25 years after Raccoon City, Sherry Birkin, now a government agent, is kidnapped, presumably by two scientists researching the Raccoon City incident, survivor and fellow agent, Leon S. Kennedy is tasked with finding her, along with Claire Redfield--another survivor of the incident and longtime friend of Leon's.
While Claire is technically not an agent, the government allows the two of them to work together under two conditions: They must work under fake names, and act as a married couple.

This all started in 1998 in Raccoon city, where all hell broke loose thanks to Umbrella corporation, and the world was never the same. Claire never forgot the night she went looking for Chris, but she made sure to never go back there. Even when the consequences of that night followed her through life. Leon tries to move forward in his career, away from nightmare, but it kept resurfacing no matter where he goes. Both took different paths guided by that night. But once they learn someone else gotten hold of the original T-virus and experiments are being tested like Umbrella once did, both will come back to survive again, like they did all those years ago

Summary
Claire Redfield continues her investigation to reveal the truth about the U.S. Government. Leon decides to watch over her from afar so that he could keep her safe. That is until he can’t anymore. That’s when Leon asks a favor from his newfound friend to watch over her while he’s gone. At least, only for a little bit. Leon is willing to go to extremes for Claire, even if that runs the risk of her hating him forever.
