Summary
Rounding another corner, she could see the eerie green force field she knew was hiding Glimmer from view. Coming to a stop in front of it, Catra chuckled to herself. How ridiculous, to depend on a dumb ritual to try and preserve what was left of her sanity in that dump of a place, and with a princess nonetheless. She truly had no dignity left.
But, she supposed, the princesses weren’t all bad. Not every single one of them, at least. Some of them had strong arms, muscles tensing with effort when striking an opponent, bright eyes wrinkling with laughter, skin so soft to the touch, under her fingertips…

She meets Adora’s eyes for what she hopes is the last time, memorises the stormy blue of her irises. “I don’t have to stay and watch it happen.”
“Catra, please,” Adora rises to her knees. She hugs Catra’s bag with one hand and begs, “Stay. I need you.”
“No you don’t,” Catra can tolerate a lot of things, but hearing Adora lie to her hurts the most. She asks Melog to cloak her and Melog listens without complaints. “You never have."
She disappears from Adora’s sight.

Catra always thought that it would be her and Adora ruling the world together, but as Horde Prime’s power grows and Adora chooses to sacrifice her life for everyone else, Catra decides that she will not stand aside and watch the person she loves die. So, she runs away. But when she learns of Horde Prime’s plans to corrupt the Heart and claim its power, she returns and decides that if Adora must die, then Catra won’t let her do it alone.OR, a Catra character analysis from the Failsafe to the Heart

Summary
Night, or what used to be called night, on a spaceship is weird. For a recently rescued and formerly evil Catra, it consists of dwelling on her intense past, attempting to communicate with the most important person in her life who sort-of completely hated her up until recently, and begging afore-mentioned person both to forgive and not to forgive her.
AKA 'having a panic attack in front of your ex who just saved your life', set in s5
snippet:
“Catra,” she makes out Adora saying. “Catra, I didn’t— Of course I don’t think you’re bad, that’s not even— Catra, look at me. Look at me.”
Catra does.
"I think you’re still— Catra, I think you’ve thought you were bad since you were four years old."

Summary
She should start to grieve, that's what the stories say. She should say goodbye, once for each moon, and let Catra go. But her First Ones blood, or maybe the heart that pumps it, screams that something is wrong. She can't let go of Catra, and Catra can't let go of her, and every ghost story she's ever heard says that that spells disaster for the both of them... but she has to see it through.
The moons are turning. Etheria is trying to finish something it started.
And Adora is running out of time.

Summary
They stay that way for a long time, Catra’s face tucked into Adora’s shoulder, Adora gently cradling Catra’s head. Adora is careful not to hug Catra too hard or make her feel restrained, anticipating the moment that Catra will start to pull away — but Catra doesn’t. She hangs on so tightly it hurts, her claws digging through Adora’s jacket and into her back, latching into her like she did when she was a kitten and didn’t know how much her claws could hurt. Adora tries not to wince, tries not to move a single muscle, worried that if she does the spell will break and Catra will struggle away, appalled at having shown weakness.
But Catra doesn’t let go. And so neither does Adora.
