Summary
Not knowing what else to say as Hua Cheng lays him down on their bed, he instead asks a rather obvious question. “How could you tell I wasn’t sleeping, San Lang?”
Hua Cheng busies himself by pulling the blankets around Xie Lian, tucking him in and then moving onto fluffing his pillow. “Gege, I know you. Of course I would be able to tell.”
Well, that’s the answer he expected. Before he can respond, Hua Cheng walks around to the other side and slides into bed next to him. He pulls Xie Lian towards him and rests his head upon his own chest, and Xie Lian cannot help but smile at the easy routine they’ve developed. Xie Lian makes himself comfortable as Hua Cheng brushes his hair gently with one hand, and winds their fingers together with the other.
“You also are never so still in your sleep,” Hua Cheng tells him, chuckling. “You’re always grabbing onto my arm, or leg, or waist, sometimes even my face, Gege. It was obvious the second you didn’t try at all."
Or, Xie Lian has not slept in three days. He and Hua Cheng find a solution.

"Don't ever leave me again," Xie Lian whispers against Hua Cheng's lips, fists clenched in Hua Cheng's robe, voice quavering.
“I will never leave you,” Hua Cheng answers fiercely, with the ardent devotion of a lover, the unyielding conviction of a believer. “I will never, ever leave your side again, Dianxia, I swear it. Believe me.”
After Xie Lian has a nightmare about losing Hua Cheng for good, Hua Cheng holds him and sings him back to sleep.
