Charlie’s expression changes so quickly that it would be comical if it weren’t so sad. He pulls his hand back and for a second, they just stare at each other. Next, he scrambles back to his feet so quickly that it startles Nick a little.
“Charlie, I-”
“Fuck, I’m really sorry!” Charlie utters before he scurries out of the room. Nick is left feeling a little light-headed. How did he manage to fuck that up so badly?Canon divergence in which Nick is not up to kissing Charlie at Harry's party. It all works out though, I promise. 😊

The first time Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson met, they were 3 and 4 years old respectively.
The Nelsons had just moved in next door and were settling in, when Sarah Nelson had been called to an unexpected interview for a new job and tentatively asked the lovely neighbour's family if they could possibly watch her "Nicky" for a few hours. Her older boy was already in school, but finding someone to watch the youngest on short notice had been a futile endeavour.
