Austin invites Hasan to Portland for a much needed break.
“Will I have to stay at a Marriott?”
“No,” he says, gentle.
“Will you buy me a seat in economy?”
He can almost hear him smiling when he says, “No. You can buy your own economy seats. You’re not a poor twink.”
“Okay,” says Hasan before he can think about changing his mind, “I’ll come to Portland.”
