Chapter Text
A Jack of all Trades is a master of none. It’s another saying that has been warped into meaning almost the opposite of the original phrase by those who it called out for being too high and mighty when there were others that were just as intellectual as them who were just born into worse circumstances.
A Jack of all Trades is a master of none, but always better than a master of one. I know how the others think, that’s why I have made it this far, I can predict how they work and can use it to my advantage. Everyone is predictable if you look long enough, if you look deep into their ,soon to be, tragic broken souls you will find their darkest secrets and their harshest truths.
Quiet chatter fills the classroom full of some of the strangest people Ochako has ever met, as well as some of the most annoying children she has ever met (and she knows Elise so she definitely knows what she is talking about) but everything feels… empty to her, like something deep within the oldest parts of her heart has been ripped from her grasp, she knows exactly what is missing from her, her family. The only family she has here is her older brother Keigo and she loves him to the moon and back, but she misses her dad, her papa, her oldest brother, her older sister. She misses when they were all back home together, eating, chatting, feeling like a semi-normal family and not a family forged by trauma and society ignoring those who are suffering.
Around the room there are pockets of her classmates talking and gossiping about nothing in particular, but something is wrong and she knows it’s not the aching of being without her family, she knows it’s not the gnawing feeling that she will never really know those she manipulated into thinking she has befriended them, but she knows it has something to do with home and she cannot hope it comes faster. As much as she begged to be sent on this mission, she is slightly regretting it now, the only time it feels like the world isn’t drowning around her is when she is with Kei but with him being a pro hero (the ONLY pro hero she accepts as well as maybe Aizawa-sensei) and everything else that goes on with her school life they rarely get to see each other and she has to admit that she is a tiny bit jealous of her classmate Tokoyami for getting to spend more time with her brother than she does. It’s unjust in her opinion and all she wants now is to finally get called back to Yokohama and be relived of her duties as not only a spy for the armed detective agency and the port mafia but also a detective to try and figure out how so much information has been leaked about her ‘current’ class.
Right before class was about to start, three people made the way into the rowdy classroom full of strange, determined teens opposed to the usual one person that was barely awake at the start of the day.
Midnight, Present Mic and Aizawa.
Ochako can only describe the atmosphere as suffocating now that three of their teachers had entered the classroom at the same time, not to mention the look of dread creeping onto their faces even though you can tell they are trying their hardest to not scare anyone with what they are inevitably going to have tell the unprepared class.
Aizawa was the one who started the announcement, as it was his class, although he seemed almost hesitant to establish what was causing the uncomfortable atmosphere and let his students into whatever secret they had been told. He was right to do so.
“ Everyone we have some … interesting news for the whole class.”
Class-1A paused like statues on a mantle, waiting for whatever news seemed to have caused their teachers to be so concerned and reluctant to tell them what was happening.
“ Class-1A has been picked to go on a field trip…”
Murmurs immediately rippled across the classroom speculating where they could be going, wondering if they would be getting a vacation after everything they had experienced thus far through their school journey. Something didn’t sit right with the brunette, Why had a simple field trip caused this much chaos among staff? Then it hit her. Everything her parents had been saying, seemingly random things to do with back home and the people she had grown up with back there. The uncertainty of the staff, of course they would be on edge, the rumours surrounding her home were full of dangers and curses that were purely fictional but it was gossip, and people LOVE gossip.
She was going home. Her mission was finally over.
“ Settle down,” her homeroom teacher commanded, “ The place principle Nedzu has sent you to is,” The word almost caught in his mouth “ Yokohama.”
The reaction was instant, gasps and shock filled with angered shouting about the dangers of the ‘Villain ran city’ and how they shouldn’t be sending children into what was essentially the most unknown city in the country. Students, future heroes and current heroes alike scared of a single city just because they did not control those inside of it, it seriously scared Ochako that these were the worlds Heroes and Heroines that they bragged about to keep them safe, she wasn’t fooled by it and she knew too much of what went on from the inside to ever think of it as a ‘safe’ system. She had seen what they had done to her brother first hand, as well as what they had done to the one he loved, she knew their secrets, they could not fool her, they never could.
As if she had summoned him by purely thinking of him her brother soon came into the conversation, “ As many of you know Hawks is the only known pro hero to have ever set foot in Yokohama since it was closed off and as that is where we shall be going he will be accompanying our class to keep us safe.” This news seemed to quell some of her classmates worries, the number 2 hero keeping an eye on them wouldn’t be too bad, but all Ochako could think about was that stupid ‘mission’ he had gone on a while back, the ‘mission’ they were referring to was actually just him visiting their dad and papa for a bit so he could relax.
All of that aside Ochako was ecstatic, she would be going home, and she could be herself once again.
She couldn’t wait!
