Summary
When a simple C-rank mission turns into a straight-up nightmare, the members of Team Seven narrowly escape with their lives. They end up stuck in the middle of nowhere, each of them injured and forced to rely on one another for help.

Castiel looked even wilder in person.
Dean let his eyes roam over his (now fully clothed) form, smiling appreciatively. He inhaled deeply, curious to find no real trace of a scent.
“He’s on scent blockers,” the employee explained. "Running this auction is involved enough without having to settle claim disputes if an omega’s scent triggers some alpha’s rut.”
That suited him fine; both he and Sam were on scent blockers most of the time and he’d planned on requiring that Castiel stay on them too. It helped with anonymity.
“Thank you,” he said, “That will be all.” The employee gave a small bow and left to service the other high bidders.
“Well, Cas,” Dean said cheerily, “Let’s go home.”

Summary
The Mark of Cain turns Dean into a demon once more. Dean is adamant that this time he's found a way to keep the mark under control but it's clear to Castiel that Dean needs help if he's going to fight the mark's influence until they can find a way to get rid of it. More than anything Castiel wants to save him, but if anyone needs to be saved it's Castiel as he tries to navigate where Dean ends and the Mark of Cain begins.

He comes across a half-starved, beaten omega slave in a squalid mountain village, and pity for the poor wretch compels him to intervene. AN: I think it’s important to mention that Castiel’s big, tan, muscular thighs are totally exposed throughout this whole fic because he’s wearing a short tunic and cuirass a la Alexander the Great. This is very important information.

For the last five years, Dean has been great at avoiding his family. For five years, he’s been able to feed them the lie he’s found an alpha, making damn sure they steer clear of something as archaic as match-matching. He refuses to be sold off like livestock!
Dean’s luck has run out: Sam is graduating Law School and everyone (Dean means everyone) is heading to Palo Alto to celebrate. The only person Dean can turn to for help is his best friend, Cas—and thank God, he actually agrees. When Dean began bullshitting his parents, well, Cas was (and still is) the inspiration behind Dean’s ‘make-believe alpha.’
It becomes clear pretty quick...there isn't much pretending in their performance. What else starts sinking in, is that he and Cas kinda act like a mated couple already. But the one thing that surprises Dean the most: he might not be alone in his big-giant-stupid crush. Maybe the feeling is mutual.
Maybe he and Cas have a chance. If they can make it through the visit alive—fighting the insane awkwardness, unbearable sexual tension, ridiculous booze-fueled clubbing (thanks, Sammy!), and meeting the family—just maybe...they can be real.

Castiel doesn’t know where the runaway in Dean has gone, but he’s not sure that man exists anymore. The omega in his backseat has been badly broken. He hasn’t said a word to Castiel; hasn’t protested aside from flinching, hasn’t even pleaded to be spared. He’s just… empty. Tired.
