Chapter 1: The accident

Chapter Text

It was a normal day in Cavalry with cavalry members training. The second recruitment of members had just started in the capital. There were a lot of new powers unbeknownst to the normal awakeners which led to today’s predicament of Yuder directly intertwining in their training. Yuder had specifically asked Kanna and Gakane to oversee the normal training of awakeners to solely focus on the new recruits.

The new recruits hearing that the infamous hero of the west- Yuder Ail was going to teach them nearly lost their newly found composure and even more so when they saw him approach them. Everyone took in the sight of a young man with black hair with deep violet eyes which appeared to be black in absence of sunlight. His eyes seemingly carved from Amethyst, irresistibly sucking the observer into a deep abyss. The man’s face was pale as if carved from marble suiting his overall complexion giving him an ethereal glow. The said man scrutinized each one of them with an inscrutable expression.

“My name is Yuder Ail and I am assistant to the Commander of the cavalry.” The man gave a formal introduction.

“You all have passed the second cavalry recruitment and today starts the first day of training” he added after a little pause.

Just as Yuder was about to list further instructions for the training schedule a few figures could be seen from the other side of the training field running towards them. Everyone stared silently as the figures of 5 guys approached them drenched in sweat clearly from running.

They put their hands on their knees, huffing from overexertion. It was a sunny day so when a shadow landed on them, the men, confused from the sudden shed, looked up only to come face to face with Yuder looking down on them with an unreadable gaze.

‘Wait-’ Horror dawned on those men's faces as they observed the man in front of them clearly realizing who it was. ‘They didn’t say anything about The Yuder Ail himself teaching us!’. Watching Yuder’s expectant gaze, all five of them dropped into a 90 degrees bow with hands to their chest.

“We apologise for being late. W-We will be more mindful of time from now on!”
“Forgive us for being late to the training!”
“F-Fo-Forigve us!”

They all shouted their apologies together, refusing to meet Yuder’s gaze. Sighing at the clumsiness of the new recruits, which was to be expected, Yuder lightly reprimanded those men and went back to explaining the training hours and new divisions to be sorted in.

“At last, those who are late for the class will have to do additional training of 2 hours starting today. If someone misses training or doesn’t finish the training on time, they will be punished accordingly” Yuder concluded with an expressionless face.

Watching the dumbfounded expressions of the new recruits, Yuder remembered that he had forgotten to ask if anyone had any questions.

“If anyone has any further questions, you can ask now”

“...”

Yuder knew his initial impression could come off as cold and aloof, scaring the observers but he didn’t know how to skillfully manipulate the audience into familiarity like Kishiar and Kanna. Just as he was wondering how to handle this situation, a young woman in her 20s raised her hand timidly.

“Go ahead”

“Um, What’s the punishment you speak of if someone misses or doesn’t finish their training on time?”

“It’s usually extra training hours, increase in training level and cleaning duties. It can also be adjusted by me according to the situation” Yuder said as a matter of fact. The girl turned pale hearing the statement spoken so curtly.

“Well, well looks like everyone is having fun” A deep crisp voice rang out in the training field.

Everyone turned towards the source of sound and came face to face with a person who had blond hair which shone as if they were kissed by the sun. He had red eyes which appeared as rubies amidst the rays of sun. Calling him handsome would be an understatement, everyone felt that a new word should be found to compliment the outwardly beauty standing in front of them. Even if they didn’t know who he was, everyone could feel it from the atmosphere that he was a respected person of high caliber. If that wasn’t obvious enough, everyone knew the famous traits of imperial members, blond hair and red eyes.

The man, their new commander, Kishiar La Orr, stood unfazed by the reactions of the new recruits seemingly accustomed to the effects of his charms and merely flashed a smile towards them with a knowing look.

Seeing their commander smile belatedly made them realize that they were just gaping and ogling at their new commander. Embarrassed, everyone averted their gaze and bowed to their commander, to which he only gave a dismissive wave as if mocking the act of watching people bow.

“So it seems like my dear beloved assistant has already introduced himself, would he mind doing the same for me?” the commander casually asked, leaning towards Yuder Ail who had an impassive gaze towards the commander.

Without answering the question Yuder Ail turned towards them and spoke clearly “He is the commander of the Cavalry, Kishiar La Orr. He is a part of the Shin division”.

“...”

‘That’s it? Is saying that much enough?’ Everyone was confused by the short and blunt introduction. They thought Yuder would get reprimanded by the commander but he merely laughed delightfully.

“As always, our assistant doesn’t waste any time” maybe their eyes were playing tricks on them, but the commander appeared to be smiling brighter than before, dazzling their eyes.

“Well as my dear assistant said, I am the commander of the Cavalry whose only strength is good looks.”

“You know he doesn’t easily admit anything but he unhesitantly said that, isn’t it cute?” the commander cheerfully added.

“Well, since you have gotten a wonderful opportunity to learn from my very capable and talented assistant, make sure to make full use of it” the commander continued shamelessly leaning over Yuder who just stood motionlessly.

‘Did he just call the assistant…cute? Did we hear right?’ Looking around the field no one from the first batch paid the pair of commander and assistant any mind and continued their training.

“Duke” A voice rang from behind the pair and they all turned to look at the newcomer. He was a tall man with reddish skin and blue eyes reminding everyone of deep ocean water. He had short hair and wore armour. Sensing everyone’s curiosity towards the newcomer, their commander flashed a smile and gestured towards the man with navy hair.

“Ah, you all haven’t met him, right? This is my faithful adjutant, Nathan Zukerman” the said man only gave a curt bow towards them.

‘Looks like the commander has a type’ everyone thought, eyeing both the adjutant and assistant who stood expressionless like walls on both sides of the commander who beamed brightly in the middle as a blooming flower.

Nathan Zukerman whispered something in the commander's ear, which caused a regretful smile across the commander’s face. Turning towards them the commander continued in the voice containing mock pity, “Alas, it seems I have somewhere to be and can’t oversee the wonderful training orchestrated by my assistant.”

The said assistant stood emotionlessly without any signs of playing along the pitiful charade of the commander. If one paid attention, they could see his darkened eyes drooping slightly.

Watching Yuder dejected, Kishiar couldn’t help but smile and whisper something only his assistant could hear. It seemed like it worked when he saw faint blush appear on Yuder’s cheek and his eyes darken in determination. Yuder could be so adorable sometimes that Kishiar couldn’t help but regret not being able to shower Yuder with affection due to the prying eyes of others. But he made sure to transmit his longing and affection through their shared connection which was rewarded by similar feelings and Yuder’s slight curve of lips.

After the commander left, Yuder turned towards them all, a cold smile flashing on his face.

“AHHH” someone shouted as they were blown across the field.

“YOU BASTARD, I TOLD YOU TO WAIT” A voice rang around the field as they went in for another attack.

“You all should attack together” a girl sitting on the ground with dust marring her face spoke.

“STOP USING SWORDS, YOU KNOW HE CAN CONTROL IT” another voice rang from the person laying faceplanted on the ground.

In other words, it was total chaos on the training field. In the centre of it a person stood alone, none other than Yuder Ail, who was dodging all the combined attacks of the cavalry members.

Initially, they all were doubtful of this, as Yuder Ail was their senior and also around their age, no matter the feats he accomplished but their worries were soon rendered meaningless as Yuder showed his power and wiped the floor clean with each person. They couldn’t believe that such a power could exist, and more so that someone of their age could wield it so effortlessly as if they were his limbs.

After many rounds of attacking and dodging, Yuder finally stopped the relentless one-sided battle.

“Don’t forget what you did today. When you train further, strive to beat your current self. Now let's move on to personal training to increase one's capacity to hold the awakener's power.”

Yuder wasn’t the one to give praise, but when he gave the consolidation of not winning, everyone felt determined to prove their worth to him. It was maybe how he held himself, which made everyone flock towards him wanting to gain his approval. Determined, everyone pushed forward and went all out in training their respective powers.

“Umm, Sir Baron Ail?” a young child in his teens addressed Yuder who was standing on the sidelines overseeing the training. He flinched slightly when Yuder looked at him but he still tried to meet Yuder’s gaze unwaveringly.

“Just Yuder is fine” Yuder muttered, to which the other widened his eyes.

“Ah no, I wouldn’t dare”

“It’s fine, I don’t mind”

“I see, then Sir Yuder?” the young child exclaimed with much more vigour now before he realised something.

“Ah, I apologise, I forgot to introduce myself” the child said bowing a little “My name is Aeron and I have a mental power to create illusions”

‘Illusions? Then could it be a power like Nahan? If that’s true then we could prepare every member against mental attacks’ Yuder mussed inwardly.

“I see, what are the specifics required to activate your power and are there any repercussions after the use?”

“Well, I can create illusions from memories of the person my power is being used on but the illusions are based on the deepest regrets and desires of the person. The thing is that illusion can last as long as the person wants”

‘As expected the power is similar to Nahan’s, I remember individuals with similar powers emerging due to similar desires or circumstances. Although it wasn’t as common and variations existed.’

“As long as the person wants?” Yuder asked incredulously.

“Uh well, the thing is, no one including me can see the illusion and it doesn’t disappear by normal means like hurting yourself. It festers your brain till you accept what it wants or break free from it not shallowly but from your whole heart.”

“What if one fails to break free or accept what the illusion wants?”

“Going insane, in all the cases the recipient has refused to break the illusion have gravely injured themself” Aeron answered, clearly uncomfortable.

“Though, I have tried to control my power so it hasn’t happened that much” He added hastily.

“Have you only used your powers on awakeners?”

“Uh yes” Aeron murmured quietly, watching Yuder deep in contemplation.

“Well… I think a person can also control the illusion if they want to, although it hasn’t happened till now. That’s what I wanted help with, I, I want my illusions to affect a person not cause deaths or make someone go insane.”

“So, you want to reduce the effect your illusion has on a person, which depends on your precise control?” Yuder asked, looking somewhat enthusiastic, although he appeared impassive, someone with a discernible eye could tell the difference.

After considering for a moment, Yuder stepped forward from his place and called out to Aeron. “Let’s do it right now”

“W-What? Don't you think we need some preparations…?” Aeron asked incredulously

“No, it’s better this way, so we can gauge your power potential.” Yuder answered bluntly, then added after a moment. “Rest assured, if something happens I will take responsibility”

As they were retreating in a less crowded spot of training grounds, a voice called out to them, not them but Yuder specifically.

“Yuder!” Turning around, a woman with short brown hair was waving frantically towards them and had a cheerful expression which made her look young and friendly compared to others he had met before. Next to her was a tall guy with red hair and green eyes which reminded Aeron of a rose. Both of them looked well acquainted with Yuder judging by the way Yuder slightly relaxed his posture.

“We just finished training for others and took a break. We were thinking about whether you wanted us to grab something for you from the dining hall? Were you doing something?” Kanna asked with curiosity seeing Yuder going to the secluded area of the training grounds used only for training dangerous abilities.

“Woah, we have another illusionist!” Gakane exclaimed with wonder and Kanna wasn’t any different. Considering Aeron, he would probably be best suited in the Jung division whose deputy commander was Kanna. Therefore it was an opportune moment that they had met right now. Yuder was just about to ask them if they wanted to join when Aerone opened his mouth.

“Greetings Seniors! It's a pleasure to meet you” Aeron did a formal 90 degrees bow.

‘Why is everyone so loud and stiff, I can understand the cavalry members but even the newcomers..’ Yuder mused inwardly.

“Nice to meet you, My name is Gakane”

“I am Kanna, deputy commander of Jung division”

They both pleasantly introduced themselves and started engaging in talk with Aeron. ‘As expected Kanna always makes people feel comfortable and Gakane’s way of explaining things makes it easier to understand difficult information.’ After exchanging greetings they all moved to stand in a circle with Aeron in the middle as per Yuder’s instructions.

Yuder formed a wind barrier to protect from any unseen incidents occurring.

“Gakane, make a shadow clone. After that we will see if your power is transmitted upon contact with another power or if it specifically requires physical contact” Yuder explained it to Aeron, who widened his eyes and asked cautiously.

“Shouldn’t we work on power control first before using my power..?”

“No, knowing how your power activates and affects is more important than control, so I would like you to use your power without any restraints”

“I shall try my best” Aeron said after gulping from concentration.

Once Aeron took his position Gakane’s shadow clone moved forward, closing the distance between Aeron.

“Yuder, why did you ask him to try his power on a shadow clone first?” Kanna standing next to Yuder inquired. ‘She is sharp, since mental powers are not visible to the naked eye, one wouldn’t need to fear the repercussions of collision between powers but..’

“His power is abit different from normal mental powers” Yuder replied and then turned to look at Aeron and shadow clone.

Closing his eyes Aeron extended his right hand forward. Soon, concentrated power begin to move in the form of threads from his fingertips.

“Can you see anything Kanna?”

“No, it just appears ordinary hand gesture to me”

“I see. I can see threads containing power flowing from him to the clone” Yuder added to explain the situation. ‘It’s probably due to the eye of magic. Even so, seeing a mental power move in a physical form.’ It would have been surreal for anyone else, since it was Yuder who had witnessed the most in the Awakeners, he wasn’t too surprised.

‘His power can affect a person freely, without the need to control, which means it could be considered to have a physical form.’

As soon as the threads wrapped around the clone, it slightly dulled in colour before rapidly increasing in thickness and light. The shadow clone seemed to be bound by an invisible force, flagging around helplessly.

“Gakane Are You Okay?” Yuder asked, taking a protective stance.

“Ugh.. yes, I am fine. It doesn’t hurt but it feels like something is pressing against me” Gakane explained.

After a few minutes the clone stilled and dropped to the floor after being destroyed. Both Kanna and Gakane looked surprised, even Yuder had a rare look of surprise on his face.

“I am so sorry! Are you okay?” Aeron frantically waved his hands in apology from where he stood.

“Ah, it’s fine don’t worry” Gakane rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. Meanwhile, Yuder moved forward to consider the state of the ruined clone.

“Kanna, can you read Gakane and see if any power affected him.”

“Sure” Kanna replied as she moved towards Gakane. She touched his shoulder looking for any signs of confusion or memory loss. The air around her shifted and her eyes had a bright glow. Aeron was surprised seeing Kanna’s power first-hand and had an impressed look in his eyes. After reading for a while she concluded that the mental power hadn’t extended from clone to Gakane.

“Let’s move forward”

“Huh?” Aeron asked dumbly.

“Since we know your power doesn’t have any effects on the awakener power itself, let's gauge the conditions required by you to summon your power” saying that Yuder summoned a sword from thin air and swung it around. After seemingly being satisfied with it, he took the mandatory stance for swordsmanship.

“Now, I will attack you using this sword, try to activate your power while dodging my attack”

“W-what, but I have never…” Aeron muttered terrified. Kanna came closer and patted his back trying to ease the tension, while expertly encouraging the new recruit. She exchanged glances with Yuder and nodded.

‘If it were me I wouldn’t even address such a concern, but considering the age and time of recruitment, one would need encouragement to bring out their full potential.’

Glancing above the blue sky, Yuder thought of Kishiar La Orr who promised a date tonight. Despite being busy with imperial affairs and his majesty’s health, Kishiar had suggested it. Yuder was about to protest but a knowing look from Kishiar stopped him. ‘Of course he knows it’s a busy time but despite that he made plans, that means he probably thought it was necessary for both of us to take break’ knowing Yuder he would never agree to such a request, therefore using date as an excuse.

.

..

….

“Commander!” a voice rang out in the cavalry hallway as hurried steps of a person could be heard. She had heard the commander was out all day, therefore the chances of him being there were slim. She had already checked everywhere, even though she knew no one was there, she had taken it upon herself to report to the commander as soon as she saw him. As she was running around, she saw 2 tall figures walking towards the commander’s office.

The two figures sensing her presence turned around, as if sensing something amiss in her gaze, the commander inquired worryingly with his smile withdrawn.

“Did something happen while I was away?”

“Commander, Deputy commander Kanna Wand, Gakane, and assistant Yuder Ail have been struck unconscious due to an awakener’s power” the girl said bowing politely and explaining.

At the unbelievable claim of three of the strongest awakeners being struck unconscious, the commander widened his eyes briefly with a frown marring his brows. Unbeknownst to her, the adjutant standing behind, rarely fazed by anything, also had a similar look in his eyes.

“Explain everything to me in detail” The commander inquired, his voice dropping ever so slightly.

“I am not sure how it happened, but as far as I know, they were personally teaching a new recruit who had mental powers which went astray during the lessons and knocked them unconscious"

“I see, if that’s all you may return back. Good job” Kishiar said, smiling gently with a smile not reaching his eyes.

“Nathan, finish the matter of today’s affairs” Kishiar said, turning his back to the adjutant.

“Yes, Your grace”

No sooner had the confirmation been received, Kishiar had already moved forward without looking back, leaving the equally concerned adjutant standing behind. Even though Kishiar was a swordsmaster, he had never utilised his full physical strength for anything but hearing Yuder being unconscious made him remember all the precarious situations his assistant had been in.

Although Kishiar was aware that Yuder could get out of almost any situation unscathed, his tendency to push his body to limits proved to be very dangerous. He would have liked to say that he feared nothing, but it was far from the truth. His assistant, who was overly competent for his age evoked emotions in him which painfully stirred his heart whenever incidents like these occurred.

Kishiar maneuveringly weaved through the bustling cavalry hallways and swiftly made his way towards the medical division which was somewhat crowded with Ever and Pruelle trying to calm down the crowd. Watching Kishiar appear in the front of the medical room they both collectively sighed a breath of relief and stepped back.

“Everyone, thank you for being so understanding and worrying about our beloved members but as we all know resting matters the most in accidents like these. Therefore I request you to step back. Also we wouldn’t want Yuder knowing that you all skipped training now would we?” A light voice riddled with jest carried over the entire area though anyone could understand the hidden authority and finality in those words.

Hearing those words everyone looked around and stepped back from the area, especially the first generation members who looked more terrified at the prospect of Yuder knowing.

“Are the consequences that bad..?” Someone asked in the back of the crowd.

Watching the retreating crowd, Ever and Pruelle turned towards Kishiar and bowed their heads in a light greeting.

“Commmander”

“Deputy commander Ever” Flashing a quick smile Kishiar acknowledged the greeting and inquired about the situation.

“Commander. Yuder, Kanna and Gakane were training the new recruit together and they had also taken necessary precautions. When we heard of the training we went to watch it but as soon as we got there, suddenly the new recruits' power went berserk and started attacking Yuder and others.”

“We wanted to step in but the shield by Yuder stopped us. Just as we were thinking of helping them in another way, there was a sudden burst of light and … we lost consciousness for a few minutes” Ever muttered the last part dejectedly and looked away ashamed.

“All of you lost consciousness?”

“Yes, as far as I know, everyone caught up in explosion lost consciousness for a few moments, though those closest to the explosion were more injured”

“I see, don’t worry, such unforeseen events occur all the time. Even Yuder wouldn’t fault you for that” Kishiar gently remarked.

Assuring Ever, Kishiar left behind the two members and opened the door of the room. Opening the door, Kishiar came face to face with Yuder sitting on the bed and the pharmacist pulling his cheeks while grumbling. Hearing the creak of the door, both of them turned around and looked towards Kishiar.

Trembling red eyes like rubies locked in towards the violet eyes, both seemed to drink in each other's presence and bask in the attention. The trembling red eyes scanned the younger man for any serious injuries and only settled when they thoroughly checked every inch of him.

“Stop doing this thing in front of me” Enon grumbled quietly, letting go of Yuder’s cheeks.

“Is he alright?”

“He is physically fine. Just some minor injures not that serious” Enon explained

“Physcially? Does that mean…” Kishiar trailed off still looking at Yuder

“He hasn’t gone crazy yet, he only got affected by that guy’s mental power.”

“What type of mental power was it?” Kishiar asked curiously with a bit of concern.

“It’s a power which targets victims' regret or hidden desire and casts an illusion based on that” This time Yuder answered from the bed.

Yuder briefly explained how the power works to the amused and indulgent looking Kishiar. After the explanation was done, he clamped his mouth shut and waited for Kishiar to process the information. It didn’t take too long as Kishiar started listing theories to overcome illusions.

“Can the illusion be broken by pouring in more awakener's power? Since the caster can’t see the illusion, can it be compared independent, having its own conscience?”

As expected, Kishiar’s mind worked differently from others. He didn’t care about anything sounding absurd and always strove to think out of the box. Unbeknownst to Yuder, his eyes shone brightly while being glued to the muttering figure. If they heard a groan with a mutter of ‘insufferable brats’ in the background neither of them paid attention to that.

“Those two are also affected by the power but it isn’t as strong as yours. Since you took the brunt of the power, it seems to have affected you the most” Aeron told Yuder and Kishiar with his head hanging low. They had just stopped the tirade of apologies he launched as soon as they visited him.

“And for the other things, I am not sure either since I have never seen a case like this before..”

“Very well, don’t worry about this incident, you know our beloved assistant can overcome anything” Kishiar added with a wink.

After checking up on Kanna and Gakane, they retreated towards the commander’s office, presumably to talk about the incident. In the dark room. outline of two figures could be seen embraced together, painting an obscenely innocent picture of two hearts entwined in one.
After what seemed like an eternity the figures separated, gazing deeply into each other.

“Commander…” Yuder muttered quietly, staring into those beautiful red orbs.

Understanding the silent request in his voice, Kishiar wordlessly moved forward and pressed his lips onto the waiting pair. Their lips locked into a gentle embrace with both of them sighing contently feeling an emotion akin to years of thirst being quenched. Parting after a few moments they gazed deeply into each other’s eyes.

“Are you alright, anywhere it hurts?” Yuder immediately understood the root of concern in Kishiar’s voice. Somewhere deep within Yuder a brief sense of satisfaction bloomed in being worried about, though he would never admit it out loud.

“As you can see, it isn’t that serious and the illusion hasn’t appeared till now” Yuder answered honestly.

“Then, may I ask how the incident happened?”

“You probably heard from others how it happened. It was my carelessness. I am prepared to take any punishments”

“Punishment? You mean that I should punish the one who suffered the major impact of the power?” Kishiar asked in a serious tone.

“That…”

“You think I don’t know the reason you got hurt was because you were busy trying to prevent any power from escaping the barrier whilst protecting Gakane and Kanna from the impact.”
‘As expected he already knew, Kishiar was very perspective and especially so when the matters concerned Yuder. I couldn’t have deceived him even if I wanted to.” Yuder stood silent accepting the gentle rebuke calmly without protesting anymore, causing Kishiar to smile.

“Although I would like to give you a day off, I know you wouldn’t like that so please take breaks whenever the illusion appears” Kishiar gently pleaded with a pitiful yet solemn face, batting his eyelashes. Even though it appeared as a mock act from outside, anyone with eyes could feel the underlying concern in that voice and expression.

“I will..” Yuder answered with a stiff expression. Watching the sour expression on the young man’s face, Kishiar’s eyes crinkled with amusement and affection. He would be lying if he said he wasn’t tired and had no work but he wanted to do nothing more than lie in Yuder’s embrace. As if reading his mind, Yuder clasped his hand and led him towards the inner chambers.

Being a simple human he gave in to his whims, embracing the young man tightly and retiring for the night.

.

..

….

In the dead of the night, a figure moves stealthy, blending into the surroundings. The figure moves with mechanical grace, neither swift nor slow, like a marionette pulled by unseen strings. The figure carries a dagger in their hand prepared for a fight yet to come but no matter how much they move no one greets them. Their lips tilt downward, a motion closer to habit than feeling, they keep moving forward and reach a dead end.

Above, an open window beckons, curtains fluttering like pale wings. Without hesitation, the figure leaps, slipping through the frame and landing soundlessly inside. The dagger rises, pointing towards the unseen threat.

Instead of swords and arrows a quiet voice greets them with a smile and offer of tea. The offer is almost absurd in the stillness of night. The figure tries to remember the purpose of their visit and angrily rejects the offer. The other person, a man with bright golden hair and red ruby-like eyes just smiles tiredly and starts reminiscing about useless memories from the past.

Listening to the man the figure galls at the absurdity of their conversation, but no sooner the conversation is finished, the figure stabs the man sitting in his chair. The figure watches the light dim from those red eyes and a content smile painted in red blood. The figure just stares at the grotesquely beautiful man without moving for an unknown passage of time.

The figure steps forward, turning their back towards the man. Their steps die down the next instant and they turn around and move towards the man sitting in the chair. A bloodied hand cups the pale cheek. The figure leans closer, forehead resting against the cooling skin. For a moment, the marionette’s strings go slack. In the stillness of air, against the cold skin the figure utters a silent confession, the last drop of credulity from their bleeding heart buried in the still night for eternity.

“Farewell, Kishiar…”

A hand descends from the pale cheek towards the bleeding wound and grabs the stained hilt buried deep within the other's core. Gazing deeply on the marred face, the figure extracts the blade with a splop sound ringing in the entire room.

With a solemn look the figure lifts its forehead and arises from the ghastly haunting body. Approaching the window the wind caresses its hair, embracing the lonesome figure. The figure sweeps a quick glance towards the body lying on the chair and leaves.

Yuder blankly stared at the ceiling, only then realising he had woken from his sleep. He laid wordlessly for a few moments trying to calm down his beating heart. Looking around it seemed Kishiar had already woken up, somehow that made Yuder feel relieved and yet regretful.

Of course he would like to see Kishiar but he didn’t know what type of emotions would spill out of him if he saw that face again. After spending a few moments contemplating, he moved to get out of the bed.

No sooner had he risen up, the door to the room flew open with a figure clad in white clothes and his golden hair tussled messily. Upon seeing the black haired man standing, crinkling his eyes he burst into a bright smile.

“Slept well?” Kishiar asked moving around the room.

“...Yes”

Soon a pair of clean clothes were placed in his hands. ‘I don’t remember leaving my clothes in here’. Yuder inquiringly looked towards Kishiar, holding the clothes.

“Ah, I had them make another pair in case you decided to spend the night here”

The underlying sexual intent wasn’t lost on Yuder, he cleared his throat, gazing straight in those bright red eyes. He was pretty sure Kishiar hadn’t only asked for one such pair. ‘If it's him, he probably already has a closet full of it.’ Although Yuder wasn’t the one to indulge in such trivial extravagance but seeing Kishiar delighted whenever he wore such clothes, he can just never bring himself to ask him to stop.

“You could have asked me, why trouble yourself with these trivial matters..”

“I know you would say that, but if you gave me one of yours, you would have one less for yourself”

As soon as Yuder opened his mouth to rebuke, Kishiar silenced him with his silver tongue.

“I don’t want my assistant to worry about such trivial things, and rather bestow me the honour of providing you with trivial gifts.” he replied, making puppy eyes which somehow worked with his handsome face.

“Fine” Yuder muttered and somehow seeing the brightening face, Yuder felt all the tension drain from his shoulders.

“Now shall we have breakfast? You must be hungry right?"
