    the lyric slipped out with a quiet, breathless vulnerability. it was just a hypothetical question built into a melody, but the raw honesty bleeding through the studio monitors made it feel like a direct, dangerous plea.

    would it? would they ruin everything they had built if they finally crossed that invisible line?

    as if her message couldn't be any clearer, she lowered her gaze as she came closer to the microphone. "if you ask me, i'm ready."

She denied Kaidan a place on the Normandy and sent him to Hackett to protect him and his heart, but now there's too much bad blood between them and she doesn't see a way of fixing it. When she becomes a Councillor on the Citadel and Kaidan is still working as a Spectre she is forced to face her feelings for him as they navigate the new reality.
