Luke has to watch everyone he knows with their soulmates. His parents, his brothers, Michael and Calum, his friends from school. He even sees co-workers at the coffee shop come in one morning and leave the same evening with a soulmate. He’ll throw up if he sees another ink engraved imprint as he hands a customer their coffee cup.
Or the one where Luke meets Ashton, who thinks he's illustrious and all Luke wants is his attention.

Summary
Luke is in the middle of a history test when the bomb hits.
He's carefully bubbling in A when the impact makes his pencil jerk across the paper, leaving a thick, dark grey line that tears through everything else as the building shakes, the lights flicker out, and the entire world seems to be split apart.
a bomb tears apart sydney and also luke's life, but maybe ashton can put it back together.

“Michael said you’re the best guy on this team. That you’re our biggest competition. He said that you’ve won every single event you’ve competed in since you got to high school,” Luke replied, his voice dropping lower as he spoke.
Ashton didn’t know how to respond, so he didn’t. All of it was technically true, although he would argue differently about being the biggest competition. There were plenty of events he wasn’t competing in.
“But he failed to mention how hot you were.”
or, ashton doesn’t get involved in relationships during swim season because they’re distracting and luke hemmings might just change that.
