Stay Here, I'm Here

Summary:

Cassius' head was racing. He knew Snow would pull some stunt like this. He asked for Finnick to stay at the Roman Hotel. He wanted to do it so Finnick could get out of sex work, but obviously, Snow had other plans. Making Finnick be a mentor wasn't letting him rest like Cassius wanted. Now, Finnick had to watch some kids die. Cassius knew he couldn't be mad. He was getting what he asked for, but this wasn't the desired outcome.

Or;

Finnick is a mentor this year and he may be a tad in love with his stylist, and his stylist may be a tad in love with him.

(Non-con is only implied and mentioned, there is no actual rape scenes.)

Notes:

It's rated Mature due to mentions of rape and sexual assault. Cassius does not do it. There are a few scenes were it's clear that it happened and there's a few conversations about it. Cassius himself is implied to be on the asexual spectrum.

No, Annie doesn't exist here. I'm not going to kill her off. Actually, me and her are kissing as I'm writing this.

This chapter is just background about Cassius.

Chapter 1: Background

Chapter Text

Cassius Flickerman was the sort of man people hated based on personality but loved based on everything else. He let no one close besides his family. Like all Flickermen, he was close to his family. His father, Gaius, has joined the peacekeepers in District 4. Unfortunately, or fortunately, this led to Cassius being much closer to his uncle, Ceasar Flickerman, than to his father. Due to his father's involvement in Disctrict 4, he frequently visited and knew most of the victors.

Cassius was a student under Tigris. He adapted her style and got his own animal design on his body. After gaining an official license to become a designer, he was assigned many victors from District 4. He particularly enjoyed making fish-like designs to keep with his habit of animal based designs.

His favourite to design was always Finnick Odair. Unlike many careers, Finnick never minded what he was dressed in and never made a complaint. Cassius would always make him as beautiful as possible. He always made a Siamese fighting fish sort of costume, letting a long fin go down both legs and arms, along with one down his back. His shirt would be a v-neck, and the neckline flailed out in a flamboyant way to make the colours blend.

Cassius' own clothes always matched the person he went with. Any time he had to go to a party with a victor, he'd match their colors and district. Whenever he went with his uncle, he'd always match the colour that Caesar would dye his hair for the upcoming games.

His least favourite (or favourite, however you wanted to take it) thing to do wear a long feather cape. He had it engineered to match his bird aesthetic. Matching peacocks, he was able to make it raise on command to bring attention to himself... or hide someone. Typically, he was hiding one of the "golden" victors from handsy "clients." It always did bring attention to him, which he hated, but it helped out the "golden" victor, so he didn't mind. It didn't always work, though. Cassius is 5'5, while a lot of male careers are much taller; which is why Cassius always wears heels.

Due to him always hanging around the "golden" victors, he is granted a sort of pass to "buy" them whenever he liked. Cassius was never interested in that sort of thing and would only visit one of the victors if he knew they needed help or rest.

Recently, Cassius had seen Finnick much more tired and hurt than usual. He sent a letter to President Snow to try and get permission for Finnick to stay at the Roman Hotel from the start to the end of the Hunger Games.

President Snow accepted.
