Thank you to everyone who left Comments and Kudos on the original version of this story, originally posted between January 2020 and December 2021, and now being continued. I really appreciated it. I deleted it when I was having a bit of a "moment" and am now restoring it here with a new chapter and carrying on.
I should point out for anyone here following the (beautiful) Teriah wedding, that this is probably the opposite of a fluff fic... this is an AU where our girls run into a few problems along the way...

What if Mariah goes to a gay bar in Chicago, not because she’s gay, OK, but just because it’s convenient, and what if she does that before Tessa ever comes to GC, and she meets a mysterious brunette there?
What if that, hmm?? Been thinking of writing this for a while but with the show making gay bar references and hinting at Mariah potentially having a drinking problem, it felt like the time!
Please be warned that this story includes references to physical and sexual abuse as well as drug use and alcohol abuse and these are quite detailed in places. Avoid if not for you.
