She knew the boy was her’s then. Knew when he laughed and allowed her to set the pace of their first fly, knew when he jumped to the ground and his smile was basically splitting his face in two, knew when he touched her face with his tiny, tiny hand and caressed it like she was something precious and fragile, something sacred.
It was a good bond, strong. She could feel his happiness, his elation at their connection, could feel the love he had for her after such a short amount of time, as if they are meant to find each other, as if it was fate that brought them together.
The boy is her’s and no one is allowed to touch what is her’s.
But someone had.
