Yoonchae crosses her arms. “Well, the last time I did that, you got the cherry blossom tattooed.”
Megan rolls onto her side. “I liked it too much, it was exactly my type. But I kinda want another one now.” She blinks up at Yoonchae with wide eyes, cranking her pout up to full power as she tugs at the fabric in her hand.

Then, of course, I'll let you break my heart again.The concept of infinity had never really made sense to Megan. I mean how can you know it really exists, if it’s unmeasurable? Do we just trust it goes on and on? How do we know the universe is limitless if we can’t ever check?
And then there’s zero. Nothing. Can you imagine zero? Picture it? It’s impossible, much like trying to picture infinity. Impossible.
And then there’s the two together.
Infinity times nothing. It’ll always be nothing, won’t it?
Such an odd concept, one Megan never thought she’d truly grasp.
But she gets it now.

Yoonchae finished the rest of her nightly skincare routine on autopilot.
Cleanser rinsed away, foam swirling down the drain; toner tapped into her skin, a slightly tacky feeling left behind; moisturizer smoothed over her cheeks until the air conditioning cools the product on her skin. The bathroom mirror had fogged up just enough with the leftover heat of her shower that her reflection had gone soft around the edges, blurrier, too.
She pads into her bedroom, bare feet sinking into the white plush of the rug, and reaches for her phone on her bedside table. It’s Friday night, finally. There’s no homework looming over her, no basketball practice for her body to dread. It’s just her, her bed, and the K-Drama she’s been saving for when she actually has both the time and energy to sit still for a few hours, pay attention, and get to fully enjoy it.
She’s nearly in her bed, can nearly taste the warmth of her comforter, when—
HOOOOOOOOOONK.
Yoonchae jolts, hand flying to her chest.

Summary
She wasn’t sure when she gained consciousness. Maybe the heat awoke her, the flames of warmth engulfing her being. Not burning, simply present. There.
It occurred to her that the orange light she was seeing was behind something. Small muscles contracted as the lids over her eyes slowly opened, unveiling her vision. The sight stole the air from her new lungs.
A vast expanse of glimmering lights among a dark background, stretching on into the distance. Stars. The name seemed to form out of nowhere, almost. She turned to see another being, made up of this darkness and the stars, two bright ones glimmering where eyes should be.
Do you know why you are here? A voice inside her mind said, clear tones chiming, and she realized it was the deity speaking to her. They tilted their head, eyes boring into hers.
“No,” she spoke aloud, and her own voice sounded strange, sharp tones cutting out into the void. She winced. The deity seemed unfazed.
You are here for one main purpose, they spoke. To go wherever you are needed.
or: Megan tells a bedtime story over the course of five nights.

She doesn’t know where it came from, it just happened.
Megan’s breath stutters, voice wavers, and Lara feels triumph- just for a moment- but,
The hair underneath her grasp isn’t the right texture. The skin she’s licking is too light. The voice she’s hearing is a different tone than it’s supposed to be.
And kneeling there now, on the solid stage floor- her forehead pressed against Megan’s, panting heavily-
She doesn’t have time to fully rediscover the heartbreak.
OR
Lara’s missing Manon (and is possibly, probably, definitely in love with her), and Megan’s struggling with her love towards Yoonchae.
So the best choice of action? An… arrangement of sorts to forget about it all- management, people online, and the aching of their hearts.
It doesn’t mean that things don’t linger, though.
