Summary
Dean's never had faith. That's always been Sammy. But he thinks if there were ever a time for divine intervention, it would be now. Gazing up at the few stars that aren't occluded by the haze and light pollution, he feels fucking stupid when he opens his mouth to speak.
"God, if you're out there," he says, "I don't know what to do. I... I don't have anybody left. I need some help. God, man, just give me a sign."
Closing his eyes, he sits there. He can hear far off sounds of traffic and the whistle of the wind, but not much else. He thinks he catches a distant fluttering of wings, but there's no reply. Not that he really expected one.
(S1/S2 Rewrite) After Sam refuses to help Dean find their father, Dean prays for guidance. He doesn't expect to find it in an awkward, amnesiac angel, but at least he's easy on the eyes.

He keeps moving forward at a steady pace, resisting the urge to run because how fucking embarrassing would that be, running because he missed them, and as he breaks through the treeline he shouts, “Oi, oi—what took you guys so long? It's been—”
And then he freezes, because yes, actually—something is very, very wrong.
The Sunny is anchored just off shore, close enough to see the deck but far enough away that the crew has had to take the Mini Merry to make land. Scattered across the beach in various stages of chaos—rolling around, yelling, fighting—are his crew but not his crew, so similar and yet so, so different. They look younger, fresher, and whatthefuck there, on the deck of the Sunny just peering over the railing, he catches a flash of green—his own green hair—
“Ah, fuck,” he grunts, and then immediately turns back around because no, actually, he does not want to deal with this.

Zoro rolls his eyes, but Luffy can see the way his lips are turned up. Sanji chuckles and shakes his head, smiling as he turns back to the meal that’s cooking. Luffy continues to pout at their backs as they go back to cooking, but eventually, the smile makes its way back to his face, and there’s this warm, fuzzy feeling that begins to settle in his chest.
OR, Luffy notices that Zoro and Sanji are getting pretty close, even without him being involved. He’s very happy about it, but he also feels sad about it. What’s a captain to do? (Try and confide in his other crew mates, of course.)
