    Summary

“You’ve never treated me fairly,” 35 snapped. “You give the others your trust while you only afford me skepticism.”

Zandik met his glare, working his lips dryly. “You pin an old man to his chair while demanding fairness and trust… The irony would be amusing if it were not so pathetic.”

35 held Zandik’s gaze for a moment longer, then exhaled through clenched teeth and shoved himself away, retreating to the window like a storm front rolling away. Zandik closed his eyes and took a slow breath.

“I am growing tired of your mistrust,” 35 told him testily.

“... And I grow tired of your attempts at intimidation. Don’t think I’ve forgotten what it was like to be you; I, too, had a penchant for playing petty mind games,” Zandik reminded him, his grip on the cane tightening. “I also remember believing there was no price too high for knowledge. Do you truly expect me to believe you have changed?”

    “You’ve never been ‘me’.”

Not 35—of course Zandik had been 35—but him, the Omega Build.

Character study depicting 35 and Zandik's complex relationship with themselves and each other.

What did he expect, what did he want – from him, lying underneath him, waiting for him, patiently, staring.
Like a doll, the joints creaked at his movements, the waist pulled up.
Dottore slipped a single finger into his mouth, only for Pantalone to pull it out almost immediately.
    “Don’t bite me."

    Dottore is dead.

Pantalone says that it doesn't matter. After all, the doctor was nothing more than a colleague, a business partner and an investment.

    Tartaglia doesn't believe him.

    Summary

The Regrator’s hold on his quill faltered slightly, and he eventually put it down. His eyes narrowed.
    “You-”

“So now you’re finally acknowledging my presence ? The things I need to do to finally have your attention...” Dottore mockingly lamented, cutting Pantalone off. His thumb stroked the edge of the banker’s jaw, raking over his skin.

“I thought the message I sent this morning had clarified my mood. You truly need to learn how to read context clues, Doctor.”

“I’m afraid Twenty-Five is the one who opened and destroyed your letter. A pity he killed off your messenger. After he burnt the note, I had no way of reading its content.” The scoff that escaped Pantalone’s lips did not earn any reaction from Dottore - save for the slight twitch of the Doctor's fingers. “Whatever happened between you, Twenty-five, and Forty-five yesterday is none of my concern. But I expect answers when I’m having a conversation with you.”

    Summary

To become a Dragonslayer, one must kill a dragon first.

However, what awaits Wriothesley at Beryl is more than a winged lizard spitting fire.

    🐉

“Don’t misunderstand my leniency towards melusines with acceptance of your presence here.” The dragon casually reminded him. “I brought you here because Sigewinne pitied you and nothing else. As soon as she deems her treatment finished, I want you to disappear from my sight.”

Those words reminded Wriothesley of all those ‘friends’ of his father, always invested in reminding him of his origins. “Nothing would make me happier,” Wriothesley remarked through gritted teeth.
