I really thought they were baiting with all this intense emotion between the two leads, but no! This is the gay show of my dreams. 😭 Thank you so much, Jasper and Brandon, for portraying them so beautifully. The subtle looks and little, intimate touches throughout the episodes squeezed my heart and I'm so ready to rewatch those moments endlessly, knowing they lead to this tender kiss. Ahhh! I'm so here for this.

In all seriousness, though, I initially thought it was so cool to see Jasper Abernathy, an out and proud actor (who is SO FUNNY!) cast as a gay man where his sexuality wasn't a big part of his character at all. With that said, I love this twist! I think it's also really important to tell complicated character arcs and messy relationships and have those messy relationships be between two men. I know this is far from a traditional love story, but dammit, I am rooting for these two so hard! I hope they can find honesty through this new aspect of their connection.

As a Will/Margaux shipper I will admit I am deeply disappointed. His chemistry with Johan always seemed more platonic to me.

The kiss was perfect. So much emotion, hesitation and desire at the same time. I'm a straight dude in my 30s and yet I was touched by it. This is one of the best written shows I've watched in ages, and this twist has promise for one of the most uncompromisingly visceral love stories ever told. I can't wait for season two!

Brandon has always sounded like such a great ally for the gay community in interviews, I’m thrilled he’s finally playing a gay/bi role. His intensity during that kiss, the emotional fragility of Will in that moment... my h e a r t!

I think the people who are upset by the kiss are missing some crucial subtext here. Johan is Will’s salvation, but it’s not as simple as them loving each other. This is all a ploy by Will to make Johan believe that he’s a good man, despite his various sins that only Johan knows about. Dating Margaux would mean she would get too close to the truth about him. By dating/sleeping with Johan, he throws Johan off the scent of his true nature. I think this is a fascinating continuation to the theme of corruption that’s been running throughout the show so far. Will may have feelings for Johan, but why does he act on them now? Is he just trying to make Johan focus on something other than his previously immoral actions?

I love this toxic mess of a pairing. May they fuck about it next season. We know this network loves sex scenes for het couples… So why not Will and Johan, too? I know Jasper Abernathy is not opposed to it, he's said so in previous interviews. Hopefully he gets Brandon on board with it, too.

This is such an interesting twist! I hope they don’t just make it a boring happily ever after. I need these two to be together, but still clash and play mind games against one another, especially Will. He’s the most complicated TV character I’ve seen in years. I’m obsessed with him and how well Brandon Masters is portraying this moral complexity. Ugh! Jasper is good, too, as is Jane Pandy as Margaux, I hope we see more of her next season.

I knew this was coming! Felicity Zink shows tend to have some LGBTQ+ representation, apart from her first detective show in the UK. I’ve always loved her for that, so I was waiting to see if this one had something, and I initially suspected Margaux might be a lesbian and start dating Greta the diner waitress, and maybe it would be this delicious age gap lesbian affair. But alas! Margaux seems to be straight.

Jasper’s acting from the jump has had hints and clues that Johan cares more about Will than Will does about him. But then, Will made that comment about Johan’s ass in episode three, like what??? Looking back that was an obvious clue that there was desire there...

Okay, hear me out guys. I'm not against this pairing, but I'm just wondering. Is Will really gay, or is he gay only for Johan? Think about it! They've been friends for so long, Johan has been out for a while. Maybe Will hasn't had a lot of feelings about guys in general, so he thought he was definitely straight, and went on to date women, until all this crap started happening and he returned to Johan, and their new working relationship allowed them to bond and now Will understands he's at least somewhat not-straight, but maybe it's more about his connection and feelings for Johan. This is the way I see it, especially when considering how Johan was not the one to initiate any of this. I disagree with those who say he's had feelings for Will all along. I think it's the opposite! Will has had these feelings, but hasn't known what to do with them until now push came to shove. Gosh I love them!

You guys have it all wrong. Will is manipulating Johan by kissing him!! How can you not see that?

Cool, they're kissing. But we didn't find out who the serial killer is! I need S2 in my grubby little hands now right this minute. Was it the janitor? But he had an alibi for the swamp murder?? What is going on? The waitress?? Will's brother after all? But I thought he died. Who the fuck is it?
