Chapter Text
Dean's Point of View:
November 17th
"I want to tell Cas he can court me."
"When do you plan on doing it?"
"I don't know."
"Are you worried about something?"
"Yeah. What if he changed his mind? What if I waited too long?"
"You are valid to feel this, but throughout our sessions, I don't believe he would. Has he said anything?"
"No, thanks, Pam. God, I'm happy Sam forced me to see you."
"I am too. I'm proud of you."
"Thanks, I hope it will be okay for us to take it slow. Everything was so fast with Nick. I know Cas is different and we are actual soulmates and true mates."
"He understands this?"
"Yeah, I've made it clear. It's not like we avoided each other. We started getting to know each other as friends. I know I can't put him on a pedestal like before, but I'm damn lucky to have him be my person."
"It's okay to feel you're lucky to be with him. As you said, don't think they are God."
"Yeah, Nick was like Lucifer in disguise."
"We are running out of time, but remember I'm proud of you for taking the next step."
"Yeah, I'm happy about it. Cas makes me happy. It's adorable he calls us dating courting though."
"He's a gentleman."
"He is. To answer your earlier question. I'm thinking of asking him over for burgers. It's one of the first things we bonded over. I want it to be more than just a text. Bobby and Ellen agreed to have a date night and go to a hotel. They've done so much. I wish they'd let me pay for it. Bobby says he needs to do something romantic more often."
I laugh.
"It sounds like an amazing plan. Good luck, I'm not sure you'll need it."
"Thanks, see you Tuesday at 2:15?"
"Yes. I have scheduled you for the same time on Thursday. Don't forget to pick up your refill."
"Bobby or Ellen still picks it up. I still feel like a kid sometimes."
"It's understandable."
"But, I need them, and they have been helpful. I'm glad they never used the guns."
"Yes, I don't think that would help you."
I laugh. I heard him mumble about using it plenty of times. Luckily Nick took the deal, and I haven't heard from him or anyone since. It didn't stop the anxiety and panic attacks hence the pills.
-----
Friday:
"Dean, you know he is going to be thrilled."
"Yeah, yeah. I still want it to be perfect."
"If you need us..."
"I know, Ellen. I will call you or Sammy."
"Bobby, let's go."
"Yes, I'm ready."
"Treat her well."
"I will. You got nothing to worry about, ya idjit."
"Thanks Bobby, love you too."
I laugh, but I catch a smile.
----
6:00 pm
"I missed your burgers, Dean. They are wonderful."
"Thanks."
"Is something wrong?"
"What, no."
"You seem nervous."
"I am. I wanted to tell you I'm ready."
"Ready for what?"
He tilts his head and he's adorable.
"I'm ready for you to court me if you still want to."
"Oh, Dean, I'm so happy. Yes."
He lights up.
"Can I hug you?"
"Yes, can we scent?"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Can we go to the couch though?"
"Yes."
He follows me and I am excited. I hope it won't be a mistake, but when he pulls me in to an amazing hug and we scent. It is amazing and it feels intimate in a different way. We haven't scented like that. The only time I feel his scent is on his clothes and sheets during heats.
I pull back despite it being hard to. He takes my hand we just sit in peaceful silence staring. I see the slight red in his eyes. I assume he felt the same thing.
"Dean, I am so happy."
"Yeah, me too. I uh, talked about my plans for today in therapy."
"Do you want to tell me about it?"
"I will another time, you are an amazing man. Did you know that?"
"So are you."
"You've been patient through everything. I can't promise it will be perfect. I talked with Pam about this."
"I understand."
"She said it might be a good idea for you to go to therapy. If you want to, I think it could be good. Safe zone to talk about stuff in our relationship, how to bring something up, what to do if I have a panic attack about something."
"I will find a therapist. I want to be there for you. I want to help you be happy and healthy."
"Thank you. Do you want to maybe watch a movie?"
"I would like that. Will Ellen and Bobby be home soon?"
"Bobby went all out for date night including a nice hotel. He also did it because he didn't want to interrupt our date."
"This is our first date officially?"
"Yes, Cas. It is our first date."
"How about I make dinner on our second date?"
"It depends on what."
"I can cook."
"Five meals."
"I've perfected them. How about spaghetti and meatballs?"
"Sounds good."
"I'll ask Amelia and Claire to bake a pie."
"You're really trying to impress me."
"I believe that is the proper way to court someone."
"I look forward to it. Can we watch Tombstone?"
"Anything you want."
It was better than I could have hoped for being with Cas. We scent each other a few more times and once before he goes at midnight.
I already know how amazing he is through his friendship and I'm excited to find out how he is as a partner.
-----
12:30 am
Dean: He is courting me.
Charlie: Yes!
Dean: You're the first to know.
Charlie: Not Ellen and Bobby or Sam. I'm honored.
Dean: I wanted to tell you as soon as possible, but Ellen and Bobby went out tonight and stayed at a nice hotel. I knew Sammy was going to be asleep. I was going to tell you in the morning, but I can't seem to fall asleep.
Charlie: Aww, that's adorable. Tell me anything you want to.
Dean: Okay and hey, you don't need to do a background check.
Charlie: Well, I already did.
Dean: Charlie...
Charlie: I just needed to okay?
Dean: Okay, I was joking.
Charlie: Yeah, I know. Don't tell, Cas.
Dean: I won't. He'd understand. Hell, he'd encourage you to. Haha
Charlie: Thanks and yeah. You got yourself a good one. He's damn lucky to have you.
Dean: Thanks. It went really well. We labeled it our first date and he says he's going to cook for me next weekend.
Charlie: Oh, can't he only make like five things?
Dean: That's what I said. Haha
