed, realising he said his thoughts of living together out loud.

"Go to sleep." He grumbled, burying his face in his chest.

"Do you need the lamp on?" Yoo Joonghyuk teased, as the sun had already peaked through the curtains.

"S-shut up!" He groaned but cuddled him tighter.
