Feelings bloom, like the flowers in the spring

Summary:

After he and Hirose became friends, Nakamura gets to be closer than ever to his beloved crush. As both of them get along even better each new day, there is Kawamura who's their classmate. It's not much of a secret that she likes Nakamura, but he's too dense to notice due to the fact that Hirose is occupying his thoughts at all times. Even tho she hasn't had many chances to talk to her crush, Kawamura tries mustering up the courage to ask out Nakamura. It's mainly her friends forcing her, really. But a part of her also wants to really do it. As she gets closer and closer to doing it, Hirose and Nakamura seem to get along better than ever. If she were to confess, how would that go? Hirose, whose view on Nakamura might be changing heavily eventually notices and can't help but... to feel jealous?
[Aka: Hirose and Nakamura getting super close and Kawamura eventually comes in the picture and seems to be a "threat" from Hirose's point of view, which, of course isn't true.]

Chapter 1: My crush wants to hang out after school!

Chapter Text

It was a typical school morning for Nakamura even tho he got woken up by Kana, who in a frustrated manner claimed that Icchan escaped again. After a small argument with his sister he put his octopus back, got ready and went to school.
What was on his mind, you might ask? Hirose. Aiki Hirose was his classmate or rather his friend since a few weeks. Despite his efforts to act cool because Hirose was in fact his crush for god knows how long, he somehow always found a way to embarrass himself. Nakamura was astonished by how his crush isn't judging someone like him. I mean, come on! Nakamura seems to be some "weird loner" to all of his classmates, except to Hirose, that is.

He shook his head as he realized that the overthinking isn't doing him any good. Usually he would've imagined him and Hirose being super close, just like the main characters in love, Ben! So that's what his mind shifted to in less than five seconds. Nakamura dreamily looked up to the sky as he was about to enter the school gates but suddenly, there was a gentle tap on his shoulder and to his surprise the boy he just fantasized about stood in front of him. "H-Hirose!?", exclaimed the dark haired boy. "Morning Nakamura!! watcha doing?", his crush asked in response. "I uh.. I was about to go through the school gates.." The smaller boy smiled gently and suggested that they both can go to class together.
On the walk to class Nakamura thought of all the things that he could say but then again, he wouldn't want to embarrass himself in front of Hirose. At the same time, the other boy intensively thought about how to start a conversation and what it should be about. All of a sudden, Nakamura was surprisingly the one who initiated the conversation. "S-so.. what are you doing after school?" In his mind he was freaking out and that BADLY. Is it weird to ask your crush something like that!? Hirose seemed lost in thought for a split second before answering with: "Well.. I was planning to visit a new restaurant that's not far from here with Oomori after school, but he sadly hat to cancel our plans due to him having to help his parents with something". Nakamura immediately thought of how much of a jerk Oomori seemed to be. Leaving Hirose hanging, really!? that's absurd! Without thinking a few words escaped his mouth. "I can go with you instead, if you'd like". The brown haired boy's head perked up.
"I couldn't have imagined you offering something like that, but I'm kinda glad that I'll still get to spend time with a friend!" Nakamura's eyes were basically sparkling at this point, because of Hirose's indirect "okay". For once, their conversation seemed to be going smoothly but it was cut short as they realized how late it already was.
They arrived just on time - just as the bell rang. Both of them went to their own seats and Nakamura immediately started overthinking EVERYTHING. "Why did I offer to go with him even tho I'll end up being an awkward mess!?", "at the same time I couldn't be happier! I get to have Hirose all of myself!!" and many thoughts, as well as moodswings.

The day at school was long and Nakamura's daydreaming in class was cut short by Otogiri sensei asking him a question and embarrassing him in front of the class. So the time spent in class was complete crap, to say the least. But now he had something to look forward to: his restaurant date with his beloved Hirose! Wait, could he even call it a date?
...
That doesn't matter because all that matters is that he can spend some time with his crush. He hurriedly ran towards the school entrance after changing his shoes, just so that he could be there earlier than the other boy. After about two minutes Hirose, who was seemingly searching for Nakamura smiled brightly as he approached him.
Both of them walked out of the school as Hirose talked about how annoying it is when you have homework and Nakamura made sure to listen very carefully. Little did they know that behind them were a few girls. It wasn't just any girls, since it actually was Kawamura and her friends. Her friends believed that they've got a masterplan. "Trust me on this one, when he sees you up close, he'll be in love in less than three seconds!", one of them said. The other giggled while agreeing. And just like that their plan set in motion. They pushed Kawamura into Nakamura and they fell on the floor. "Oh no, are the two of you okay!?", Hirose exclaimed almost immediately. "U-uhm.. I'm.. okay", Kawamura exclaimed as she slowly but carefully got up. She knew, the plan her friends made was nothing more than nonsense.
There was no way that she and Nakamura would eventually have their own special romantic moment. Especially not while everyone is around, because that'd be just way too embarrassing!!
Instead of going away Hirose stayed with the girls. Which, of course, made Nakamura stay too." Hey, I was wondering.. would you guys be up to going to a new restaurant that's not far away from here?", the brunette boy asked. At first the girls exchanged glances but without further thinking they chose to go with the boys. Mostly for the sake of Kawamura and her crush, tho. They knew what they had to do and they weren't letting go until they knew if Nakamura is interested or not.

As they settled down in the restaurant, the girls and boys sat on opposite sides. "I'm thinking about ordering a spicy burger, what about you guys?", said one of Kawamura's friends. "I think I'll just get small fries..", Nakamura said, almost in a whisper. Internally he was angrier than ever because this was supposed to be HIS time with HIS crush. Being interrupted like that made him boil with anger, but of course he couldn't say something like that out loud.
After they ordered there was an awkward silence for quite a time until Hirose looked towards the boy who sat next to him and asked: "Is everything okay? you look kind of sad.." this caused Nakamura to jump up and talk about everything's just fine while stuttering. Hirose couldn't let go of this tho. If he was Nakamura's friend now, he should be a good friend and ask about it again if they eventually get to be alone again.

After they finished, the girls stood up and thanked for the nice time. Knowing that the three girls would leave now because they wanted to study some more, Hirose made sure to stay behind with Nakamura. "I don't know if bringing this up now that they're gone is a good idea but.. earlier you seemed so sad and distraught. I just wanted to check in and make sure that you're feeling okay, y'know?", Hirose said as he looked the taller boy in the eyes, the seriousness showing on his face. "Ah, it's nothing much. I guess I just get drained from social stuff very easily..", even tho it wasn't the whole truth, Nakamura preferred telling this to Hirose than admitting that he is madly in love with him and wanted at least a bit of alone time. "Oh crap! that's my mistake then! I'm so sorry for dragging you along!!" before the tanner boy could overthink any more "No, I had fun spending time with you, I.. really did", came out of Nakamura's mouth. Hirose sat there in disbelief. Since when had the dark haired boy gotten this honest? It was kind of endearing, really. Instead of a face filled with anxiety, there was a smile plastered on Hirose's face now. Even though Nakamura was internally freaking out and wasn't sure whether that gave him plus points with Hirose or not, the other boy seemed to be taking the compliment very well. "I'm actually very glad that Nakamura is being more open. It's.. kind of nice to see", he thought to himself.

As they exited the restaurant they noticed that the air had gotten way cooler than it was before. "We should get home as soon as possible, or else we'll freeze out here!!", Hirose joked. Nakamura just admired him in silence because he knew that he might not get many moments like these after this day. "Well then, how about we part ways now?", the boy with hazelnut coloured eyes suggested. "Ah.. sure", the other said, as his long bangs covered his eyes a little. "I-..I hope you get home safe!", he awkwardly added. Hirose was basically beaming at this point. " Thanks, you too!! and thank you for the great time we've spent with eachother today." Nakamura's face reddened but he still tried his best to keep his cool, smiled softly and replied: "No problem".
After Hirose was further away from Nakamura He started thinking. Back then he was beaming because he head realized that the day had been a success but.. even now he hasn't stopped. The dark haired boy, his soft tone and nice words were on Hirose's mind. "Huh, Nakamura is the kind of person you can't get out of your head once you get to know him better I suppose..", he whispered under his breath
