The warm tingling in his hands whenever he got into contact with anything even remotely magic, his constant urge to collect trinkets and clutter and his wild dreams were just examples for that. You could say he was born for it. But witchcraft is frowned upon and the only people who were allowed to tend to it properly were the witches of the Academy.
That doesn't stop Tommy from dipping his toes into the matter, in the most chaotic and dangerous ways possible.

Summary
The royal family of Antarctic empire isn’t exactly close.
Emperor Philza is always occupied; Tommy hasn’t seen Techno in months, and even if Wilbur is here, their relationship can be described to be strained at best.
The royal family doesn’t need to be close, however, it only needs to be balanced, like the pillars holding the country above their heads – as long as they are strong and steady, the Empire will be too. It’s the principle that held Tommy’s back straight and his shoulders broad through the years of hardships and trials of errors; through yet another formal meeting where his father’s gaze would look past him and where his brother’s words would be filled with poison that makes the deepest parts of his soul ache.
At that time, Tommy couldn't know that his family would find a replacement for him in the face of a commoner boy named Ranboo.

Tommy wakes up with a splitting headache.
For a second, he revels in how he can’t feel much of anything besides cold cold cold. He wriggles his toes and they’re too numb and frozen to feel his socks, shoes, or the floor under them. But then he shifts his head over, trying to somehow alleviate the growing pressure behind his right eye, and his whole world spins as his body jerks forward.
Next, he realizes the room he’s in is pitch black. And he is definitely tied up to a chair, not sleeping in his bed.

Tommy’s heart beats at such a rapid pace that it very well would be able to power the entire city with how rapidly it beats at such a harrowing sight.
The red of a great cape seems to burn in the night, the colour of the attire being an oh so impossible sight. But yet here it is, accompanied by the bone white boar mask the monster wears, the long pink hair flowing in a braid from the powered movement.
The Blood God.
The fucking Blood God.
Right hand to the Angel of Death, able to tear apart battlefields without ever breaking a sweat. A creature so heavily researched by humanity that it’s almost obsessive with how meticulously they desire to understand everything about how this being is able to pull off such a feat of effortless massacre.

Tommy never really had anyone experienced in magic to teach him. Elementary and middle schools don't teach magic either, especially since the students would be young and incapable of controlling their powers.
The only way Tommy practised his control with Air was by himself. No one in the neighbourhood shares the same ability, and even if they did, Tommy knows they wouldn't dare enter the house. The reason why…
At that moment, Clara's calm expression falls into uncertainty. "They uh… they also talk about your Dark Magic," she explains as she carefully eyes Tommy.

So what if Tommy was born with Dark Magic? He got accepted to the Academy anyways, so he's not complaining.
While he makes both friends and enemies, Tommy learns how to use his powers and basically tries to enjoy his life at the Academy.

Tommy's called Blindspot for a reason. He’s not invisible, as he’s reminded Dream time and time again - people can definitely see him. They just don’t notice. He blends into plain sight, totally diverting all attention like water off of a duck.
Usually, anyway. Orpheus, however, stiffens a little as Tommy draws nearer. He starts glancing around, as if struck by sudden paranoia. Tommy draws up in front of him, staff clenched in one hand, and Orpheus starts turning as if to check behind him.
“What’s that,” Orpheus mutters. “Who’s there-“
Tommy pulls his staff back and slams it into Orpheus’s stomach, hard.
Orpheus stumbles. He wheezes, choking, and then looks up at Tommy and fixes him with a burning stare.
“Who the fuck are you,” Orpheus says, eyes wild and oddly delighted. “Where were you hiding?”

Suspected of betraying the Hero Guild, Apprentice hero Tommy (A.K.A. Blindspot) is put under Security Protocol Catbag: a locked-on noise cancelling mask equipped with truth gas. His mentor, Dream, calls it a necessary teaching tool.
Meanwhile, SBI wants to know why their least favorite loudmouth little Hero has suddenly stopped talking.

Turning the 'Open' sign to 'Close', Tommy turned off all the lights, before going out and locking the door. He turned the knob just to be sure, before making his way to Techno’s car.
"You're finally done, I see," was the first thing he heard as he opened the door. Tommy huffed as he got in and slammed the door closed, putting the keys into the cup holder and buckling his seatbelt.
"Yeah, yeah, shut the fuck up, where are we eating tonight?" Techno, who had changed his hairstyle to a braid while waiting for Tommy, only gave him a side grin, as he stepped on the pedal and moved the gear, reversing the car.
"You'll see"

There was a deafening growl, one that shook Tommy to the bone.
A blur of reds and mahogany streaked passed him, but the figure only paused for a moment before he rounded on the golden wolf. Tommy had barely managed to dodge Techno’s first lunge. There was no way he’d be able to do it again.
Or, Tommy is a werewolf pup that moves to a new town and unfortunately catches the eyes of the werewolf pack that runs it.

He was just so lonely, a physical ache in his chest and desperately muffled chirps in his throat. It was more than just a want - whether he wanted to or not, he needed his flock - so now, here he was. Chasing villains through the city night after night, without so much as a plan for when it inevitably would go wrong.

There is a different kind of thrill in watching Tommy turn under his influence, more than just the addictive draw of power, it sings a deeper, instinctual-driven desire to consume and possess.
He is not blind. He saw the flash of murder in Wilbur's eyes, his teeth bare and ready to not just consume, but to kill. Had Techno came a minuter late, Tommy would've died.
The thought of Tommy dying by another's hands, it sends a spur of raw, visceral emotions colliding in cascading waves. Jealousy, anger, possessiveness all come crashing together to form a chaotic, yet enthtalling mess, red. Only one thing is certain in his mind
Tommy is not allowed to die.
