She has felt weird ever since Pomni arrived, whether it be because of Kaufmo's poorly timed death, or the jester herself, things have been awkward. Things only get worse for her as the newfound affection she had for the jester is only causing her worst instincts to resurface.

He didn't run when he had the chance, so now he has to deal with nosy people, problematic reunions, an inconsistently sane therapist, crazy table-top role-playing adventures, and people who seem determined not to let him push them away.

As she tries to rebuild her life, she finds herself lacking a foundation. A one time favor turns into a semi regular arrangement and she finds herself staring at a particular singer from behind the bar. Monotony gives way to adventure, and as the days go by Pomni finds herself asking the same questions. How much does it take to let someone see under the mask, how much does it take to break the mask, and can she trust herself to make the right decisions?
