I love you, (not) Platonically.

Summary:

Kiribaku middle school... but based off a true story.

Kirishima and Bakugo are bestfriends... but not really. They don't know they are, at least not yet. I'm not good at writing summaries. Basically, Kirishima hates Bakugo, but doesn't know that everyday he talks to the very dude he hates so much, shares his deepest insecurities and secrets with him. Then they get to Highschool, and they start to develop a friendship in real life. What will happen when they start to open up about their middle school relationship? Will Kirishima find out the truth?

Notes:

** Means it's a flashback,
^^ mean it's text!

Hey hey, this is my first time writing on AO3. So sorry if the formatting is weird. Anyways, Kiribaku is soulfood for me, so yes, Kiribaku content in 2026. I'm a bit rusty at writing, but I hope you enjoy all the same. This is an ongoing work, irregular updates, as I have a job and am extremely tired most days. Sorry the first chapter is so short. I really just needed to get my idea out there to see if people would even want to hear this story. Please comment or give me Kudos of you'd like to read more, happy reading!!

Chapter Text

The day was full of hostility. Like every school day was. Kirishima hated school. He threw his bag onto his floor, collapsing onto his bed with a groan, immediately thinking back to an embarrassing moment he had a few hours earlier.

**"Hey... get the fuck out of my way."
He felt a sharp push to his shoulder, nearly knocking him off kilter. He turned immediately, about to make some pissy remark, but quickly shut his mouth once he realized who it was. Katsuki Bakugo. He felt his teeth clench. There was no escaping this guy. He was the rudest, loudest, most egotistical prick at this school. He seemed absolutely convinced that his shit didn't stink. "Yeah... whatever man." He replied, quickly shuffling away, pushing through the sea of people to get to his class.

As he sat down, his mind wandered back to Katsuki. Not on purpose. Never on purpose. He just couldn't get his stupid smirk out of his head. He sauntered down the halls like he owned the damn school. Someone, anyone, should put that guy in his place. Only when he felt the seat next to him move, did he finally perk up. One of his bestfriends was here. The timid boy with green hair gave Kirishima a smile. "Hey! Good morning Kirishima-Kun."
" Morning, Zuku."

Just then the door to the classroom burst open, and there stood the entitled blonde. Kirishima audibly groaned. This dude was so cocky he showed up to class everyday like the class couldn't possibly function without him.
Class started without a hitch, for the most part anyway. Half way through the lesson, Kirishima got bored like he usually did. He let his eyes wander across the classroom, the dull, flickering light above him did nothing to ease his boredom. He zoned out, taking atleast a solid minute before snapping back to reality. Bakugo was staring at him. God, how long was he zoned out? He didn't want this guy thinking he was willingly looking at him. Bakugo gave him a sadistic smirk, and Kirishima whipped his head back to the front of the classroom so fast it nearly gave him whiplash.

Great, Eijirou. Way to go.**

~
It was almost 7 pm when he finally got some peace. He let his body finally rest on his bed, letting out an exhausted groan. When he got home from school, he had to help his moms' make dinner, do his workout and homework. It all felt like so much all in one day. His brain was fried. He instinctively opened Discord on his phone, clicking on the blank profile with a weird morse code esque name. He wasn't hard to find, he was pinned after all. Let's call this guy Blank. He only had Blank, Izuku and Mina added on Discord. He had met Blank through a mutual server for Crimson Riot fans. Kirishima had asked about a limited edition playing card regarding his favorite hero, and Blank had answered him almost immediately, correctly too.

After that, they quickly got along. They talked nearly everday after school. Honestly, Blank was properly one of the people he valued most in his life. Except for Izuku and Mina of course. He sighed, going to type out a greeting message. He shut his phone off soon after, not expecting a reply anytime soon. Blank never replied fast. He was always too busy doing something, something very important and cool, Eijirou was sure.

He felt his entire body jolt when his phone pinged with the Discord message sound effect. Huh. That was odd.

He clicked on the message.

^Hey.^

Eijirou snorted. Nothing was different today. Blank was still as dry as ever.

^Hey, man! How was school today? I have alottttt to tell you :}^

Typing.....

^Fine. Tell me.^

Eijirou flopped over onto his stomach, putting a pillow under his chin as he begun typing.

^Asshole dude at school today. Bumps into me in the hallway then gets mad at ME for it!! Can't believe this dude. Then I zoned out in class, and found myself staring at him on accident. :/^

Typing....

^He probably thinks you like him.^

Kirishima snickered. No way. Blank had jokes.

^Funny. But no. This guy bullies my bestfriend, and couldn't give less of a shit about me. I'd rather go bald than ever like that guy.^

They talked for a few more hours. Their conversations weren't about anything in particular. Just random stuff. What they had to eat, what they did at school, and occasionally Kirishima would complain about Bakugo, and Blank would tell Kirishima about his crush. Blank would never outright call it that, though. Blank was the avoidant type. He hardly shared any personal information about himself to Kirishima. All Kirishima knew was that he was in Japan, and they were the same age, Blank being just a bit older than him by a few months.

When he spoke about his crush, it wasn't anything particularly tender. Just comments.

^He forgot to style his hair today. I didn't hate it.^

^Heard him talking about All Might. Didn't know he liked him.^

^His voice isn't totally annoying.^

Honestly, for Blank, that was basically a proposal.
