Ratio notices Aventurine hasn't texted him back all day, something that feels incredibly out of character. For someone who lives wrapped in noise and spectacle, the absence of a message feels like a warning he does not yet understand.
Upon recieving a call from Topaz he decides to go check on him, hoping to find him busy with a meeting, complaining about his phone going missing or some elaborate inconvenience dressed up as a joke.
Instead, he finds a testament waiting on a spotless desk, instructions for a future without Aventurine and a single name written beneath every fortune: Dr. Veritas Ratio.

“I need you to marry me.”
To escape a bureaucratic shitstorm brought on by his less-than-complete onboarding paperwork, Aventurine comes to Ratio with a proposal: stay married for a period of two years, then get an easy, quickie divorce once Aventurine's residency status is secure.
Only, it's not enough for them to simply get married; the marriage has to look legitimate too. Which is fine. Aventurine can act the part. Except, he's not really acting. Not anymore. And this last-minute trip to visit Ratio's family in Bumfuck Nowhere, Veritas Prime as Ratio's newly minted fiancé is threatening to prove it.

And then Aventurine comes along and Ratio's world gets flipped right off the bat. Cracking the walls around his heart with one stroke.
And so with barely any plan and some connections, he tries to get the man to go out with him.
Or, Ratio is swooning, in denial of that fact, and everyone wants nothing more than for Aventurine & Ratio to fall in love already.

Summary

Suddenly he's a criminal with a record of assault, and is shipped off to Tokyo where he can't embarrass his parents further. His first night here he meets with Goro Akechi and he's in love. Problem with it is that is he lives in a world where love can get him killed. He soon finds himself choking on flowers and unable to tell Akechi how he feels because he's terrified of being rejected. Now Akira has to try leading the Phantom Thieves as he's slowly suffocating on bright red flowers. It doesn't help that Akechi decides he's going to keep an eye on them, so he and Akechi spend even more time together, making his hanahaki even worse. Can Akira survive this year?
