Tim feels like a fraud. A cheat. Like he’s scamming Kon just by laying in his arms, by pretending he could ever be good enough for him.
Why does Kon stay? Why does he put up with Tim’s pathetic moods, his paranoid thoughts? Surely Tim’s dragging him down, keeping him from the prospect of truly being happy. He’s keeping him from his own potential, keeping him locked and tied down to a hollow shell of a boy who doesn’t exist anymore.
He’s being so goddamn selfish.

Summary
Kon had a good life. A great life, actually, considering where it had started (a test tube in a lab funded by a supervillain, which was admittedly not hard to beat but still). He went to high school, he lived with his dad (Superman!) and his mom (badass reporter Lois Lane!) and his annoying but adorable younger brother, he spent every other weekend at his grandparents farm in Kansas, and he was also a well respected member of the Teen Titans. Yes, anyone who took a look at his life would say it was a good one. Full of family, friends, fun, privilege, and not to mention superpowers. From an objective standpoint, his life was complete.
So why could he never shake the feeling that something was missing?

Jason was sick of people telling him how he felt. ‘You don’t need us anymore,’ Artemis had told him, as if saying it would make it true. As if Jason needed someone to justify keeping them around. But three weeks back in Gotham and all Jason felt was fucking bored and lonely.
It was a relief, then, when some random New Yorker was thrown into his living room through a portal straight out of some LSD daydream.
Finally, something interesting to deal with.
Cue some wild family misunderstandings, criminal conspiracies and cults.

And it had kept you (relatively) untraumatized for the entirety of the 21 years of your existence. Sure, you'd seen some gruesome things, but that was normal. You weren't the type that made a stupid decision and got screwed over. You were smart.
Of course, that flew out the window with the goddamn Red Hood of all people. You had to be stupid with him.

You just finished your Masters of Music at Gotham University, hoping your sub job with the Gotham Opera and a couple of gigs will help pay off your student debt. No dice. Even with how cheap Gotham rent is, you still have to pick up a job at a coffee shop in the Upper West Side. Online training never prepared you for the kind of patrons you'd see though, and nothing could have prepared you for the interest of a billionaire family in the locally owned shop you worked in.

It wasn’t that she didn’t like Isuzu. The opposite was quite true. Mayuko liked the girl, but it was just that she was hard to look at. It was hard to look at this girl who should have the world unfolding before her. High school, college, the freedom of adult life, she should have all the possibilities open to her. But someone or something had taken all that away from her long ago, beaten her down to this small and sickly creature. It was hard for Mayuko to look at this and still believe that the world was kind and fair.
When Isuzu runs from the hospital, Hatori turns to Mayuko for help. (Starts more or less after episode 12/ chapter 56 and continues through the end of the series.)
