His words died in his throat. The grotesque scene stopped the world from spinning, and left them frozen as the images took root. -

Summary
I’m not sure where this story came from, or what it’s purpose is but it was floating around my head a little bit this evening so I decided to write it out on the way back from class.
Basically it is an imagining of when Mickey started colouring his hair and his telling Ian about it. I usually gravitate toward portraying Mickey's protectiveness and that does come in here but inspired by so many of the wonderful writers of this fandom I decided to change that dynamic up a little and even things out.

J_Q asked for reader prompts: gimme a situation that wouldn’t ordinarily be cute and I’ll put M&I into that situation and it will automatically become cute.
RedStarFicion replied: remember that time the Milkoviches dug a grave in the school teacher’s front yard? Put M&I in a scene like that, make it untamed, brutal and yet also cute.
Nicrenkel added: throw in the rohypnol that the Milkoviches used up at the quinceañera while you’re at it.
Set in the Timeless AU where Mickey and Ian got together in season 7 instead of season 1…and lived happily ever after with a grave or two thrown in.
Reader warning: after reading all that ^ you have probably figured out this will be a dark comedy. I assume no responsibility for anything written in this fic.

Holding Out for a Hero part 1 is, according to comments, “part Raiders of the Lost Ark, part Shameless, part Scarface” in which you will find Mickey “slicing his way through the jungles of Central America” in this “Gallavich jungle adventure that I never (always?) knew I needed”.
Well, now in Holding Out for a Hero part 2, Ian “the tenderfoot” is in trouble again and there’s only one man up to the task of saving his ass. #Hero!Mickey

The point of Part 1 was to REWIND Mickey and Ian’s relationship until 7x11 didn’t happen, Part 2 was to FAST FORWARD through their life together after hooking up for the first time in 7x11 and Part 3 was to PAUSE briefly at certain moments in that life. Now Part 4 will RECORD, through this alternate life of theirs, the reasons why Mickey and Ian are end game.
