Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Sofie's life before the apocalypse wasn't very different, besides...you know, people coming back from the dead and eating each other.

Her parents struggled with drug use, so most of the time, Sofie took care of herself or stayed with her neighbor, an elderly Korean lady named Cindy, who lived in the apartment across the hallway. Cindy was nice, she had a fat cat named Smokey and a grandson about Sofie's age.

When Sofie was ten, her mother overdosed, and she was sent to live with her uncle in Georgia.

When the world fell, Sofie was in her room reading comic books. Her uncle came into her room, handed her a backpack, and told her to pack a few outfits and essentials. She was very confused and started to worry that her uncle was sending her back home, but after she finished packing and walked into the living room, she saw her uncle was also packed and watching the news. He rushed her out the door before she could see what he was watching.

At first, they were in a military camp. Her uncle tried to keep her from the truth of what was happening. But, you know how that went...someone in the camp died...turned...and started eating people.

That was the first time she saw it, someone being eaten. It still gives her nightmares.

After that, they wandered the roads for a while before coming upon Woodbury.

A year later, two women showed up

Andrea and Michonne.

Sofie liked Andrea pretty well, but Michonne was quite odd. She did have a cool katana. Michonne didn't stay long, leaving after a day or two, but Andrea stayed, and Sofie grew attached to her. Andrea told her about her sister and a group she knew at the beginning. She said there was a kid about Sofie's age named Carl and that they probably would've been friends.

About three weeks after Andrea showed up, she would disappear...

...and the fall of Woodbury.
