Summary
When Dennis Whitaker reached Pittsburgh, all he had on his mind was finishing med school. He expected it to be hard. He expected scraping by on meager allowances and the possibility of skipping meals.
He had it all planned out. He'd study, graduate, and become the best doctor he can be.
One active shooter later and now his plans suddenly include a certain Attending Physician giving him mixed signals, a wild roommate, and a whole Emergency Department that seems way too invested in his love life.

This time Brendon really can't keep himself from chuckling almost hysterically. He gets up from his chair, circling the table with a predatory-like walk, a shark getting closer to his prey, until he's properly face to face with this mysterious doctor Whitaker. Still, Whitaker doesn’t move if not to tilt his head up, maintaining eye contact as if Brendon wasn’t currently trying to kill him with a glare.“Is that so? Why, you think people don't already know about my attitude? They don't care about it, not when I'm the best ortho surgeon they could ever have in this hospital.”
“Believe me, they will care if the complaint is coming from me, doctor Park.”

Dennis threatens to get HR involved. Brendon get pleasantly surprised that someone has the balls to talk to him like that and discovers that, deep down, he kinda likes it when someone doesn't actually lower their gaze.

You're in my spot, kid.
Dennis turns to look at Jack walking towards him, ashing his cigarette on the sole of his shoe. He came up to the roof more often than, since that day. It felt like the only place he could truly breathe sometimes. He gets why Jack finds comfort here, staring at the skyline.
"I will be down in a second, Dr. Abbot I apologize, I was just catching some air." Dennis said, pushing his emotions under his skin, now wasn't the time. He knew he had things to do, his turbulent feelings could wait.
"Just Jack is fine when were alone, I think were past that now." Jack said moving to lean on the barrier, almost touching arms with Dennis.
"I had Shen cover report, we are free to go whenever, I came up here to talk to you actually." Jack continued. Dennis looked at the man beside him, quirked an eyebrow but kept quiet, waiting.
"I feel like I am suffocating here. I don't want to drown, I don't want to watch you drown either." Jack looked out towards the sunrise.
"What are you suggesting, Jack?"
"A roadtrip, a sabbatical, a break. If Robby got one, why can't we?"
