Kal shifted in his arms, tension spiking again, but he didn’t pull away from Lex.

“I have observed many iterations,” Lord Superman continued, his gaze dropping briefly to Kal before returning to Lex. “Many outcomes.” His eyes sharpened. “But this-” he paused deliberately. “This relationship.”
Lex’s lip curled. “Stop dancing around it and say what you mean.”
Lord Superman’s hand moved.
Fast.
Lex’s jaw snapped sideways as his fingers caught it, grip firm enough to hurt, to anchor, to stop Lex from pulling bck as he forced his face toward his.
Kal shifted sharply, a strained sound catching in his throat. “Don’t-” he started.
Ignored.
“I intend,” Lord Superman said quietly, inches from Lex’s face. “To understand it.” -
