Summary
Five years ago, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov quietly went their separate ways. They handled their heartbreak differently. Shane cut off his family and friends and focused only on hockey, not that it helped, his game has totally fallen apart. Ilya had the support of the Centaurs, even if they didn't know why they were supporting him.
But when Ilya announces his retirement at the end of the next season, it shakes Shane back to reality. He has one season left to play against the man he still loves; and then, would he ever see him again? As Shane starts to piece his life back together, the biggest missing piece is still Ilya.
Ilya had planned to just enjoy the last season he'd play of professional hockey and obviously try to win another cup. But when Shane reaches back out, he has much more to consider. He never expected to talk to Shane again, but he can't deny that it's everything he's wanted in the last five years.
Can they salvage what they had? Should they even try? How can Shane and Ilya be a part of each other's lives again?

His hand came up, thumb settling beneath Shane’s jaw and tilting his face upward. The touch alone sent a shiver through him.
“You are too young,” Ilya murmured. “You are going to get me into trouble.”
Shane barely had time to breathe before Ilya leaned in.

Shane rolls his eyes as if he’s not absolutely going to Face Time Ilya the moment he gets to his Montreal apartment door.
He maybe also decides not to delete this photo of Ilya’s perfect abs drizzled in come to the point that they’re dripping like the ridges of a fresh-from-the-oven cinnamon roll - quite as soon as he should.
For Science.
Then he opens his browser and types in the words ‘sexting coaching’ into the Google search bar.
The first few hits are blurred out video reels Shane’s too terrified to open in public at the airport.
But finally he sees something promising on Craigslist.com.

Normally Shane wouldn’t do something this reckless, stupid, and impulsive.
But this is the Year of Yes.
And also the year Shane takes the concept of sexting and Hollanders the fuck out of that shit. He’s going to become an expert.
A sextpert, even. A sext champion. Point is, he’s going to kick Rozanov’s ass.

Summary
Shane recovered at his parents’ house. For once, he didn’t watch any hockey games after the Metros were knocked out of the playoffs. He knew it baffled his mom, but how was he supposed to tell her that the only thing he wanted to do while watching was analyze and pick apart the plays with Ilya fucking Rozanov — the man who had eviscerated his heart?
Some days Shane felt so empty he didn’t know if he even cared about hockey anymore. That always sent him spiraling into a panic, because how could he not care about hockey?
All Shane Hollander was supposed to care about was hockey.
