Chapter Text
Gopg was not having a good day. The mental exhaustion and strain that was being brought to him through the time with the Syndicate wasn’t great. Times like these he missed Dumb, he was still angry with the other about dying but at the end of the day what had he expected? Nothing about this world was nice. He had friends but they never truly lasted, his hands trembled on the flame trident. His eyes almost dead as he made his way through the hall.
The weapon was so heavy in his hands. Like a constant tug on his heart like he was being guided by the weapon. He made his way into the room, blinking at the figure on the platform, eyes squinting slightly.
“You called for me sir?” Gop said, his voice low and exhausted. His hands kept flexing around the trident and he focused on the other. He breathed softly.
“Yeah we got a call from the higher ups. Take some potions from the stash and I’ll walk you to the person you’re guarding.” Sorhin said, moving in the direction of the long stairs that Gopg had just climbed.
“I’m guarding someone?" Gop said, voice light confusion lacing his tone as he rubbed his wrists.
“Yeah. Some new guy they found snooping around. He’s a leviathan. Seems pretty powerful too. He keeps yapping about someone named Loonac so we’re trying to find him. Might be something you do later who knows.” Sorhin shrugged
“Why am I guarding him?” Gop asked, moving his hands to his hair and tying it back wincing as he put the trident into his sheath. Hands free and a bit of feeling returning to his hazed mind.
“You have a weapon now, you can handle him yourself. Worse case you just kill him if he doesn’t listen you know?” Sorhin laughed slightly, nudging the other “And pull the trident back out we are almost there.
Gopg blinked, pulling out his trident and staring dead at his it, eyes dull and head spinning. He had to guard someone new. He knew how exhausted he looked. He probably wasn’t the best example for a good guard. His hands burned from his new weapon and eyes fluttered as he made his way down the hall after Sorhin.
He watched as they walked by cells he hadn’t seen before, and to be fair, he had never exactly been given a tour of this place. His chest tightened at the amount of people that were stuck here. That were all here and he hadn’t known. His eyes focused on the floor, he had to keep his eyes away from the cells. Because it wasn’t- there had to be a good reason for why they were doing what we did.
“You alright there, look kinda pale? Did you not know about this?” Sorhin teased, a smirk forming on his face.
Gopg didn’t bother answering him, he knew Sorhin already knew. Gopg hadn’t known, he had no clue that they had been keeping people here. Sure he had been getting infinite gear but did that make this okay? He was hurting so many people at the cost of so many others lives.
He breathed slowly his heart slowing and he flexed his hands again the fire making his head go blank and he simply followed. The long hall was somehow full of people which to him didn’t make any sense. There was no way that others were able to do such a wrong thing to the point where they were stuck here forever. His eyes darkened as they made it to the end of the hall.
Gopg stared at Sorhin the room they were keeping, the leviathan was super contained. He didn’t know why and he doesn’t think he wants to know either.
“Here you go, it’s the keycard you’re gonna use for the door. It shouldn’t be too hard just make sure to keep the door locked if you’re not with him. Don’t let him leave and if he starts talking about escaping, splash him with a potion of weakness. The dispenser is already set up in his cell. If you let him escape.. It won’t be very pretty for you. Clear?” Sorhin’s voice held a barely hidden threat under his voice.
Gopg nodded, looking away and let out a surprised shout when Sorhin shoved him against the wall.
“Words Gopg. You need to listen or it won’t be very pretty for you. Or for your precious little friend Dumb.” Sorhin hissed, gripping Gopg’s shoulders tight.
“I- I got it- Understood!” Gop said, his voice shaky
Sorhin smiled letting the other go and Gopg leaned against the wall for support, glaring at the floor. “Glad you understand. Let’s go meet your new buddy then.”
He swiped the card and Gopg entered the room, his eyes scanning the area and he breathed softly the room was cold and felt lonely. If he didn’t deserve this then he wouldn’t be here. The syndicate.. Was.. was helping in the best way they could.
“Finally! Let me out of here! I have to get back to Loonac!” the figure snapped and Gopg winced at the ropes that kept him tied. Hands almost itching to untie him but he held still. His eyes moved to Sorhin and the other simply smiled.
“Well then, Nufuli, this is Gopg. He’s your permanent guard friend! Isn’t this great? What a great start to the friendship!” Sorhin laughed, moving back to the door. “Don’t forget our little talk Gop!”
Gopg couldn’t stop the flinch and he nodded. Eyes moving to the leviathan, or, well, Nufuli. He didn’t look the best, his eyes holding a glint of pain which he could only assume meant someone used the dispenser of harmings.
Once Sorhin left, Gop’s shoulders tensed and he couldn’t hold back the weak sigh that left his mouth. He ignored the eyes of Nufuli and sat beside the cell, eyes trained on the cell lock. His hands shook as he gripped the trident more. Heat fueling his body and both relaxing and hurting him.
“He already told you what I’m here to do.” Gopg finally spoke
Nufuli glared at the other, his body pulling against the rope. Gopg felt guilt fill him the other must’ve done something bad for the syndicate to decide to tie him up but he couldn’t help it. He didn’t like getting tied up like before so the sympathy wouldn’t just go away.
“I didn’t even do anything. Let me go before I get out myself.” Nufuli snarled, Gopg technically was meant to splash with harming now. He could tell Nufuli realized that but he didn’t move. His mind going back to the memory of Sorhin with him and just how much it hurt. He was never going to do that same thing to someone else. He would take a beat down but pressing the button to hurt people wasn’t for him. Never would be. He refused to do it.
“Go on. Do it.” Nufuli tainted, glaring and pulling against the ropes holding him. The rope digging into his wrists and Gopg winced.
“Don’t tell me what to do or talk to me like that. Take that as you’re warning.” Gopg said, forcing his voice to go low and sound angry. He needed the other to not taunt him, not to test him because if Gopg didn’t rise to the bait and hurt the other, Nufuli would think he could do what he wanted. That wouldn’t be good for either of them.
Nufuli’s expression changed and he looked rather uneasy about what Gopg had said but he highly doubted the leviathan actually believed him. He knew how sick he looked.
Gopg leaned his against the wall, running his hands along the trident and letting the heat fog his brain slightly. Relaxing slightly at the calmness it provided. He just needed a rest. His eyes moved to Nufuli, the other was clearly angry and confused. Unfortunately Gopg didn’t have any answers for him. He was just as clueless as the other.
Gopg knew it was going to be a long few days with this mission.
