Eldrin would probably laugh at him. He would tease him and say that underneath all his bravado and ferocity he had the big soft heart of a halla. Months ago Davrin would have rolled his eyes and denied it. Now though…now it was apt. His heart had softened since meeting Rook. There was no point in denying it.
For her, he’d gladly be a halla.

Summary
Rook, Emmrich, and Davrin are called to the Hossberg Wetlands to assist Lavendel with preparations for a devastating incoming blizzard. There's also a missing villager to find. Rook and Emmrich go to look for him and end up getting trapped by the storm, forcing them to take shelter. The situation is unfortunate, but they take full advantage of the opportunity for some alone time.
"You know," she murmured. "I'm still a little cold..."
His smile grew. "Oh?"
"Mmhm."
He bent over her, his voice dipping lower. The base thrummed in her chest. "Well, we can't have that, now can we?" -
